  1. It sure looks like it would keep a trail cam secure ! Nice job ....
  2. Magnus makes a serated broadhead . I wouldn't use one but they must be selling them .........
  3. What's funny is when a bowhunter will spend $100 plus for something like an Bowtech Octane and then take it off when in the stand . For most of us the quiver is nothing more than a device to carry the arrows from your vehicle to your treestand / ground blind . Actually , a properly mounted quiver does more to deaden any bow noise . I either hang the bow on a hook , snipped tree limb or tie it to something .
  4. I remember , years ago , when guys used to use just the safety belt . When someone woule slip / fall , they would often end up hanging upside down . If the belt was placed higher on the body and a hunter fell and was hanging , it sometimes put pressure on the chest and shut off the ability to breathe . I wish I had kept the article that someone did on this topic several years ago .
  5. No big deal . Everyone hits a wrong key or may lose their train of thought . I have hit the keys out of sequence and catch most of my errors but not all the time .
  6. Do you leave your quiver on your bow when you are in your treestand ?
  7. I bought a Parker Phoenix EZ-Draw a few years ago . I changed the rest , the sight and added a string stopper .
  8. Bob Foulkrod , one of the Big Game Gurus , said at one of his talks, Anything under 55# use cut on contact only , anything over 55# mechanicals are okay . Soooooo , at 57# , I would think you would be boarder-line . You could use either .
  9. I will be 69 in September . I have a Parker Phoenix EZ-Draw set at 70# and a Ben Pearson TX-4 set at about 62# . I am shooting 430 grain arrows (Arrow Dynamic Big Game Hunters) with a 28" draw . I put a Trophy Ridge drop Zone on the Pearson and a DMI rest on the Parker (G5 makes it now) . DMI rest
  10. I use a Tru-Fire Bear Paw release .........
  11. Yup ---- the deer numbers are down ..........I lost count at 57
  12. A nice thing about using the vest is that it helps keep your clothes close to your body and out of the way .
  13. It's not the fall that gets you . It's the sudden stop ! ??? I don't think too mech of the harness' that come with the treestands but they are better than nothing . The HSS or anything similar is worth the money .
  14. I also don't see the need for serated broadheads but whatever floats your boat . Maybe call the DEC office and ask .
  15. I was getting a form sent to me yearly to report deer sightings ( also turkey , fox , coyote , etc) . It was done strictly during archery season . You had to mark down how many hours you hunted each day , the area where you hunted , and what you saw . At the end of the season you mailed the report to the DEC . They stopped it for a couple years and said it was due to lack of participation . I sent a letter to the Region 8 DEC a bout 3 - 4 years ago and 2 years ago I started getting the Report Sheet again . I never heard from the Regional office but I had yold them in the letter that if there was someone to contact , I could get some NY volunteers to do their report as we had several members on NYDEER . Oh yeah , after the 1st 5 years of reporting they sent me the patch ..............
  16. Do you use a Safety Harness when you hunt from a treestand ? If I forget my safety harness I won't go into a treestand . I have the Hunter Safety System . I initially felt it was kinda heavy but got used to the weight . Every once in a while I hear a horror story of someone taking a header out of a stand or just slipping and falling out of a tree . Personally , I don't want to become a statistic .
  17. That's an excellent point . I know a guy that did the same thing . Spent extra money to get a nice shiney barrel then had to camo tape it to hide the glare .......
  18. Or ................ You can click on the "browse" button where the Attach: is , browse your saved photos that you have on your computer , click on the one you want to post and if you are ready , hit submit . You can do multiple posts but don't get carried away ! And , it's best not to exceed 640 X 480 in size or it screws up the page .
  19. Obama needs to keep Biden on a "short leash" !
  20. I shoot the bow in the back yard . Do some reloading . Take the GPS and look for Geo-caches . Waste time on the computer . Take care of the honey-do projects . Go to functions that the Grand kids are involved with , etc ......
  21. I went down to Walworth to check on a stand today and almost got carried away by the Skeeters ! They were nasty !
  22. The only timeGander Mountain suits me is when it has sales . Other than that , the prices are inflated . I would probably never buy ammo there !
  23. You can use a muzzle loader during the regular gun season .
  24. No modification . It's that way because there is no safety . You pull the trigger and wonder why it hasn't fired then when you get it almost to the end , BAM ! I am expecting it to fire sooner . I may get a Lazer sight for it . I GOOGLED and found the Crimson Trace Lazer sight ranging from $155 to $250 . $95 difference for the same Lazer sight (LG 431) . That's weird !
