It's not the fall that gets you . It's the sudden stop ! ??? I don't think too mech of the harness' that come with the treestands but they are better than nothing . The HSS or anything similar is worth the money .

I was getting a form sent to me yearly to report deer sightings ( also turkey , fox , coyote , etc) . It was done strictly during archery season . You had to mark down how many hours you hunted each day , the area where you hunted , and what you saw . At the end of the season you mailed the report to the DEC . They stopped it for a couple years and said it was due to lack of participation . I sent a letter to the Region 8 DEC a bout 3 - 4 years ago and 2 years ago I started getting the Report Sheet again . I never heard from the Regional office but I had yold them in the letter that if there was someone to contact , I could get some NY volunteers to do their report as we had several members on NYDEER . Oh yeah , after the 1st 5 years of reporting they sent me the patch ..............

Do you use a Safety Harness when you hunt from a treestand ? If I forget my safety harness I won't go into a treestand . I have the Hunter Safety System . I initially felt it was kinda heavy but got used to the weight . Every once in a while I hear a horror story of someone taking a header out of a stand or just slipping and falling out of a tree . Personally , I don't want to become a statistic .

That's an excellent point . I know a guy that did the same thing . Spent extra money to get a nice shiney barrel then had to camo tape it to hide the glare .......

I shoot the bow in the back yard . Do some reloading . Take the GPS and look for Geo-caches . Waste time on the computer . Take care of the honey-do projects . Go to functions that the Grand kids are involved with , etc ......

No modification . It's that way because there is no safety . You pull the trigger and wonder why it hasn't fired then when you get it almost to the end , BAM ! I am expecting it to fire sooner . I may get a Lazer sight for it . I GOOGLED and found the Crimson Trace Lazer sight ranging from $155 to $250 . $95 difference for the same Lazer sight (LG 431) . That's weird !

I took the pistol over to the Gun range this afternoon and dusted out the barrel with 59 rounds . I don't care for the trigger pull on the little Ruger ! ... ...

Some Mendon deer . I sat in a treestand last night to see what activity there was going on . Took some pics with a bino cam with a 5x lens . A couple bucks rubbed heads and did some light pushing . I was surprised .

My son has property in Yates County and I won't hunt there during gun season . You can now use rifles there . His property backs up to 1800 acres of State land . In the past during gun season (shotgun at the time) , it would sound like a gun battle on the State land . I was concerned about how it would be during rifle season . Apparently it was okay .

What ticked me off is ....... there is an "In" box and an "Out" box . They wait until the In box is stacked up before doing anything and then wait for the out box to fill before mailing . Try that with your monthly bills and see where it gets you ! > ......... ;)

I'm not really too much into Turkey Hunting but I once hunted with a guy that smokes . He had a small hole in part of his facemask to put the cigarette through . It really cracked me up !

I have a Ka-Bar knife with a 3 1/2" blade and about 7" overall length . It looks like the Ka-Bar Little Finn and was made in Olean , NY . I have had it for over 40 years and it has field dressed a lot of deer .

Well golly gee .... Guess what was in todays mail . The pistol permit addendum that I applied for on June 16 . I also got the slip for the National Instant Criminal Background Check Certification which is good for 5 years) . The addendum was signed on July 8 so it took 7 days to travel 30 miles from Lyons to Ontario . I hope to pickup the pistol this afternoon . It's a Ruger .380 acp ................yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa . Now I can quit crying about it !

I also see a lot of folks riding along the roadside and don't get pulled over but with my luck , I would get nailed when some Trooper or Deputy was having a bad day . I have that black cloud hanging over my head ! ???
