  1. Trail cams will let you know there are deer in the area but they don't show up every day or all the time . But ........ I have been told by some hunters that a certain deer will always be at a certain spot each day at the same time . Makes me wonder if it's true as I would think he would set up for this "on time" deer and shoot it .
  2. I carry a Bi-Fur pod with me that I made . It can be used as a bi-pod or shooting stick . I'll have to make a DIY video on how to make it . Then again , maybe not . Very few go to that forum and wouldn't see it . :
  3. Red Green , the Duct Tape fix-it man that is or was on the PBS station is going to be at the Beyond Hardware Store in Penfield tomorrow between 2 and 4 pm ( at the plaza at Rt 250 and Rt 441 ). They were talking to him on the Home Repair Show this am . Red has written 5 books . He said that's more than he has read .
  4. Their "migration time" ????????? THe damned things don't migrate anymore ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]...http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/pissed.gif[/img]
  5. My youngest son had a hard time dealing with cold weather and bought one of those Heater Body suits and said it is no longer a problem .
  6. Here is a pic of one of my son's treestands . It about 6' X 6" X 7' high and about 18 feet off the ground . 3 drop down windows and a door .
  7. Sometimes you have to use some common sense . I wonder if he could have gotten away with the time on the camera was set wrong and it was actually legal .
  8. I stopped at Harbor Freight today and saw a digital safe manufactured by Bunker Hill . Has anyone heard of them ? http://manuals.harborfreight.com/manuals/95000-95999/95824.pdf
  9. Yeah ...... and I got this on my trail cam
  10. 11. Sits --- Apparently your anger management sessions aren't working !
  12. I prefer the Millet rings . You can adjust some of the horizontal my loosening one side and tightening the other . A couple years ago I was at the local range . A shooter was swearing and complained that he had adjusted his scope as far to the right as he could and it was still off . I looked at it and realized he had Millet rings also so I told him to adjust the scope about 30 clicks left and we could get the rifle zeroed in . He told me I was nuts and I said "trust me" . Anyway , he moved the 30 clicks and I got out the allen wrenches and moved the scope . He didn't realize that he could do that . That's basically why I like that particular brand .
  13. I found the material that came with the scope and it didn't mention the distance other than before mounting hold it approximately 3" from your eye . I move it back about 1/2" and that made a big difference . Now I have to make a trip to the range next week to check it out .
  14. Holy kee-rap ! That is scarey all right ...... http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/help.gif[/img]http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/help.gif[/img]
  15. I have met Bob Foulkrod , Dick Bernier , Charles Alsheimer and Larry D Jones . Charlie Alsheimer was the most personable with Dick Bernier a close 2nd . When I mentioned Chuck Adams to the other two , you could see fire in their eyes ........ .. They didn't care for Mr Adams .
  16. Thanks for the replies . I havn't really measured the distance from eye to scope and I have had the scope on the rifle for a few years . I don't have a full field of view with the scope unless I lean way forward to see better which is not the proper way to shoot . I have to make some changes .
  17. Too cold for me . Two of my sons hunt an area in Pittsford with their bows during regular gun season .
  18. I'm betting on a Racoon .........
  19. A few years back , I was hunting with my sister in law on her property . We had a couple of guys ion adjacent properties that were hollaring back and forth across her property . I think they did it because she had kicked them off her property and they wanted to get even . I guess to be a good hunter , I should have offered to escort one of them to the other side of the field rather than get get upset and comment about it ......... : ... :
  20. For me , it would be Chuck Adams . I read his book "Life at Full Draw" a few years ago and was impressed with his hunting expertise . A lot of folks find Chuck arrogant .
  21. What is the correct / ideal / whatever distance from the scope on a rifle to your eye ? 3" ? 4" ? Better yet , what is the safest effective distance ?
  22. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind to have ATV insurance . It covers the ATV plus property damage in case something happens .
  23. Gthphtm ----- You let him grow up . Now it's time to put him down . Congrats on your patience !
  24. I checked CountryMax , Tractor Supply and WalMart . None of them had the stuff . It costs almost as much as the price to have Cabelas ship the stuff . I may get it anyway .
  25. I have the HSS harness but I am tempted to buy the Controlled Descent System . It looks like a real winner !
