Great news! Kind of. This windfall will get pilfered at the federal level (illegal of course) and what's left passed down to the states. Here's some definitions you need to get used to hearing . . . "Conservation work" = Creating non hunting sanctuaries and travel corridors in the name of some biodiversity bs. "Hunter education" = Teaching you how to positively identify game species that will quickly become off limits (bears, mt lions, wolves, etc.) "Hunter recruitment" = Come hunting! Any weapon, any season in the name of inclusion. We want you to feel safe and comfortable while hunting so look for the "How to deal with antler shaming" self help group coming soon. "Shooting ranges" = More facilities? Laughable. I'm sure our NYS legislature's first priority w all that new money will be more ranges. "Wildlife research" = More studies and in time, regulations, brought on by today's pseudoscience and social image driven models of game management. Hate to be a pessimistic ass but I don't see sportsman and wildlife as benefitting much in the end.

I purchased. Still paying. Single is cheaper though. Hunt gear? Nada. Unless you're including crap turkey calls.

I ran across this last week and it seems applicable to this discussion. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/27/politics/climate-executive-orders-joe-biden/index.html Yes, I visit CNN and other liberal sites. The reason being the desire to keep tabs on and try to understand the mindset of the modern Democrat. Tough job I know but I do it for you guys lol. Clear your head of all previous views on the subject (momentarily lol) and see the linked article. Read it very, very slowly and very deliberately. Whilst slogging through the hope and change and fairy dust you'll recognize all the same key words and talking points used by the left for years (most already mentioned here). "Global leader", "crisis", "environmental justice", "good paying green jobs," etc.. If you read the article with no preconceptions you should also realize how easily the whole "green" concept plays into the minds' of today's illiterate populace. Skipping the debate on the legitimacy of him being president, the reality is that Biden and his cohorts are running the show right now and are committed to spending TRILLIONs of dollars on their quest. I have zero confidence that the Dem's "whole government approach" to heading off environmental catastrophe will ever amount to anything substantial, but, from a strictly capitalist and pragmatic point of view, if Joe's printing money I'm going to be in on the taking. Smart people and smart money should be busy NOW planning new businesses and products and researching new ideas to capitalize on the coming (like it or not), green revolution. Big or small companies it won't make a difference. In the near future the government will be handing out huge sums of cash, and anyone who's ever owned a business knows that the best paying client with the lowest expectations is your federal and state government. The Dem's concept is flawed and unattainable on many levels, and it's difficult to stomach listening to the hyperbole, but I won't let that stand in the way of my prosperity. I'm on my way to China soon to steal back some green technology. Just bought a new building and the plans for the chip/battery plant are moving along nicely. Most of my friends and family will be on the payroll lol. Best case scenario Joe makes me a millionaire and I help save the planet. Worst case I get paid and then tell Joe "Sorry it didn't work, I coulda told you that in the beginning." No matter where you stand on US energy policy, like it or not, change is coming!!! Embrace the opportunity and prosper or piss and moan and get left behind.

New riots in Rochester
Enigma replied to 9jNYstarkOH's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
That's not my position. Of course they had other options. They could have continued giving the girl commands to stop resisting, tried again to deescalate the situation and on and on. They also could have also pulled her out of the car, uncuffed her, dumped her in the snow in the street and left. I just don't judge a person's actions as right or wrong, whether they are trained or not, when they're placed in high intensity chaotic situations. I also don't criticize those simply trying to do their job, trying to actually HELP others when they are asked to do so, when they're put in a no win situation like this. Your definition of "serious threat" is different than mine. A handcuffed 9 year old could easily be a serious threat and in this instance she was. She may not have been a major physical threat to the officers after being cuffed (your definition?) but she was still a mentally unstable danger and threat to herself! And if I recall correctly had physical threatened her mother (why LEO were called in the first place.) So at the time of the video she was without question a serious threat to herself and others. Did it warrant pepper spray, I don't know. Bottom line is the girl was eventually taken to the hospital, the threats to herself and others were defused and hopefully she continues to get the help she needs. And no, rioting is never acceptable. Don't sh!t where you eat. When is BLM going to put up their own cash to fund the social workers to prevent these situations in the future? I guess rioting is less expensive than hiring qualified people. -

