  1. My point is that if any previous industry was trying to get off the ground in today's age it would be about impossible. As far as wages, I can tell you from personal experience that the wages of the craft are far higher than almost any other sector of construction. I know two pipe welders that make 120,000 for working 8-9 months in Dakotas.
  2. I stand by it. Today he would t be allowed to move forward.
  3. I am sure glad that Henry Ford isn't trying to move forward in New York and today. We would be destined to riding horses. At a minimum there should have been a strictly monitored limited permits issued. New York is so great at regulating everything, I can't believe the ideal solution was a blanket "No"
  4. Yeah. He responded to my souther tier comment so I figured that is what he meant.
  5. Hope it works. I am getting sick of singing "Pine cones roasting on an open fire"
  6. Preferred whitetail food source. will ("use to" I mean) walk over and around about anything to get to them. Chinese Chestnuts are very popular right now and are blight resistant, since they were probably the contributing factor in the transport of the blight in the first place.
  7. Jennifer, were they logging or doing some fire wood removal. From what I have gathered today there are certain classifications of State land that will allow that occasionally but I can't find any reference to any actual logging contracts
  8. I can't find anything on the existing vertical fracking. anyone?
  9. Here is the problem for me. And this is ONLY my view. I believe there are steps that could be taken towards some measures that would be categorized and gun control . I think it could stop a few instances of violence, but not many. I think background checks, even on private sales is not a bad thing. I would love to see a national permit system. (shall issue) with appropriate background checks and should be unrestricted. If I have that permit it IS my background check. I want a new rifle, scan the card and out the door, assuming it hasn't been revoked. Now comes the fly in the ointment. The gun control groups even our representatives have been vocal about their desire to have private ownership of guns done away with. yes they are probably the extreme fringe of that movement but they exist and get the ear and camera of the media. so let's all get on board with background checks. Give it to them. Lest even register every last firearm we all won, Give it to them. Give in to the evil feature test and ban standard capacity magazines. Let's give it all to them. Hell lets do one better. Let's outlaw all semiautomatic rifles, shotguns and pistols. They are now a felony. Turn them in or go to jail. That is giving them more than most publically want, right? What is going to happen to the crime figures? number of murders? So as long as we are playing this game, what is the next step if they don't go down? Do you believe the gun control groups will say "Oh Well we tried"? They are incremental and have proven it. That is why I believe they (whoever they is) need to do this the right way. Modify the Constitution. they don't like the wording and don't like the interpretation of it. They believe it is outdated and wasn't meant to be applied as it is. Write it up and change it. There is a process and pandering to the screaming special interest groups isn't it. Let me take a stab at it as long as I am dreaming. "An armed citizenry, being necessary to the security of a free State, Formal training and possession of a firearm shall be required.”
  10. Wow if that didn't sound like Obama. (You didn't build that) The country enabled them to make their money? If you mean the opportunity was there for them, then yes I agree with that. Just as it is for everyone else too. I'd argue it may be easier for the less fortunate that want to apply themselves to make it with all the financial aide opportunities than to be in the middleclass. that is where it is tough. can't get the aid and can't write the check. Trust me, I am no where near those brackets, but I can't feel jealous and want what they worked for taken away because I don't have it.
  11. No one here is probably surprised you aren't for people keeping what they earn.
  12. Target was picked because at that point they were holding firm to the "whatever is legal" stance and not giving in to the Rabid Mothers Against (Insert cause of the day here). It was a firearms friendly environment. The police were also there.
  13. I've never been accused of being Left...lol. But in the course of every day normal activity if I see a gun (and I am not talking about noticing a CCW on someone), it does get my attention, If the person is in hunting clothes as Doc mentioned I am more likely to pull over and ask how their luck was. While standing in line at the bank to make a deposit.....probably not a similar response. It is sad really where we have come as a society. I can remember going to school with the gun visible in the vehicle to catch a couple hours of hunting after class. I can remember pulling out a new knife I got for Christmas to show the guys, only to have the teacher show us the one he got as well. Having a knowledge of guns and how to safely handle them was the norm, not the exception where I grew up, especially long guns. To bad it isn't the same today.
  14. You do realize it was part of an organized and publicized demonstration. They were outside too. Folks shouldn't have been surprised by it. It wasn't like they were eating breakfast in a diner and a group totting AR's and AK's strolled through the door. I would like to add that in the normal course of a day, I see no reason to open carry in an environment like this and I would be watching anyone that did with concern. Situational awareness. Personally I don't want a bad guy to know I am carrying. I don't get some States take that you can open carry but need a permit to conceal carry.
  15. Did this do anything to the existing vertical fracking that is currently being done?
  16. I believe they are Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Tioga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Delaware, Steuben
  17. The word need is not a litmus test for the right. It is a predetermined conclusion not a condition.. Not if it is needed. It IS needed.
  18. Have you seen any of it taking place? Not a pissing match, I am truly trying to find out. Has it been done?
  19. Weird, Place I felt the safest in years was at the Albany march against the Safe act and I only knew a handful of folks there.
  20. To me just shoot it...lol. Unless you are going onto a lead restricted area, then if you can't prove it, go buy new.
  21. Andy would NEVER risk pissing off his City Enviro cooks. They would be marching and he'd be in law suits up to his eyeballs. This whole thing was a set up from the start with NO intention to ever allow fracking. I am actually surprised it wasn't allowed by him. Picture this.....He allows it on a very limited basis, for a two year evaluation or some short period. Maybe in a handful of rural counties. The law suits would have been filed immediately and it would have been held up for years to come. By that time NY is too late to the dance (and they probably are now anyways) and it wouldn't even be worth doing here. Every time Natural gas gets cheaper it is less cost effective to start new wells. He could have had his DEC lacky announce it, did his apology tour about how it isn't his belief but the fault of the system. When he made his presidential run he could have used the same argument for the primaries and been able to say he didn't stand in the way if he made it to the general election. (taking my tin foil hat off now)
