I had the same problem with one of our older cameras because of the HD. I format the card after downloading the pics everytime. Not sure if it does anything or not but it only take a minute.

And yet another fatality . . .

Heart breaks for family. The way this is reported it sound like PURELY a case of not identifying your target....hunting 101. I hunted a lot of years in red /green and black wool and a lot of guys did. I can't say I remember one time ever thinking a guy was a deer. Even hav seen some walking around in brown Carharts. I can only speculate but I can't say orange would have stopped this. We will never know for sure. Where I think BO really helps isn't in misidentification of a target but more in helping a hunter to stand out in the background. Hunting 102...know you backstop. A camoed up hunter sitting in a bush or at the bottom of a tree may not be seen if a deer were to be inbetween them. In a situation like this i think the hunter getting shot does bare some blame. Not in the first case. Hope that made sense. -
One I saw taken had fresh cuts on his face. I had never seen the ear notches WNY talked about until my 9 point from last year. I have to believe with the force they use to snap off tines or main beams, flesh would get torn prety easily. Was it really infected Grow?

Yeah he was bummed. The Lo was sitting on the line. it was during bow season and the deer literally dropped about a 100' over the line. LO saw it crossed and he waited for my buddy to come through on the blood trail. What can you do. I went out there the next day and you could lierally see the gut pile from the property line. The sad thing is it could have built a relationship if it was handled differently. Now that LO won't have a prayer of tracking on to their property. -

Nope landowner claimed it and tagged it and the DEC and my buddy watched it get loaded on a wheeler. The guy had it mounted and everything.....Bet he had a great story made up about it...lol -
Type of gun/rifle

BUT...if you compare guage to guage I bet they are the same. What are the numbers for a mossy 12 with wood and and 870 in syn...both 12 guage -
From what I gather an established colony can clean a head in less than 2 days.

I know what you are saying. But, I have hunted many tracts of State land her in Ny and I can't think of any that aren't marked with those cute little signs and the entire boarder painted with that puke yellow colored paint. Our lease actually boarders State land and we have had a couple folks wander across and haven't had an issu with them leaving when we explained th boundry. I guess we knew from the get go the lay of the land and it would be a possibility. I guess legally if the land falls into that unimproved part...you get one free pass. Personally worrying about getting "caught" on someone elses land itsn't worth the frustration. And as a side note. If the DEC and or Police are called on you during that first mis step onto someone elses land and you have a deer down....It is owned by the landowner. Happed to a friend. The landowner took the deer under the observation of the police and DEC. The DEC tried to smooth it over so my buddy could get his buck but no dice. He lost a beauty because of it. (He shot it...It wondered onto unposted property and died) -
So when are we having that cookout get together thing anyway

http://www.barebonesandbugs.com/ You can also buy the beetles yourself....LOL. good luck with that one. I wouldn't suggest having tose critter out and running around your house...Might make for a restless nights sleep
-
Had my bear skull done by beetles...It came out PERECT. Every detail is there and the teetha re intact. If you can swing it I would highly recommend it. It looks polished after they are done.

Yet another treestand fatality in NY

I wear my old style over my outer clothes but do you have any idea what a pain that is because it blockes my pockets and really impacts my ability to chain smoke in the stand -

HHS AND new hunting clothes...the wife is gonna kill me. " But honey I have to get new hunting clothes so I can be safe". I am betting she will just up the life insurance...lol. I figured it had to be something like that. A strap coming oout by my collar would absolutely drive me nuts all day. -

Dave....how do you get the attachment strap out through your clothes to anchor to the tree? -
The snow won't bother them at all. Their Russian cousins and the European strain all of our domestic pigs came from were once wild and Europe has snow. I have seen pics taken by my B-I-L of trails down by Cortland and the Pig trails were right through the deep snow.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Congrats to the newly hooked hunter.

Buy braided line for your hoist ropes, they tend not to turn as much as twisted rope. I like to use a rope because I tie in a loop to slip around the gun stock and a 1' tail with a caribiner on it to attach my pack or anything else I want up there. I like the boot for the muzzle to go in on this though.