What's your definition of a "trained adult"? How many classes and seminars and college degrees does one require to be properly trained to manage a situation like this? Apparently none in your view. Please, tell us how you and your partner would have gotten her a little further into the car? Before you do though, let me give you my first hand example of a similar situation. At one time my ex wife and I were foster parents. We attended classes (trained) for 12 weeks before being approved to take in children. We also had two children of our own. Once approved we fostered several different children ranging in age from infants to age 12 or so. Some individuals, some family groups. Some relatively easy to foster, some more difficult. We'd been foster parents for less than 6 months when CPS called and asked us to foster "A", a 7 yo boy. We agreed of course. I won't get into all of the details but I will say this. "A" was a very disturbed young man and when he left us after a short stay it took FIVE "trained" adults over 4 hours to get "A" in the car for transport to the hospital. I repeat. FIVE adults. 4 hours. One 7 year old boy. One social worker, one police officer, two paramedics and one doctor. "A" threw himself out of a moving car suffering injuries, ran through town in traffic, severely injured the social worker's hand and violently kicked, screamed and resisted until finally being restrained (hands and feet) and sedated. A terrible, terrible episode for all involved, none more than "A". I'm sure those LEOs had "training" at some point in their career. Should they have broken out the training manual in the street and referred to the section on physically belligerent children before putting her in the car? Called a superior for permission before they sprayed her? I make no judgement on the actions of the officers in the video because I was not present that day. But to suggest that you, or anyone else with NO training whatsoever, when placed in the same scenario, would have managed the situation better is demeaning to the officers who responded that day. -

Revising my meat grinder setup and I could use some info. I have a home built unit with a #32 grinder run off a belt from an electric motor. At present the grinder runs too fast. I'm working on a plan to reduce the rpm. I've read that commercial units run +/- 80 rpm at the blade. Anyone know if this is true? What's the rpm of the blade on your home grinder? Ty.

If I'm starting to sound like a doctor or a dope dealer I'm sorry. I'm really neither lol. Best explanation for the headaches side effect I can offer is that CBD is nasty stuff to ingest. Its usually dissolved in small amounts of ethanol. Just enough to get it in solution. The purity and concentration of the CBD and more importantly the purity and final concentration of the ethanol, in a tincture, can make a difference in the occurrence and severity of side effects like headaches. An analogy would be when someone gets a hangover from consuming low grade booze. Your body's saying "Wth is this nasty stuff (CBD) in the system?" Combine that with the filler solvents common in tinctures (poison) and flavor additives to make it palatable and your body revolts. Kudos to you for giving it a shot though.

Absolutely. Kinda like scent lok clothing, hecs suits and my personal favorite, ozonics. The power of positive thinking.

I agree. But we live in NY and well, enough said. Right now NY is losing the revenue of people purchasing cannabis cross border similar to when people travel to PA to buy cartons of cigs or to NJ for cheaper gas. That's some incentive for NY to act I guess. But even when the models for state administration of industrial hemp growing, processing and sales existed in places like Oregon, NYS had to put their crap stamp on a decent model and blew their chance for success. Legalization in NY isn't far away though I'm sure and it will no doubt be intetesting lol. FWIW I honestly hope NYS does not legalize THC products anytime soon. From what I understand the free market model in effect now, although illegal lol, functions quite well. Getting the state involved in regulation of THC sales would benefit no one other than the state imho.
-
The "good stuff" lol. You can bet your mortgage that NYS (Cuomo) has a team of hundreds working on legalization right now. The #1 issue preventing legalization in NY is what else - MONEY. The current administration simply hasn't been able to develop a workable model whereas the state maximizes revenue and maintains control over the sale and possession at the same time. THC taxation would be a huge financial windfall for the state, they know this conclusively and they want that tax money bad. But in typical government fashion they're in no rush to legalize because there's 1) not a specific political advantage to legalization in NYS at the moment and 2) they realize that if they do legalize it will open up other issues they have no idea how to handle. The trial run so-to-speak of growing industrial hemp in NY was an administrative disaster for the state and financial disaster for NYS farmers. The notion that the state can manage a THC market 100x that size is laughable. At some point in the near future the state will legalize THC products and it will end up just being another debacle. But hey, at least we'll be lit when we're getting screwed.

Kimchi again. Imitation really, just cabbage, onions, carrots and Korean spices. My son eats it by the gallon. Going legit next time though with radish, dashima and raw shrimp. Gotta man up sometime lol.

It's all in the extraction. "Isolate", "distallate", "full spectrum" etc. Then you can find different concentrations ie "milligrams per . . ." The retail CBD market is a sh!tshow. There is zero control over labelling and what is sold to the unaware. Extraction with nasty solvents and cutting the product with any oil or carrier are shortcuts. Just please, buyer beware. My firsthand advice from someone in that biz is #1 buy local and #2 be informed. It's not a panacea and doesn't work for everyone but does have benefits when you hit on the type for you.

A book I picked up at OF Hardware during a camping trip. I have it somewhere. Cannot for the life of me remeber the title precisely. "History of large animals in NYS" or somehing. Now I gotta go find it . . .
