  1. He's an odd duck. It looks like his main beam grows off of his brow instead of his brow being part of his main beam.
  2. Ever seen a buck like this one? He reminds me of those antlers you can buy around christmas time that you put on yours or yoru pets head (like the ones the Grinch puts on his dog)...lol.
  3. beauty. Too bad his right side sucks or he would be a fricken Giant.
  4. I agree with what everyone has said. i let mine sit for 3-4 weeks just due to scent in the area. last year I was too eager and checked them weekly and each time I checked them I had fewer and fewer pics. Also, yeah, what are you using that you change your batteries that much? I have the new Bushnell cameras and they are awesome. I have the same batteries in it from last year and they are still full!! Cant believe how long they last.
  5. lol...nah, bigger than 148". I just rough scored him based on a few pictures I have and it came to about 155". He shoudl be pushing 160" ish once he is out of velvet.
  6. Nice 155" + 11 point (taken on July 19th so he still has some growing to do). This is the biggest one I have on my cameras so far this year (nothing compared to "super wide" from last year). Enjoy.
  7. I agree with tryign to control young deer being shot, but is an anter restriction the only way? To me, it is not about the points, but the maturity of the buck. Go ahead and shoot a 6 year old deer that is only a 5 point!! Why let it live? And then to shoot the 8 point that is 1.5 or 2.5 years that has TONS of potential? Seems ass backwards to me. The "brown and down" people that are out there suck! (and I have some in my family too so i'm not pointing fingers). If you could educate people on what deer to shoot, you wouldn't need antler restrictions. if you just want meat, shoot a doe, God knows there are WAY too many of them around since nobody controls them!! Here is a helpful hint for some of you: if it takes you several minutes with your binoculars to decipher if it is a deer or the neigbhors dog running around, don't shoot it! Ok....off my soap box.
  8. I'm 2 weeks late in getting mine out. I had my cameras set by 4th of July last year. where is this summer going!!!
  9. Of course deer move when its windy. They live in the woods. they have to go somewhere! lol. I wasn't implying that the deer build shelters and buck up for the night. HOWEVER, deer do not like wind. It makes them spooky. they either can't smell very well if it blowing too hard or they can smelll you even better if it swirling around. It is the toughest of the weather conditioins to hunt and be succesful. If I had to pick a day to sleep in, it would be a windy one. I am one of the idiots in his stand on the windy day becuase I want never want to miss an opportunity though. All im saying on that.
  10. ha ha...screamon deamon, you played right into her evil game. They all say that up front to rope us in. Then, slowly over time so you don't notice, things will change. One day you will wake up ands say WTF...what happened! lmao
  11. I am not positive, but I think you can "bait" or feed animals but there is a timeline. IE: you have to remove any food 30 days prior to the season starting.
  12. I agree 100000%. I use my Muzzlodader during our regular rifle / shotgun season in WNY. I have a TC Omega. I absolutely love my muzzleloader. I hunt mule deer in Utah every other year with it also and you can not have any optics with magnification. I purchased a Bushnell Holosight (made by Eotech, the company that puts the same sight on the military's M16's). Although it is not a "scope" with magnification, it is a lethal sight on my muzzleloader and i even use it here in NY where you can have a scope.
  13. unless you are in a different zone than me, our muzzleoader season ends December 20th. I hunt this hunt every year and I just confirmed the dates a few days ago.
  14. yeah, but I don't mind driving a little while to get a quality product from a reputable shop. An hour drive is well worth good life-long service! thanks for the contact.
  15. I hate the question "are you done yet?" ohh...are we talking about hunting still? nevermind.
  16. I would say with 100% certainty they came out of a butt.
  17. In a tree stand. Where do you hunt?
  18. haha at the comment "unless my neighbor sucks at it." Thanks for the laugh. The deer definitely fight and rattling definitely works at least a little bit. As TreeGuy said, the big guys are aprehensive, but it is fun watchign the youngin's come running in. The biggest deer I have shot to date in Chautauqua county was a product of some rattling. He didn't come charging in like you see on TV in Texas, but he was curious enough to stroll over and look around.
  19. Wow, thanks everyone. That is a lot of good information. I definitely plan on finishing the season with my current bow and will be shopping before next season rolls around. I will just go hit the shops and play with the bows. I just wasn't sure if the brand really mattered or not and it, for the most part, seems like it doesn't. I was leaning towards a Matthews bow, but will try them all. Thanks again!
  20. I agree BigGameFish.....I want P&Y cause I don't want him making it to the shotgun season!
  21. Thats probably what I will end up doing, thanks. Was curious what other people used. WNYBuckHunter, i assume by your name you are from WNY. What bow shops do you use? There doesnt' seem to be very good choices around here. I have used Doc's On Niagara Falls Blvd in Tonawanda (if you know the area, WNY is obvioulsy a big space) but they have not ever treated me very well.
  22. I just started bow hunting 3 years ago and have an old bow. I am looking into purchasing a new one. What is everyones opinion of the bows you use? I hear a lot about Matthews, but just cuz they advertise a lot doesnt' mean it is the best bow available. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
  23. One can only hope. I have a nice chalk outline already laid out next to my tree stand. He just needs to fall in it.
