Would like to see the one buck rule. AR's state wide...never going to see it in NY at least in my life time. Then the license numbers will increas again becasue all the non-hunting spouses, children and relatives will be getting their tags to "hand over" to the hunters in the families. I still think that is a factor in hunter number drops since doe tags are so liberal now. (coupled with license fee increases)

no idea. maybe it was and if it hadn't the price could have been higher. Just more of the same political BS. I would think they could use a system like NY but that would require the people )and politicians) to get behind a tax increase. We see how popular those are in the current economic environment.

I didn't mean to imply the fees were for the mutal aid calls. I was trying to convey what you said but you did it much better. The fire departments get county/town funding for their operations regardless of where the calls are. THis is a pretty nice read for an explanation of how NY handles fire protection. I guess a broken clock is right twice a day becasue I think they have this one right. I ca't see why something like this can't be done in other areas of the county to assure things like this don't happen. http://www.nyslocalgov.org/pdf/Fire_Protection_in_NYS.pdf

And personally I think DEC wants the yotes "help". I thik the population of yotes is very high in certain areas of the state (it is in 8H). Over the last two years I can't even tell you how many does I see in the summer eating in the bean fields and very very few fawns. I really htink they are counting on the Yotes to take a heavy toll. That is the only reason I can see why they haven't lenghtened the season or impose a 12 month season.

Dave. You are unreal. Read my posts. I agree with you that I think they should have put it out. I am not going to play a bleeding heart liberal card to try and justify the irresponsibility of the homeowners. And don't get down on the fire fighters...this was political and if you read the other link to the other fire you would see the fireman and their organizations are up I was arms about the political decision.

So your assumptions are correct. It is just others peoples that are wrong....got it. The media and the womans quote seemed pretty clear. Didn't pay for the service because they didn't think they needed it. Her quote

Remind me never to book a motel room next to you and your wife Burt..lol

WOW...where in the heck would you even start to measure something like this. I bet if 12 guys measured it they all would get different numbers. That deserves a full body mount on that one. -
I loved that skit. Actually saw a survival instructor do that to a bunch of kids using peanut butter deer turds. I thought they were gonna puke...lol

They are not accusations that they are being irresponsible. Those are the facts. They irresponsibly CHOSE not to pay the fee for a service that they didn't think they were going to need. I don't have to knw them. I aslo don't have to know you to draw conclusions from your posts, similiar to you. You concluded I am heartless because I don't have a problem holding people accountable for their actions or inaction in this case. I conclude you are the type to turn a blind eye at actions and not hold people acountable.

Have you read any of my posts on this thread? I feel for them and If they were my neighbors you bet I would be helping them out. My frustration level is more with guys like you that want everyone to get a free pass and not be held responsible for their actions,. No one is ever going to convince me that if they had CHOSE to pat the fee they coulnd't have come up with the means to get $75 bucks together in a 12 month period. Hell the pan handlers in downtown Rochester make more than that. Call me cold hearted....I'm fine with that. We'll just have to agree to disagree on wheter folks should be responsible for themselves
-
I actually think you hit it on the head and that is why it seems we do get a good number of mature bucks out here. the ones that don't make it to the safe areas )either from bad luck or just dumb...lol) get about totally cleaned out and after season the others filter back in and distribute a little more evenly.

looks like der hair,,,,,smells like deer hair....You didn't by any chance taste it did you? That might really narrow things down...lol.

It is gray, Jen. "In use" could be a chicken coop or a tool shed that the peson goes out to once every couple months. . If you were inbetween two neighbors that had it in for you and you had over 50 acres and were only 1000' wide on your parcel.....they could basically squeeze you out with structures so you couldn't hunt your land.

Tha last winter kill I saw, Doc was around 79 or 80 in the Tughill area. I gre up hunting 6r and 6s and hadn't seen any issues. When I moved to Rochester I hunted mainly 8N and 8H. 8N popolations are way down compared to what I remember seeing in the early to mid 90's. 8H. well that is another story. in the area I am in the land access can be a bear and the population is still very strong. It is one of those areas were they never give out all the permits they want to. Lat year I think they still had left overs going into the last week of the regular season. It can be tough hunting here though becasue thee is just enough pressure that they head to one of the little blocks were no hunting is allowed. Gives the appearance that they up an vanish. Typicaly the last weekend of shotguna nd ML week is good here becasue they start to filter out of their safe havens for food sources. The weather has been so nice I don't know how it will do this year but I think the numbers are very stong here still.

as long as your bow tag is an either sex tag....that is correct

Page 26 of the regulation guide. regular season buck tag-- Antlered Deer Only Except: May be used for Antlered or Antlerless Deer as follows: • In Westchester County (WMU 3S). • In Suffolk County (WMU 1C). • In areas restricted to bowhunting only. (WMUs 4J and 8C) • In late seasons (with bowhunting or muzzleloading privilege). • Next Fall, September 27–30, 2012 in the Northern Zone bowhunting season with 2011/12 bowhunting privilege.

Deerthug. your regular season buck tag is good for a buck or a doe during the late season assuming you have the bow and or ML license to go with it.
-
with you finger on it it is definitely deer hair. I gott say the yote comment was probably right. That would also explain the dog going bonkers
-
hard to tell from pictues but it could be rabbit fur. with no tracks that could be a hawk kill.
-
Yes

You say heartless. I say responsible. They weren't and you can't explain that away!!
-
Agreed. i thik your target could still be out there. Good luck

If it were me I'd hire them to do something. We have a single mom of three that we are friends with. we have watched her kids when she was in a pinch so she could go to her job. That is what friends do. Mandated charity is not charity. and as I said in my earlier post. a kid could earn $75 bucks. This wasn't a surprise fee. it was known.
