You should have received two BOW/MZ tags. One either sex and one anterless only tag. You should also have a regular season tag Anterlered only. The regular tag is also good on the Island. If you put in for doe permits did you choose zone 1C? If not you not get a DMP. If you did not put in for a DMP then you may be able to apply for them. Check with your licensing dealer.

I really don't see how it would make a differance. I hunt opening week end and the weekends after that as well. The rest of rifle season is not as active after the first 2 days. Went back up the week end following opening day and the deer were all out in the fields with no pressure at all. So why break up the season? Unless the intent is to get more hunters into the woods like it is a second opening day.

NO! You shortened the rifle season. Why? Why not leave the rifle season as is and run a Muzzle Loarder / Archery season to the 31st.

If you can't go up, go down. Dig a pit and brush around it giving yourself some shooting lanes.

The question is "are you meat hunters or trophy hunters?" If you kill one doe you still have the fawns that will breed. A fawn born early in the spring can come into esterus in the winter rut. Give the spike a pass this year. Bucks will roam long distances during the rut to find does in season. So no worries about the does getting bred if you take the buck. You may want to limit your take according to the population you have seen on your property.

There are many water proof Goretex Boonie hats on the market. Check out the Sportsmans guide, Cabelas or any big hunting chain. As for the quiver, you need one with good grips. I use a Treelimb quiver and never had an arrow fal out.

New Yorks Latest Crossbow Legislation News

There is only one way to find out how the hunters of this state feel about crossbows. Have the DEC put out a servey questionare when you purchase your 2012-13 license. Each hunter would be asked a few questions that would be asked and their answers would be entered into the computer at the time of purchase. -
I have to echo what has been said already. The 7mm-08 is a great deer rifle cartridge.

I love being out in the fall woods. The smells and sounds excite me. The expectation of seeing a deer fills me with nervous anticipation. Taking a deer is a heart pounding thrill with out compare. I enjoy sharing my sucess and failures with my family and friends and hearing of theirs. I enjoy the serenity of just sitting in the tree stand. It is the simple enjoyment of life that keeps me coming back.

I was in the Navy attending Gunersmate "A" school and a friend always called me Philly. The GM rate was split into two groups, guns GMG and missles GMM. I knew a lot about small arms and really wanted to work on one of the big gun systems that were on the ships and be a GMG. So one day my friend Peter calls me from across the school house and he shouts out "Philly!" "Philly Gunns!" Draging out the "N" sound. I kept that handle with me ever since.

If you need to take the bow class you will receive a certificate at the conclusion of the class. Present that to the licencing agent when purchasing your licence.

Deerpassion I'll make it easy for you if you are going to hunt everything jus get a sportsman or supersportsman licence. You will only need to add the DMP for $10 and Turkey tags $10. The super sportsman comes with the Turkey tags. You will need to choose your WMU for the DMP and you get 2 choices, a first selection and a secondary. You may apply for the same zone if the availability is high or you may choose 2 zones. Depending on the zones chosen you could get 2 DMP's, one or none. For any other questions you can check www.dec.ny.gov.

You are correct about NYS honoring other states courses and licences. If you have possessed a bow hunting licence in Florida you may be able to just purchase one without taking the course. Most of our gun stores and sporting goods stores sell hunting licences. Take you Florida course certificate and or most recent licence to a licencing agent an inquire with them.
