Sunday am I will be sitting in a stand in 36 degree weather with a North West wind blowing in my face . Those damn deer better be moving !

I plan on hunting in 8N this coming Sunday with 2 of my sons . We have permission to hunt a property near the lake between Canandaigua and Naples off of Rt 21 . We hunted there once last year and didn't see any deer .

I use a bow holder that is designed for the base of a chain on stand . I buy longer bolts and fasten it to the curved part of my ladder stands with wing nuts for easy installation and removal . They cost $12.99 at DICKs . The company used to make one that was designed for the ladder stands . The way I install it makes it easy go grab with minimal movement . The holder is adjustable .

There is so much info that you can get if you GOOGLE a subject . I have had good luck being able to replace washing machine parts and some on a clothes dryer . I had a friend who does a lot of HVAC stuff and knows about refrigeration take a look at the chest freezer that I bought and crapped out a bit after a year . He ran some tests and said that it would cost more to repair than to replace .

I havn't changed my stance on the Crossbow . I don't support them but I also don't fight against them . If someone wants to shoot something easier than a recurve or compound go for it . I am 74 and not ready to make the jump to a crossbow . Then again , just about the time I would purchase one , ML's would be legal in the Archery Season .

Oh yeah , my Toro snow blower had the engine seize up and quit on me . When I went to buy a new one , the salesman said they make them to last only so many run hours . What the heck !

I would hate to jinx myself but we have a Gibson upright freezer that we bought new in 1970 . That sucker is still running . We have replaced washers , dryers , freezers , refridgerators , etc that only lasted a few years . I bought a 7.5 cu ft GE chest freezer from Sears and the damned thing quit a month after the one year warranty expired . Lost my venison that year .

Something that I don't believe has been mentioned is ...... if you are shooting uphill , you still bend at the waist but the opposite way . Otherwise you will be shooting low .

Oh crap . It just dawned on me that I forgot to change the time on all of my cameras .

My sister in law stopped at the Town Clerk's office in Avon today and got her Deer license and two 8H tags .

I have had a TC in the same spot for about 4 years and got a lot of pics . This year was the exception . I saw a nearby scrape so I turned the camera 90 degrees last Friday and got these pics .

Drove to Geneseo . Was in my pod blind by 6:15 . Had a doe and 2 young ones show up around 7:30 . They milled around for about 15 minutes at 70 yards and headed into the thick stuff . Left the stand at 9:30 figuring it was equal to 10:30 last week's time . The Cock Pheasant flew past my blind and landed in the field . The Genesee Valley Hunt was supposed to chase fox at the "Bottoms" and figured they might drive some deer my way but they hunted North instead so I wasted a lot of time being in a stand and seeing nothing . My back was killing me from sitting in the ladder stand so long . Saw a red fox at 3:30 and at 4:30 there were to anterless deer in the adjacent field about 300 yards away . Those Bushnell Binos are great . Watched a hawk strafing the field and it almost seemed like it was trying to antagonize the deer . Kinda funny !

A doe and I fawn a couple hundred yards out. Want them to move so I can get down. Sunset is 502 pm. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
