  1. My favorite knife is a 4" fixed blade KABAR . I have had it for over 40 years .
  2. Gas is $3.50 a gallon at a few places here in Orlando .............
  3. If you were able to make the above post you should be able to post the other ...........
  4. Yupper , only when it's raining ! :
  5. I am moving over to the Dark Side and joining the Cross Bow revolution . I have had enough of the time loss by practicing with a compound and the 30 yard shots . I am ready for the scoped X-Bow and drop those bolts in at 100 yards . YeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
  6. I couldn't see the video as i'm getting ready to leave but ........ I have heard gray fox make a screaming like noise when hunting in South Bristol near the lake . I saw and heard 3 of them one day . Startled me the 1st time !
  7. Sits ---- I notice you only show up to argue or start an argument ........ Do you ever have anything constructive to offer ? You must really miss Doc !!!
  8. When the X-bows come into Bow Season I will join the ranks and grab the fastest X-bow out there . I'll be taking the 100 yard shots and no longer spend my time practicing with an antiquated piece of archery equipment such as a recurve or compound . So you folks keep paying into the Social Security System so I can make my dream come true .
  9. Good deal ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/beer.gif[/img] My oldest son buys the solid green wool trousers at Iron Mike's in Canandaigua ..........
  10. Nothing like having an emergency flashlight ! :
  11. I saw that a couple years ago . I wonder what they have done with it .
  12. Just saw this on another site ..... Thought it was worth sharing
  13. 20 years ago today we had that nasty Ice Storm . I remember waking up in the middle of the night hearing loud cracking sounds only to look out and see tree limbs breaking . We lost power for a few days but had a wood stove , coleman lanterns and candles . Had a few folks stay with us as they had no heat . I went in to work at Xerox and did $1500 worth of damage to my van . Didn't even get a thanks for showing up . The Union guys were given a $50 Wegman's Gift Certificate and we management got zip . Less than 25% of the workforce showed up .
  14. I did a review on "Twiztd Strings" on another site last year . They are nice . Here it is ..... TWIZTD STRINGS is a company located in Michigan that builds custom strings . The strings are made based on your specifications or those of the manufacturer . The materials used are Brownell Excel or BCY 452X Most colors are available . 2X serving is used for end servings . Halo may be used for specialty orders . All strings are pre-stretched at 300 lbs and served under tension using a Little Jon serving machine . I ordered 2 sets of string and cable for my Ben Pearson TX-4 . One set is the Excel (seemed to be faster in some of the previous tests) and the other set is the 452X . I ordered the Excel in Green / Black and the 452X in Purple / Black . I was quite pleased with the color options . I had contacted Sean at Twiztd Strings and gave him my string measurement . Sean in turn contacted Ben Pearson Archery to verify the specifications on my bow model . When I received the strings , I took the Excel strings to my local bow shop to have them installed professionally . When I picked up my bow I asked the shop owner if he had any problems . Dave , at Trophy Taker Shop said he had taken measurements of the new string & cable , bow axle to axle , brace height , plus measured the string / cable that he removed from my TX-4 . He said the strings & cables measured the same and that the string I had removed was in fine shape . So far I am quite pleased with the Strings / Cables and the personal touch from those at Twiztd Strings . The picture with the brighter string is the new one . The original string is the dull colored one .
  15. I had taken mine to a local meat market in the past . The daughter of one of the owners said that even though your deer is tagged / identified , you don't necessarily get "your deer" returned . I don't want to get venison from some guy's deer that has been riding around in the back of a truck bed for a few days . I used to take it to a butcher shop in Rochester and felt they were honest plus I talked to a DEC guy there who was checking tags . The shop has been closed for a few years .
  16. Muzzyloader -- I havn't had any problem with string damage but it sure does squeeze the kee-rap out of the string ......
  17. I had a trail cam set up on a friend's property . No need for bait as it was on a trail . Never gave any thought when looking at the pics as I hadn't done anything wrong . Someone brought it to my attention that it looked like apples in the pic . When I checked the camera , none were there but I found out that a friend had put some out to "help me" . I told him I could get in trouble for that and pulled my camera from that spot . So , I guess I could see a person hunting a spot where someone else had baited .......... My experience was a camera but what if I had been hunting .
  18. Yeah , I saw that on the Yahoo NEWS last night . They are illegal except for the housekeepers . I wonder if her Stud Boy Juan is listed as a housekeeper ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/icon_smile_whistling.gif[/img]
  19. I have arthritis in my fingers and have some difficulty pulling the hide and especiall gripping the "silver skin" to cut it away but I make do cutting up 2 - 3 deer a year . It's rough getting old , but it beats the alternative !
  20. The newer ones have a round piece that acts as a butt stop to keep it from being pushed in too far .........
  21. They don't give back the stuff when they take it from drug dealers , why give it back to baiters ? If the items were taken while an individual was committing a crime , they shouldn't be returned ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/2cents.gif[/img]
  22. Make sure you clean your string every few waxings . Strap your bow on something so it won't move . Take a 12" piece of dental floss and put a loop in both ends . Tie the floss aroung the string near the serving and tighten . Put a pencil in the loops and pull . It will squeeze the old wax and grit out of the string . It works for me ..........
  23. Sits - . What is wrong with owning your own land , working it and wanting people to stay off of it ? The law won't help and does absolutely nothing to assist . She has confronted some of the tresspassers and they show no respect towards her or her property . She needs someone like Charles Bronson to go down there and kick some butt !
