  1. Crow Facts Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts. However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car. MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills. He very quickly concluded the cause: When crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. They discovered that while all the lookout crows could shout "Cah", not a single one could shout "Truck."
  2. No --- the wind was 5-6 mph and coming from a southerly direction . I was on the north side of the gully pasture . Oh yeah , the guy I do signs for was on Vine Valley Road near Middlesex . He said he had to stop his truck and wait for 10 doe to cross the roar just up from the trailer park . The deer know where they are safe !
  3. I heard a total of 5 shots between 7 am and noon and the 2 shots around 3:30 pm . Not much activity . I may wait until Saturday to go back out with the hope that some hunters might be out there moving deer .
  4. Wow ! Buck of a lifetime ....
  5. It was 29 degrees here in Ontario when I headed out at 5 am . When I got off at the Livonia exit ( #9 ) it was 24 degrees . When I got to my SILs home on Lima road , it was 19 degrees . I had a double pair of socks on and it didn't take long for my feet to get cold in the chair blind that I had tucked back into some thick stuff . Stayed there from 6:10 am to 11 am . Checked out the gully lot and went to my vehicle . Removed a couple of Real Estate signs in the village of Geneseo , got something to eat and went back to the property . Watched the GVHC riding across the property way out with the hounds on the trail of a fox . Saw a doe hauling butt across an open field that the fox hunters kicked out . Went back to the blind and stayed there until 5 pm . Another dismal day . The clock is ticking !
  6. That's why the toilet seat should be left up when not in use !
  7. Stanley died in a fire and his body was burned pretty badly. The morgue needed someone to identify the body, so they sent for his two best deer hunting friends, Cooter and Gomer. The three men had always hunted and fished together and were long time members of a hunting camp. Cooter arrived first, and when the mortician pulled back the sheet, Cooter said, Yup, his face is burned up pretty bad. You better roll him over. The mortician rolled him over and Cooter said, Nope, ain't Stanley . The mortician thought this was rather strange, So he brought Gomer in to confirm the identity of the body. Gomer looked at the body and said, Yup, he's pretty well burnt up. Roll him over. The mortician rolled him over and Gomer said, No, it ain't Stanley. The mortician asked, How can you tell? Gomer said, Well, Stanley had two ass-holes. What! He had two ass-holes? asked the mortician. Yup, we never seen 'em, but everybody used to say, There's Stanley with them two ass-holes. Cooter and Gomer are both now employed in the Obama administration. One in the Cinncinatti IRS office and the other in the Justice Department.
  8. Yeah , a few have the attitude that , " if you don't do it my way , you're doing it wrong" ! I choose to butcher my own deer though .
  9. Heading for Geneseo in the am . It's gonna be ccccccccccold !
  10. I'll stick with my Aldi's peanut butter / oatmeal granola bars ........
  11. I was out installing signs today and had to use a John . I stopped at McDonalds at the corner of Rt 250 and Rt 31 . Someone was at the urinal so I stepped into the stall and started to lift the seat . Some lazy slob didn't bother and pissed on the seat . What the heck is wrong with people ! What the hell do they do at home ? Total slob !
  12. Yeah , no sense in having laws . Why can't we shoot when ever we want too . And why can't we use spot lights if we want to. Bull Crap !!! If it's not legal to shoot until 7:05 or what ever , then it should be obeyed .
  13. and ........ no one arguing or getting Hostile !
  14. When I 1st saw the topic I thought it was going to be another thread about Tresspassers !
  15. Nice going . Glad someone's getting some deer .
  16. Drove to Geneseo this am and took my 2 man chair blind with me . Set it up in the dark where I had trimmed a spot in the gully lot . I knew it would be windy but I was hoping to catch deer either crossing the pasture lot going in or coming out of the gully . I was all set by 6:20 . It sure as heck was windy . I had the chair blind tucked in pretty good so it didn't move much . I had a bank behind me and I could hear the wind howling up above . I was thinking , what the hell am I doing out here ? Heard a single shot in the distance around 6:50 . It was the only shot I heard all day long . I sat in the stand until about 11:15 and then got out and went up to my car . I walked along the gully bank on the way up and kept checking for any deer . I figured if I got one , I had the rest of the day to get it out of there . Didn't see a thing . I fixed my SILs mailbox and headed for town to get something to eat . When I* got back it was still blowing hard and started to sprinkle . It was forecasted to rain in the afternoon and I figured I had enough for one day . Got my shotgun and backpack from the barn and headed out . Stopped off in Henrietta and gave my youngest son a anterless permit for 8F . He has permission to hunt a spot in Marion where he can use his rifle but I am still good with the permits I have . All I need is for some deer to cooperate ! I'll be back there Wednesday ..........
  17. Hmmmmmm ! I wonder what the reaction would be if you took a dump in a scrape ......
  18. I think I have seen those bags along the expressway ..........
  19. Sooooo , which one of you is this ?
  20. I carry a few of the 4" ty-raps in a plastic cigar tube . I use one to attach to the deer's ear and tuck it inside the ear . Then I put another around the ear to secure it so it doesn't blow off when I haul it away in the trailer .
  21. If you don't have a Dollar Bill , 3 quarters are 2 7/8" ......
  22. He may have been carrying the pistol in his hand , tripped and shot himself . People change their stories so they don't look so stupid . People shoot themselves or others and say they know they had the safety on . Bull Crap !
  23. A Canandaigua man shot himself in the leg with a 44cal handgun . 48 year old Kevin Perrin shot himself when his handgun discharged in his holster . A foreign object -possibly a tree branch-activated the trigger as Perrin was stepping over a tree trunk .
