  1. Excellent pics . An apple a day keeps the bear away !
  2. Thanks for the e-mail addresses . Some of these "save the world " Loonies go overboard with their thought process .
  3. I was shooting 100 grain Muzzy 3 blade broadheads and had good luck with them . After switching to mechanicals , I don't think I would go back to fixed blades .
  4. If the guys at Bowtech can shoot softball size groups at 100 yards , then the extra 66 2/3 yard would be a safety buffer ......')'>http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/picker.gif[/img]

    Hey Doc

Drove past the Avon Bowman's Property today . No sign of life .........
  6. Nothing to do with licenses but we still get mail for my mother in law who passed away over a year ago . I am tempted to fill out a change of address card with the address of the Cemetary . ( In reference to Deceased Lifetime License folks still getting them in the mail ) .
  7. I had a Kidney stone removed surgically back in the 70's . A pain in the pit of my stomach and right testicle would come unexpectedly and I would almost fold up before the surgery . After the surgery I was okay until the visiting nurse explained to me how they cut through the various layers to remove the stone . It was painful for quite a while but I have a high pain threshold . Just a few years later they started busting them up with ultra sound . The stone was a small oval shaped thing with tiny burrs . Oh yeah , good luck with your surgery SOB .......http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/beer.gif[/img]
  8. The guy that manages the Sports dept in the Webster Store acts like a real dick !
  9. Here is a Link for the NYS Environmental Conservation Officers Click on your region on the right side of the page on the link to find yours ........... http://www.dec.ny.gov/regulations/393.html
  10. I have eaten many buck tags but I will take a doe before shooting a spike . I have passed on the spikes and small racked deer only to have someone shoot them on adjacent property and that's all right . We set our own standards and if someone wants to shoot a spike and has the tag , it's certainly okay . I have never shot anything bigger than 8 pointers and I know that big one will be there some day . I'll be 69 this upcoming season so I am running out of time for the big boy to come along !
  11. I shot a doe with my Contender chambered in 7-30 waters . I got rid of the ported barrel and bought a plain barrel for it . I uded it about 3 times that season . I have taken my Ruger Super redhawk 44 mag deer hunting but never got a shot at any deer with it .

  13. I had never heard of the Empire Site . I was on the NYDEER site and it was pretty dead . Posted a message and e-mailed those that had an address and a few members from NYDEER came over here . Did the same thing on the NAHC site . Oh goodness me , i'm a Spammer ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/help.gif[/img]
  14. I can see someone who is handicapped and can no longer shoot a bow switching to a crossbow . But ...... I would think that same person would use a rifle / shotgun vs a crossbow during the gun season . The only way I see the switch happening is when the crossbow is brought into archery season . Then I would imagine it would add some women , kids and guys that don't have time to practice ( just like Ottie Snyder , the media specialist for Horton stated in an interview ) . No stats . No numbers . Just an opinion ........
  15. Hank Parker is on right now . They are hunting is Saskachewan , Canada . One of his son's was in a blind with an in-line . A big 8 point was on top of a knoll and his kid dropped the buck . I would be quite leary about taking that shot as even on a passthrough that bullet can still travel . I would want to be sure I knew what was beyond that deer !
  16. Do any of you that reload , crimp your cartridges . I ahd folks tell me not to as it would allow pressure buildup in rounds . The guy at the gun store told me that I definately should use a crimp die and he knows that I have them so he's not trying to sell me something . Opinions ???
  17. I butchered the buck I shot 2 years ago and got 52# of meat . During gun season , I shot a doe that was larger than the buck . I took it to a guy in Walworth that charged $68 to process the deer . A girl carried the box of meat to my truck . When I got home and lifted the box , it felt light . I weighed myself on the scales and then weighed myself holding the box . Box and all weighed 33# . At a processor , I got 20 less pounds of meat from a larger deer . That rip-off cost me over $2 a pound for venison ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]
  18. It's the manager's discretion to set the Clearance Prices at WallyWorld . I have bought stuff in Geneseo and figured the Webster store would have the same price . No way . The Webster hardly marks their Hunting Merchandise down .
  19. I have mixed results using a Grunt tube . The 1st time I ever used one was about 16 years ago . I had no idea how to use it and was just blowing the darned thing . I was in a stand in a brushy area of a fiel that the deer passed through . I head a commotion in the woods that sounded like someone breaking limbs and thought , no one else should be out here . I blew it a couple more times , heard some noise and saw a buck standing in the shadows at the edge of the woods looking at me . He knew exactly where the noise had come from . I learned to be more cautious after that !
  20. You get the Dick's gift cards and use the "X" amout of dollars off purchases from the Entertainment Book . If you get their SCORES Card and use that , you get a $10 certificate for every $300 spent . It's like Christmas all over again ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]..http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img].
