  1. Prayers are on the way! May God give her and her family strength to get through this.
  2. Here are some views of my hunting base camp. It's a 3br 2 1/2 bth house on 30 acres adjacent to 90+ acres of private land on which we have permission to hunt. Don't have pictures of the house but here are some views of the lands:
  3. I've had this conversation with my wife for the past 21 years living on LI, especially after sending out our check twice a year to pay the $11k in taxes on the less than 1/4 acre I live on. Over the last 21 years I've seen my taxes increase and the size of my property stay the same. If it wasn't for family living all within a few miles of us, we would have been off LI a long time ago. I would like to stay in NY but further North perhaps closer to the Daks. The biggest fear of living on LI is how to escape in the event of a catastrophy, terrorist attack or some other disaster that takes out the bridges and tunnels. Perhaps the tunnel from the 135 to Connecticut may be built before I die but I wouldn't hold my breath. If not NY then probably in the Southwest - Arizona, New Mexico or Colorado. May even have waterfront views once the big one hits Calfornia and it falls into the Pacific. But until my kids get older and start their own lives I guess we'll have to stay put.
  4. Nice!! Can't wait to get my first mount back. Only 5 more months.....
  5. Just finished clearing my driveway, sidewalk and patio. 2 1/2 hrs with a snowblower. Time to take a nap. Gotta do my parents house later. Thankfully his SB is one of big ones. Get it done in an hour.
  6. Come to Lawn Giland. Up to 26"in some parts. On second thought may be better to stay off the roads, lest our esteemed State Furher may confiscate your car in addition to your guns. Lol!
  7. Easy 18" here on North Shore of LI. It was a trip taking my 8 lb dog out to pee. Poor guy was jumping in and out of the snow and was getting buried. Had to shovel a small path for him.
  8. Just don't want to see any fellow hunters get in trouble. You never know who reads this forum . . .
  9. Hey Joe. I hate to burst your bubble but you can't use electronic calls during Spring turkey season in NY. Stick with a basic box call - or even a push-button box call. They both work great.
  10. Same here on LI. Crazy lines to get gas. Supermarket lots were packed with people waiting to get into the lot. No worries here. Both cars were gassed up couple days ago and snow blower yesterday. Wood in the garage for my wood stove and slow cooking pork roast for pulled pork tonight. With temps going into the high 40's on Monday through Wednesday all this predicted snow will be a memory.
  11. Oh didn't you read the fine print? Gobbler, Jake, Hen not included LOL.
  12. Oh man!! They stole my idea!!! Oh well . . Still cheaper getting it through me . . .
  13. 70 year old BB coach from Detroit defended himself and two girls he was escorting to the school when he was attacked by two teenage thugs. A struggle ensued and Coach pulled his CC and shot/killed one kid while wounding the other. Coach is a reserve P.O. and licensed to carry. Love the comment by the 'momma' - "I lost my son and I want answers". Here you go - your son was a criminal, attempted to rob someone and was killed in the process. Period end of message. http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2013/02/06/coach-shoots-teen-during-robbery-near-mich-school/
  14. So much for Punky Phil's prediction for an early spring . . .
  15. I bought the servo, receiver, transmitter and battery pack in a kit from Towerhobbies.com. It is a 2 channel transmitter/receiver for $52.95. Here is the link - http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXASX3**&P=0 But I guess you can use old remote car components.
  16. Lawdwaz, your prayers were answered -- after gassing up and priming my Snow Blower about 20 times, it sputtered, smoked and finally started up - Wahoo!!!! Thank you . . . .
  17. I may just do that . . . Hunting NY special - $99.95 + shipping and handling. I'll be in the money soon!!
  18. Ok so i put together the first prototype of my DIY Motorized Turkey Decoy. Materials list: 1 - 2x4x2 1- 15" long x 1 1/2" diameter dowel 1 - 3x3x1/4" piece of pine 1 - 15" aluminum arrow Transmitter, receiver, battery holder, on/off switch and servo Hot glue Dremel Cordless Screw driver Step 1: attach round dowel to 2x4 with galvanized screw Step 2: hot glue 3x3x1/4" pine on top of dowel Step 3: hot glue servo onto center of 3x3x1/4" pine Step 4: using galvanized wire attach arrow to top of servo disc/mounting plate Step 5: place decoy carefully onto the arrow. Here are the first videos of my prototype http://youtu.be/I7EGEsF1XhM http://youtu.be/uCs8l65qQp8
  19. They're saying anywhere from 6-12" on NorthShore of LI. Getting my snowblower ready tomorrow. Hoping it starts after sitting for nearly two years.
  20. During a recent morning mass in New York City, a little old Italian lady made her way to the front and out of character prayed rather loudly this simply statement . Dear Lord, this has been a tough two or three years ...you have taken my favorite actor Patrick Swayze, my favorite musician Michael Jackson, my favorite salesman Billy Mays, my favorite actress Elizabeth Taylor, my favorite singer Whitney Houston, and, now, my favorite announcer Dick Clark. I just wanted you to know that my favorite politician is Barack Obama.
  21. Update: Ok so i put together the first prototype of my DIY Motorized Turkey Decoy. Here are the first videos http://youtu.be/I7EGEsF1XhM http://youtu.be/uCs8l65qQp8
