I believe that is JUST his tax break out for the fire portion
-
I think Doc is talking about the 500' rule and these blinds. If you put one on your property line and it was determined to be an occupied structure you could efect hunting on 500' of your neighbors land. He then could build one next to you on his property and keep you from hunting on your land. I would love to see an official ruling on this.

Hector, correct me if I am wrong but I think even the Volunteer departments in NY get some funding from the counties they are in. That way they all respond to each other in mutal aid conditions.
-
I would bet that buck broke it off battling. If you haen't seen this guy on camera (and even if you had) the fight could have taken plave 2 miles away. i think DOC is correct. buy the lottery ticket. "But hey, you never know"

I am not following you. which opinion are you supporting?

I didn't read any mention of kids...and those are the ones my heart bleeds for. Sounded like a woman and her boyfriend living there. I know this is only one case and many instances could be different, but!!. If I told my 16yo daughter that in two months she HAD TO HAVE $75 there are dozens of ways she could earn it. I really feel this was a choice to not have the coverage. Truely poor and less fortunate folks I feel for. Lazy ...I have nothing but contempt.

Protected And Unprotected Wildlife In New York State, nearly all species of wildlife are protected. Most species, including endangered species, songbirds, hawks and owls are fully protected and may not be taken. The few unprotected species include porcupine, red squirrel, woodchuck, English sparrow, starling, rock pigeon and monk parakeet. Unprotected species may be taken at any time without limit. However, a hunting license is required to hunt unprotected wildlife with a bow or firearm. Game species may be taken only during their open seasons and as summarized in this Guide. If we don't view them as wildlife becasue they came from a farm....try shooting Farmer John's Black angus steer that gets out and see if tickets get issued. I bet they get cited -

they get charged. Said it could still happen. I bet there will be civil suit filed for the value of the elk by the farm. -
Really less than the cost of many treestands out there. We put two of these ou this year. they are 4'x4' and 6'4" high at the low end of the roof. (regulated at that height so my head doesn't hit...lol) It cost us about $110 for each one. they can be tipped down by two guys and into our trailer we pull behind the wheeler and relocated if neccessary. we had to stay low to the ground or visibility would have been a problem. onw is 2' off the ground the other is 4' . We are putting up anoth one next year in an area that will require an 8' platform height.

I think they view it like livestock. I think in NY everything is protected unless they specifically call it out as an unregulated species. IE red squirrels. Pigs they have added to unregulated and it is open season on them. so I gues even farer John's pig had better stay in the pen. These hunters had ought to thank their luck stars they weren't up north and stumbled across a moose. i think they would have been drawn and quartered by now -

Give that man a cigar!! and they were within shotgun range too. The one loaded it in his truck...lol. -
You guys read this article and tell me anything you read that really makes your hair stand up. A couple things really frost my crumpette http://blog.syracuse.com/outdoors/2011/12/deer_hunters_mistakenly_shoot.html

It was a trailer. thee is another one in the background and the article said the woman of the house watched from across the street. Leads me to believe possibly a park and wht would they have leined? Ever see a trailer go up? it really doesn't take that long and not much of a fire will total it. I think as first responders they should have put it out. They probably had to respond even though they wouldn't fight it due to the adjoining property. (those folks probably paid their fee) The other article link says just that thing happened in the other fire

"occupiers"

Top notch company you guys have. Dad and I thank you for the great experiences our lease has brought us.
-
It was a trailer. I have no way of knowing but many of the parks the trailer owners don't even own the property and don't pay taxes. Read the other article they link to about the previous case. The Fire Fighters groups are NOT happy about this decission. It is all political. sad...reallllly sad.
-
It wan'st the Town's fire department. It was the nearby city's fire department. That is like paying for a burger at MsDonalds and trying to pick it up at the Burger King drive through...lol. The town couldn't lean anything becasue they didn't provide the service
-
Many rural ares don't get city coverage. but that is why many volunteer companies were started. I think it is BS and just politics. The fires should have been put out but what about other public services. If you don't pay your water bill you get your water turned off. If I don't pay for a company to pick up my trash I am out of luck there too. I know those are not life safety things but I would be interested to hear if the first question the fire fighters asked when they arrived was "Is anyone in the home?". I also don't want to be too judgemental but I can't help but wonder if they chose not to or couldn't pay the fee and had high speed cable, a $30,000 pick up, big screen TV. Say they didn't have fire insurance and lost everything.....we will end up paying for them anyway so why not just put the darn fire out.
-
I bet they pay city taxes and that does cover the fee. The rural don't pay the city taxes and then don't benefit from the services unless they cover the fee. Just a hunch but I bet our NYC members can appreciate a city tax on top of all our other ones. I bet the department was there not only for life rescue but to keep it from spreading to homes that DID pay their fees.

Almost looks like a cross between a Jacobs sheep and a whitetail...lol
-
I can't say that surprises me in the least. One question...since I don't have kids in this age bracket. can a 13 yo bow hunt during the regular season if they use a bow?
-
These are designed for a smooth bore and well lead up your rifling in the barrel like crazy.
-
they do buy them , gray and red. I did it a few years when I was fishing more. I think the best deal they had though ws not taking the money on the tails. instead it was like double the cash value on credit towards the lures they made. That is what I did.

Heart shot? what did the exit wound look like? I have heard good results if you get into a heavy bone like a shoulder. Most of the horror stories I hae heard have been on broadsides with nothing hit to force the expansion.

points and antloers aside....look at the freaking bases on the rack. I didn't know there was enough room on a head to have bases that big...lol
