My 50 cal NEF Huntsman has a collapsable ram rod . When taken off the ML it has to be turned counter clockwise , extended and continue to turn counter clockwise until locked in place . It is time consuming . I cut a wooden dowel about 7+ inches and put a piece of nylon filiment tape on each end . I place the charge in the barrel , start it with the ramrod , drop the dowel in the barrel and seat the bullet . Always remember to remove the dowel ! It can be done much faster that way for a reload . I hav't shot a dowel yet . Knock on wood !

What about the car ahead of you that has been going slower than hell and puts his right turn signal on . You think you are going to be able to pass but the jsrk makes a wide swinging turn going wide left over the center line to make the turn . Stay in your lane jackass ! If you were going any slower , you'd be going backwards !

No , I wouldn't quit . It would almost be reverting back to the way it was in the 60's . As long as does could still be taken , I would be okay .

Got up at 5 am . Checked Accu-Weather and the temp was 8 degrees with a minus 4 degree Real Feel Temperatutre . Went back to bed . Took care of some stuff around the house and drove to Walworth . Trudged through a foot plus of snow . Got to the blind and the roof was caved in . Cleared the snow off and popped it back up . It was okay . Sat out there for almost 4 hours not expecting to see anything . All I had seen on the way to the blind were older tracks . Could have been from the morning . I had my NEF Huntsman across my lap while trying to keep warm . Had the windows open facing West and North . They are low so I had to scootch down a bit . Around 3:15 5 doe came out of no where and ran across about 30 yards in front of me . By the time I raised the ML and got the hammer back , they were gone . If I had been in a tree stand or chair in open space , I might have been able to get off a shot . The windows were a restriction . Started out of the woods about 4:15 . The season sucked but at least I know there are 5 live does in Walworth . I put most of my hunting gear away when I got home . Didn't get anything during archery , Gun or ML but got to spend a lot of time outdoors !

No , except move the Youth 2 day hunt to the 1st Saturday & Sunday of gun season and have the regular gun season start on a Monday like it used to be .....

Sometimes the simplest things can put a drain on a battery . Something plugged into the accessory slot and forgotton about . Years ago , my inlaws had a Pontiac GranPrix . The battery kept discharging and they took it to the dealers several times . The service dept could figure out the problem and the only thing they did was get grease on the seat . My father in law would plug in a trickle charger every night so it would start in the am . One night he was putting tied up bundles of news papers in the trunk . It was sprinkling so he put the trunk lid down so it didn't latch . He noticed that the trunk light was still on and that the trip switch was adjusted right . Apparently the trunk light was on 24 hours a day and draining the battery . It was a simple fix that was overlooked .

Phade --- Do the trucks use the same sized battery ? Could you have swapped batteries and driven the old Escape while leaving the dead battery at home on charge ? I wonder if your wife was smirking when she mentioned that you had boxed yourself in .....

My father in law got me started with deer hunting . He said ,"if you knock one down , put another slug in it's neck to make sure it doesn't get up" !

I am 72 years old . The guy was able to drive his car around so he wasn't trapped in or anything . I have no idea who he is or where he lives . In my younger years I had helped neighbors that I knew and one neighbor (younger than me) expected me to do it all the time until I told him , no more Buddy .

Some people are ashamed of their location ..... I mean , If you lived in Albany , Binghamton , Watertown , etc , would you want people to know it ? ... And yes , where the Hell is " around here " !

I was out clearing my driveway and un-burying my trailer with the snowblower . It was 18 degrees out . Someone pulled into the driveway and asked if I cleared neighbor's driveways . I said no and that I blessed the old snowblower every time I went out to use it hoping it would start and run . He then asked if I knew anyone that plowed driveways . I suggested that he look at the driveways that looked like they were plowed out and ask the homeowner who they use for a Plow Jockey . I have no idea who the guy is or where he lives . I guess I am not the Good Samaritan ............If you live in Western NY , you have to be pro-active when it comes to the weather . You can't wait until you have a foot of snow in the driveway and then try to figure out how to get rid of it .

Damn Doc , 20 years on a pair of boots . That's some great service . Problem is , they don't make them like they used to .......

I am at the point where I would like to call it quits but ....... I might give it a try in Walworth tomorrow afternoon and then probably Geneseo on Tuesday . Tuesday is forecasted to have a heat wave of 31 degrees but there will be a wind chill factor . I might be better off working and making some money but I want to avoid being a failure during the regular hunting seasons . I guess I will just have to trudge through a foot+ of snow and give it a final try .

I had considered going out this afternoon but changed my mind . I drove into Webster to get a few things . The roads were fair but some of the drivers on the "104 Corridor" were nuts . The right lane was traveling about 45 mph . Some dipsy lady was driving a bit below 40 mph in the left lane . Cars were driving around her to keep the traffic flow moving . It was worse on the way home . The roads had been plowed but it was still snowing and it was slushy & slippery . Saw a couple of accidents on the way home . We might go out to dinner tonight as it's only 1 1/2 miles away but I am not going to drive anywhere to hunt .
