Fished my tree stand
fasteddie replied to ForestWalker's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
The guy next to my SIL's property has an old Horse Trailer way back on his property . He call it "The Condo" and has a propane heater , etc in there . Has shot several deer from there . -
Fished my tree stand

Looks like Low Income Housing ! -
I havn't felt the need or desire for a crossbow . I have only fired 3 shots from one just to try it out . Pretty simple device . I'm only 74 and don't have physical disabilities that would make me want to use one . Plus , the way things are going , if I bought one , they would immediately incorporate ML's into archery season and it would be a waste of money . If someone wants to use a crossbow , I could care less . Whatever floats your boat !

My neck was cold the other day . I ordered a Camo Fleece Balaclava on Amazon . After making the payment I get a notice that I will receive it between Nov 16 and Dec 3 . What the hell , I could get something from China faster than that .!

One of our fine inventors did come up with a collapsible blow gun . Problem is , he swallowed the dart when he inhaled and never got it to the market ! -
here ya go

That had to be fun to watch . Thanks for sharing .

That wasn't necessary . When they say the police found a body , it doesn't mean it was headless so I take it they found a body of a deer and that would be the same . No need to get too technical .

If someone came into your home , I would consider it different than someone in the woods stealing a tree stand . When someone takes your stuff , you feel violated and want to take some action but would be in trouble if you did . Seems like thieves have the upper hand . I had 2 pellet rifles taken from my garage in broad daylight . A lot of things go through your mind when a thief steals so close . It has gotten so bad that I keep the car doors locked when my car is in my driveway . I padlock my stands and trail cameras but if a thief wanted them bad enough , a hacksaw or bolt cutters would do the trick . Padlocks are a deterrent for not thief proof .

If you did that , I would have to say --- enjoy your time in jail !

I was in my stand in Geneseo by 6:45 am yesterday . It was cold and I was somewhat dressed for it . Saw a deer way off in the distance at 8 am but by the time i got the binos out , it was gone . Around 9 a doe crossed the neighbor's field heading for the lane way about 150 yards down from me . the wind was in my favor but the doe never headed my way . That is all I saw all morning . The sun was out but the wind picked up and made it feel much colder . Got down at 10:30 . At 2:30 , I was in Pittsford in the stand that I normally use . Sat there for an hour and then moved to a stand at the other end of the filed where the deer previously traveled near . Once again the wind was in my favor . Nothing came out of the woods by the creek where they normally do south of me . I could see quite a bit north of the hedge row and nothing there . Around 6:15 I got down and walked across the field to the wooded area by the creek to my youngest son's stand . The was a note on it ( Private Property - Removed Stand - call owner ) . The stand was still up and I saw where a sign was placed on another guy's stand . The property must have changed ownership but there was no name or number on the paper . My son is going to remove the stand today . I wonder if whoever walked through the area stunk it up so the deer weren't around . Gotta get a neck gator . The cold wind on my neck gave me a stiff neck .

Been in the stand since 630. Have only seen 2 deer so far. It was 26 degrees out this am . Expected more deer movement Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk -
Curious .... Years ago , they just put stakes out to mark properties . With all the new technology , do they supply GPS coordinates when they survey now ? Anyone know for sure ?
-
So , are you saying that it has to be over $500 loss in order to shoot someone ? j/k I think people make the remark about shooting someone just to blow off steam and don't mean it in the literal sense .
-
I would think that if you paid to have a property surveyed and they didn't mark it properly , they should return and do it properly . Just an opinion but I think they should flag it .

Nice work Outdoorstom !

Yeah , I feel your pain . You have gotten 2 deer so far and now can't hunt upstate because you have no tag for that area . ( Sorry , the devil made me post that ) .
-
Those sure are nice bucks . They need to show up in the day light hours ! The Coverts take nice clear night pics .

I have the ATV loaded on the trailer and everything ready to shove off for Geneseo in the am . Forecasted to be 26 degrees at 7 am . That's a tad ccccccccold for shooting a bow . Hopefully the deer will be movong . The problem with that area is there is a cornfield a couple hundred yards down the road . It seems like the deer leave the field and head straight north on the far side of the neighbor's field to the woods . Three hunters have that area locked up but I havn't seen anyone over there in 2 trips to my SILs property .

I bet he got the pics on a Wild Game Camera and photoshopped the Covert into the picture .
-
It could be 45 - 50 degrees out but if it was freezing overnight , I guarantee that tree is still freezing and leaning against it will suck the warmth right out of you !

I recognize that buck . I know exactly where the pic was taken . Thanks for posting the pictures .

About 3 years ago my oldest son had permission to hunt on a property on West Bloomfield Road south of Canfield road . He was a newbie there and the guys that had been hunting there for years didn't like additional people hunting there . They gave the land owner some BS story and she told my son he should find another place to hunt . He had 3 ladder stands on the property and left them until the end of season . I told him he should grab them but he didn't want to mess up the hunting for the dipwads . When he went to remove them 2 out of 3 were gone . The guys not only got him booted off , they stole his stands . There are some real low lifes out there !

My youngest son has Sitka gear and loves it ! It's quite pricey !

When you sat on it , did it take a picture ?