Shawn, Go back and reread the posts. no one was calling him names. The moron comment was not directed at the OP , it was at the other poster Sully and it was tounge in cheek because he said folks were gonna call him moron. Just as you said the guys actions that fell were careless.....they have been called stupid and speculation was made to a "macho-man" attitude. What is wrong with that? When did we actually turn into such a group of PC pansies that we can't call stupid, stupid? We can have conversations about a variety of topics but no matter the topic there will always be differing views. I have read many threads on here especially poaching where so many are talking about policing our own. That should be applied to more than just poaching. If I see or hear someone doing something that I don't think will reflect well on the sport I will call them on it...just like I hope others will do with me. I don't think debate is a bad reflection on the sport and in any conversation involving passion (I hope we all have that for our sport) there will be tempers and outburts involved. That is life and not just isolated to hunting. Just my 2 cents -
Feral Pig in Marion Ny

I wondered the same thing!! I really wonder how good our regional folks are at aging pigs...lol. Luckily they haven't had too much experience in it. And I hope they don't get good at it for a long time. A few of the farms I was on had pigs but I can't remember a 1 year old ever getting to 300 pounds and they had a lot better eating that a wild one I am sure. Any of you guys raise them and seen them get to that weight in a year -
No Pygmy not you specifically...lol. I know a lot of it is personal preference but I was wondering if there was anything documented on the actual function side. I know way back the variables had a wrap (deserved or not) that they did not hold zero as well as fixed. It was also claimed that that the POI would change as you dialed up the magnification. except for any varmit rifles I have / had owned I have really only gone up to 10x and that is a 2.8-10 on my ought 6. everythign else is 2-7 or 3-9....fixed 4 on my Winchester 94. I like the higher magnification. I honestly believe it makes me hold steadier. All the scopes are on lowest setting and if time allows I dial up longer distance or tighter conditions. I only had two guns growing up to hunt deer with and both were just a brass bead..single shot and an old Eastfield pump. Dad said if I wanted anything better I would have to buy it. My first new gun was an 1100 and I scoped it right away. So really I have never taken a deer with iron sights, always been a bead or scopes. Now as far as the 50mm lens .. I don't have one any more- It was on a varmit round. I just checked and my 2.8-10 is a 44mm (whick has as good an image as my Leupold VIII 6.5-20x50). I really only hunt with that for big game. kinda like my favorite pair of shoes. Have I ever needed it for light gathering. I guess except for the baited bear trip in the heavy pines....nope. But if it gathers more light (looks aside) it isn't hurting anything? DO I need 10x...probably not...do I need 44mm...almost never. If I don't mind the extra weight and the looks and the extra money to get good lenses, am I mechanically giving up anything with the modern variables? I really am asking and not busting balls here. I have heard alot of folks say they aren't as good just likking for info to use in future decissions.

Yet another treestand fatality in NY
Culvercreek hunt club replied to nyslowhand's topic in Bow Hunting
Wow...if I ever skipped a harnes it wouldn't be in a climber. Ladder stand with shooting rail ..ok but I have taken a ride down the bark highway before on a climber and it was not fun. Yes it was a lot older style but Nope...not skipping a harness on a climber. And Steve,.....great comment about how our fathers did it..On the ground----.red and black wool clothing (if they were lucky) rickety old guns reaking of Hoppes...wander into the woods smelling of this mornings bacon and eggs at the diner. With a Cig hanging out of their mouths. LOL. Good 'ole days -
Good Lord, man...is your neck broken...Look under your stand...lol. Poke one will ya!!

If it had brown on it it wasn't an albino. I believe they call tehm Piebald. An Albino woul dbe all white with pink eyes. totally void of pigment. A piebals will still have eye color and not have the bright light sensetivity.I have only seen one and it was really really cool. I would love to score a deer like that to mount. Buddy of mine took a doe like that and had a deer rug made out of it. Came out great
