    I have more than I need for archery but I always check out the archery section in WalMart and Dick's ....... Walmart used to put their archery equipment out close to the start of the season . They have gotten smarter .

    Doubled up the 2 X 8 's on the bottom and single on top . Leave enough room for them to slide keeping in mind that the trunks don't move in any specific manner due to the variance of the wind .

    WEnt to the Batavia Party House this afternoon to their annual York Central School class reunion ( multi classes ) . Anyway , on the way back to Henrietta , the GPS took us on some back roads . When we got around Wheatland , I had to take it real easy and had to really slow down in spots where deer were crossing the roads . Never drove through an area like that before !

    Doc --- I have had nails pull out or break in the past . That I did to fix it was nail short pieces of 2 X 6 's to the trees for the base of the stand to rest on and nail and or cable the stand to one of the tree trunks . I even nail a 2 X 6 to a 2 X 6 to build it up . This lets the tree trunks sway a bit and the base slides on the 2 X 6 's . And yes , I check things out before climbing into the stand .

    They may hold back on the permits and then give them out with the extras at the later date . The DEC does make things confusing don't they !

    I am not positive but I understand it to be 2 chances if you pick 2 WMUs . I usually ask for 2 different areas just in case .

    I put up a 3' X 4" pressure treated stand in Geneseo about 15 years ago . I shot my 1st ever buck with a bow out of the stand . It's 18' up and between 3 big limbs . About 3 years ago , a tree dropped between 2 of the limbs and crushed the stand and broke the ladder . Of all the places for that to happen , it had to fall where it did !

    Trail cams will let you know there are deer in the area but they don't show up every day or all the time . But ........ I have been told by some hunters that a certain deer will always be at a certain spot each day at the same time . Makes me wonder if it's true as I would think he would set up for this "on time" deer and shoot it .

    I carry a Bi-Fur pod with me that I made . It can be used as a bi-pod or shooting stick . I'll have to make a DIY video on how to make it . Then again , maybe not . Very few go to that forum and wouldn't see it . :

    Red Green , the Duct Tape fix-it man that is or was on the PBS station is going to be at the Beyond Hardware Store in Penfield tomorrow between 2 and 4 pm ( at the plaza at Rt 250 and Rt 441 ). They were talking to him on the Home Repair Show this am . Red has written 5 books . He said that's more than he has read .

    My youngest son had a hard time dealing with cold weather and bought one of those Heater Body suits and said it is no longer a problem .

    Here is a pic of one of my son's treestands . It about 6' X 6" X 7' high and about 18 feet off the ground . 3 drop down windows and a door .

    Sometimes you have to use some common sense . I wonder if he could have gotten away with the time on the camera was set wrong and it was actually legal .
