Yes and No ....... I have seen a few articles on the PSE Tac-15 . It's a powerfull and has amazing accuracy out to and beyond 100 yards . Here I am at 69 years old shooting a 60 & 70 pound bow . Poor me , I should be able to use something much easier . I could have reached out and touched some of those deer with the Tac-15 .

Never got a shot but it was a treat seeing so many !

Depends on how much money you want to spend . I prefer the single shots ( New England Firearms ) . My 25-06 cost me less than $200 but the ammo is expensive so I reload for it . You can't go wrong with a 270 cal !

Has anyone ever driven through Cheshire , NY after Halloween ? That small village / hamlet gets TP'd from one end to the other every year . It's an annual event and the people in the hamlet supply the toilet paper . It takes them at least 3 weeks to clean up the mess !

Went to South Bristol this am and met my youngest son there . I walked him down to the stand that I normally use because he didn't know where the other stand was and then i headed forthe other stand . It was 29 degrees at 6:30 am . Just past 7:30 a 5 point came in behind me at about 5 yards . I was debating whether or not to take a shot and my hand was so cold I couldn't close the jaws on my release . Later on I saw a spike as well as 8 does between 7:45 and 10:00 . Somewhere around 8:30 I heard a noise and figured my son had taken a shot . Right after that 2 doe hauled butt through the brush behind me . Almost 1/2 hour later two more doe came down but there was too much brush to get a shot at all . At 11:30 I met with my son . He had shot a button buck from my stand and it wasn't hard to track . It went about 10 feet and dropped . His 810 grain arrows have some serious knock down power . I suggested that he go up to his truck and drive to the bottom and I would drag his deer downhill and meet him . That worked out pretty good . He took me up to where I was parked . Had some coffee and he headed for home to process his deer . He said that if I got in a bind to call and he would come back . Got in a stand on the opposite side of the gulley by 1:30 and stayed until 5:15 . I saw a 4 point , 8 doe and 3 not sures . I had a doe fawn come up the trail at about 15 yards . She looked pretty small ! Give her another year . It was a beautiful afternoon ! Someone was hunting the adjacent property and 4 doe came crashing through the small gulley south of me . Although I didn't get a shot , it was a great day ! Saw a bunch of deer feeding in the fields on the way home . I left South Bristol around 5:45 . I didn't want to hit one before dark and have to drive back down there in the am . There are some gulleys and nasty thickets . It's bad enough tracking during the daytime let alone at night .

Saw a total of 21 while in 2 different stands ( 22 counting the one my son shot ) . Saw another dozen on Buffalo Rd between 5 & 20 and Rt 332 just outside the Canandaigua City Limits and also a crapload od deer on Rt 28 between Canandaigua and Macedon .

Practice estimating distance in 10 yard increments and you can come pretty close . Pace off a 10 yard distance and remember how many steps it takes . When you figure out what tree you will be in , pace off the distance to a couple of other trees , etc for reference . When a deer shows up , it will give you a general idea of how far it is ....... If you go the Rangefinder route , remember , it's the horizontal distance that counts .

I would like to have had a crossbow today . The deer were out 60 -80 yards when they were passing through the woods .

Congratulations on finding your deer . Some folks might have given up the search . I wonder if the doe may have fallen a few times and caused the angle of the arrow to change direction . ???
-
You nailed it !

Like someone mentioned earlier , take her to a bow shop where they have a tech that has been around for a while . He may have some advice on a bow that would be easier to draw back . Don't give up .It's really great that she is interested . Don't let her lose that !

My father in law got me into deer hunting in 1965 . It was shotgun only and you could only shoot a doe if you had a "party permit" and the guy with the armband was the only one allowed to shoot . He told me , "if you knock one down , get to it fast and put another slug in it's neck . You might just daze one and he''ll get up and run on you " ! It was good advice !

Not just $1000 . You usually end up buying a new sight , rest , quiver , stabilizer , different arrows , etc and they all add up !
-
I think that's where they inplant the Micro Chip so they can find the buck to shoot it ......... ??? ... ??? ... ???

My oldest son was shooting a compound and gave it up for a recurve . He wanted more of a challange . I believe he has at least 4 recurves and the Black Widow cost him something like $900 ( more than a compound ) . He also makes his own footed shafts and sells some on EBAY .

Way to go Fantail . Still waiting on my 1st of the year .........
-
Neat video !

Something to keep in mind is ..... your older bow is faster than a recurve and a lot of archers are taking deer with a recurve and stick bow .
