That is why I thought an automated system like we use at work and HIP has would be perfect. Everyone has access to a phone. Hell even if you guys gotta have all these fancy sliding feeling scales there is no reason when the license is purchased the paper questionairre is handed out so folks can pre read the questions. Then get on the phone. punch in your license number and answer the questions. EVERYONE..

I used the HIP system for years and do understand what it is used for. The point I was making was not TO use HIP but a system similiar that is utilized for gathering the hunters views on the topics. Everyone has access to a phone. Understandably this is just information but I can guarantee you there will be conversations after conversation when this survey is done questioning results, participation and how it was all done. Mark my words it happened with the last one. The results were gray and the information gathering and use was very poorly explained. You put all that together surrounding a topic that is already bitterly dividing the hunting population and you just end up with a bigger divide. There were topics after topics on this forum and others surrounding the previous study. There were both sides quoting results that supported their position. and for the most part both sides were right. Same went for the crossbow topic results. What might even be worse than The DEC getting the results and moving on them is them, yet again, doing another study and doing squat.

Dump some air then go dump a big buck.

Is that a room where the needle valve is working? Usually the upper floor is the hardest to bleed.

How do they meet that mandate with any change? there are always those in opposition and those without (or limited) access to the resource at equal levels. What standardd are they measuring this by? By the way, I would have thought with some of your previous posts you have made about changing regulations that you would have read the survey, at least out of curiosity.
-
The survey doesn't even approach those subjuects. DId you read it? There is no possible way to even infer the standings of the participants in those areas. I could almost buy the argument if it went into questioniing things like where you mostly hunt. How the people around you hunt? It is silent in any tangible aspect other than "feelings" It is squarely around AR's and the desire for bigger bucks. Firearms season length Doe harvest numbers Current satisfaction level in a few categories.

Hmmm,. seems to work pretty well in an election. If it makes you feel better. use 3 answers. Yes - NO and IDGAF I know exactly why they aren't using it. IT IS BUSINESS just as it is for you. I don't begrudge anyone a living but to sit there and try to sell anyone on why a conplex survey and huge analysis is required to find out if the hunters of NY prefer white or wheat bread is BS and no amount of posting will convince me other wise. Your business has a vested interest in it BEING dificult and does Cornell.

He's a beauty Geno. Way to go!!!

Would probably work great ....for a while...until a large chunk of the population of 1.5's are taken out of the chain again. I am losing faith in the ones steering our management system. Seems like it takes forever to make any changes at all and ones that are made make no sense to me. Like the new licensing structure. Here we are as taxpayers in one of the highest taxed states in the country and they throw us a tid bit cost reduction and then turn around and give a BIG reduction to the NON Resident licenses. They will do their survey, stew on the results, issue a multi page report that wont say anthing any different that the one a few years ago, they will toss out a few possibilities and hold public comment periods and nothing will be done. Or at least it something is done both sides are going to hold their heads and wonder what the hell the the point of the change was.
-
Mark my words, they will issue a report that creates more questions that answers. I understand you make your living making simple issues into complex ones but this really isn't a difficult task. As I stated where i work we set up a phone survey for employees to gather information. The employee calles in . is asked to enter their employee number (could be your license number) Then there are a series of 6 questions with 1 for yes and 2 for no. Results are available in spreadsheet format at any time. Cost was less than $20,000. and we control the questions and can modify them ourselves at any time to reflect new open positions available. SO it may be out of my butt but that does seem pretty simple. At that point, just like HIP is should issue a number to validate your license.

Real world accuracy
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Doewhacker's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I can clover leaf with my 06 at 100 and with the federal premiums at 200 it is less than 2" on the bench. I have never shot it on paper at 300 but 6" x6" steel targets at 300 are an easy feat for the gun. I am still trying to duplicate the performance with my hand loads. Beat I get at 200 is 4" -
Few shots but not as many as usual. I saw some good bear sign but no bruin showed

Let's not get melodramatic for heavens sake. We are hunting. Not evaluating a new propulsion system for the space shuttle

First you can't even compare the two. Hunting is not a Constitutional right. Second. This is one reason why I have stated so much that a full inclusion "vote". Needs to be done. To put it to rest. Without it there will be speculation from both sides
-
As long as he is not starting to huntin the two years following the regulation he probably wouldn't notice a difference. Honestly it means more to the hunters that have had that choice. If you grew up with it you wouldn't think twice about it.

good luck. Where are you headed?
