  1. That's an awesome machine right there. Not knocking you but for the love of all things holy please put a guard over that drive shaft! A simple piece of tin would suffice. You're probably the only one that operates it but still, that's got bad news written all over it. Is that grinder a #32 size? Those things are massive!
  2. +1 on the safety harness. Like AMEX. Have fun and keep us in the loop.
  3. 5'4" of pure metal awesomeness. Ronnie James. "Break the circle and stop the movement The wheel is thrown to the ground Just remember it might start rolling and Take you right back around"
  4. It's a bowhunting shot form issue. When you drop your bow arm you always shoot high. Bend and pivot your whole upper body at the waist to maintain shooting form. I absolutely suck at this and my bow shots are always flippin high. I practice and concentrate but it goes to crap when a deer shows up. Aim low with a bow! (Sorry, compound bow related not crossbow)
  5. 21 quarts chicken stock. Couple quarts, couple pints canned venison shank.
  6. That's a proud father right there! Congratulations.
  7. I'm sorry you're upset you feel judged. Happens sometimes though when you post on public forum. I was sincere in offering my and my "people's" help but sounds like you have it all figured out. So, much success to you hunting solo and the whole isolationist thing. A win/win for you, the coyotes and others.
  8. Welcome! Glad to have you onboard.
  9. Spoken too soon on my part. To each their own. Your question regarding NYS wanton waste law has been answered and your process as I understand the law is legal. Morally repugnant but legal. I can appreciate your circumstances (advancing age, lack of assistance and a desire to continue hunting) but with all due respect it might be time to review your methods. First suggestion would be to reach out to some people here to assist you in transporting all edible meat from field to truck. Feel free to pm me the gps coordinates as you mentioned when you connect. I'm sure i can gather up the people power to assist you when the time comes. Best regards.
  10. I'm going to rip and strip this year. Gutless baby. I'm on your side lol.
  11. You nailed the shiplap. The matching heights on the entry door and stairwell window are sweet. Planned I'm sure and that'll look tight when you're finished. I just see exstension jambs in your future lol. Tedious as you probably know but eh, doing it right is always worth the time. Pics! More pics!
  12. Nicely done. I had a flashback or three when I saw the lathe and plaster. Pure evil stuff. Please post up some pics of the moulding when complete.
  13. "I ain't no cheat I'm just a regular failure . . "
  14. And my apologies to 2012_taco for hijacking his thread. Where is he by the way? Taco! Are you done yet? Inquiring minds want to know how you made out.
  15. Haven't had time to listen to the entire episode but I don't disagree with what I've heard so far. Very informative. And I don't disagree with your opinions on aging venison and not butchering until rigor-mortis has passed for the best quality. We just hold different views on the process. FWIW I encourage you or anyone else that hangs a deer to investigate the "tenderstretch" hanging technique. A simple alternative to traditional hanging that makes a huge difference in meat quality imho. Your's may differ lol. I'm sure we'll discuss this again in the future. In the meantime, best regards.
  16. Feeling quite well this morning actually. I appreciate your concern for my well being. And my hope for you is to contunue learning and educating yourself on hunting related topics with science and fact, rather than old wives tales. Good luck to you as well this season. Best regards.
  17. Much informative info there. Thank you.
  18. This sounds appealing and I will listen to it later. TY.
  19. I could find it myself without doubt. I'm just trying to ascertain where all the "experts" on this forum go to get there info. I always looking for other's perspectives on how to get it done. Appreciate your comment with respect to Wolc but the constant self aggrandizing "experience" he spews daily could negatively influence a new hunter. Why's it so hard? If you're always presenting yourself as an expert, yet post anecdotal shit with no evidence but are then are asked to support your position and cannot, well . . .
  20. 10 minutes of time I won't be getting back after reading those articles. One unnamed author and a woman with a BA in literature. More fluff.
  21. Appreciate that but I was asking for a credentialed source. Something with citations, perhaps peer reviewed. A blog on venison care from an apparel company doesn't really cut it for me. Pun intended.
  22. I'm not asking Chef. I'm asking you. And "seriously though", since you're an expert on rigor mortise and meat care, I'd much rather have you direct me to a "google" article specifically supporting your claims. Preferably from someone credentialed in meat science, preferably with repeatable and non anecdotal evidence. It'd save us all time . . . Thanks
  23. Can you cite a credible source, other than yourself, to support these statements? Thanks.
  24. Process that brute asap. The sooner he's in the freezer the sooner you can go kill another one! Seriously, your venison will be fine just like it is. Happy eating!
