  1. But Chuckie Schumer promised the Remington jobs wouldn't leave.
  2. Seem to recall the 6 an 6.5 are about split with the 30's at the 1,000 tables. I agree that they get the nod but we are talking about hunting rifles and specifically the 308/'06. the majority of which are pretty much out of the box. If any modifications have been done, it is likely to be mods like triggers. In our world the difference is not perceptible. IMO
  3. I have heard this stated before and never get it. I don't understand how the 308 cartridge can be more accurate that .30-06 cartridge. I can get one gun being more accurate but not a caliber.
  4. how is that bullet when you load the second and third on a dirty barrel? seems to push really hard that first inch or two.
  5. And they have some very nice managed recoil rounds.
  6. Phade and Elmo, what are you loading it with? right now we have used 250gr shockwaves with 100 and 150gr 777
  7. Depends on the price Ranger. I am currently trying to help a buddy get his set up and sighted in. There was crap in the firing pin spring out of the factory and it would only fire about every other time. accuracy at 100 yards is about at 4" but we are still playing around with the loads and rounds. I think the thing new was like $150 or so.
  8. Ballistics have very little difference at our hunting ranges. AND from what I have seen on the shelves the 'ought 6 is more available. I can't imagine what he is basing that on other than the one advantage of the 308 being a short action.
  9. Similarly constructed bullet, the Sierra game Kings in the Federal Vitalshok work about like the Powerpoints.
  10. Well they are!!!! no such thing as perfect symetry
  11. If you don't see hair or berry seeds I would agree it is deer. I have seen bear scat pelletize like that when on heavy grass and corn diet but seems to still always have hair in it.
  12. It is a Hippie turd. Even left his flip flop
  13. Too bad. You guys know one side of the rack is always bigger than the other, don't ya?
  14. If it is a tall tined typical I take that one. Other wise the Non typical gets it.
  15. ...." He say with his head tipped back , looking down his nose at us mere mortals"....LOL
  16. Great round for whitetail. If it shoots well out of your rifle you will be fine.
  17. For years I had a stand in a tree that was about 5' off the ROW fence to 390. was a very productive stand because the fence acted just like a funnel. being that close made sure all my shots were away from the road. Noisy but it was a great stand to hop in quickly for an evening hunt. Plus the noise masked my approach and any of my movements.
  18. Only one way to know for sure. Only other thing that will increase your odds in the future is to salt the hell out of it. I lost a hide because even though I froze it the hide must have insulated so well the center of the wrap didn't cool down fast enough to stop the bacteria and that causes the hair to slip..fall out. I have a mount and my Father's rug so If I get another one I will probably get a rug done and sell it. Probably one of the few mountings you can get your money out of or make a few bucks.
  19. or nylon shelled and felt lined snowmobile boots.
  20. I wear rubber boots if I am not doing a lot of walking and it will be very marshy. The ones I have fit loosely because the way my foot is I have a terrible time getting them on and off. My go to boot (on my 3rd pair) is the Irish Setter Elk Trackers. warm, waterproof with a fully gusseted tongue. comfortable and great traction. They have held up better than any boot I have ever owned.
  21. Did you take all the fat off before you froze it?
