  1. Let's not use that term "first light" too loosely. lol Legal shooting time or when you can see a butt crack at 30 yards?
  2. Nice deer to pick from, send me the leftovers.......
  3. Interesting for sure. Sorry about that.
  4. Have your Mom cook you something you love. That is always the best and you will remember it. Happy Birthday Joe.
  5. Looks like the deer is close but horrible quality. try again.....
  6. I have real big areas of standing pine. The forest is rich in resources right now, I guess they should be fine. Every 7 years NYSEG comes and spays the ROW on my property. This happened this year and it killed so many berry bushes. Not to say there insn't any left but the critters need all they can get.
  7. I'm jealous! Love the lists but my opener is still way off. Have to wait until the 18th I have about 7-9 years before I join the ranks of living where I hunt. Good luck!!!
  8. The deer are learning to be unpredictable........that will be enough to drive us crazy!!!
  9. My best deer are from the 2nd of November on. May just have to take that week then. Thanks to both of you!
  10. My camp is 6 hours away from home. Now most of the time we have a couple of people going so we split the driving. I have always spent two long weekends at camp one in late October (3 days) and one in early November(4 days). With the longer bow season last year I was up for a bonus weekend at the beginning. My thought is for future seasons, to maybe hunt that first weekend and take a full week off early November and forget about the late October weekend. What do you guys think?
  11. Warmer temps above 45 degrees will keep the deer movement to a minimal. Early morning late evening best bet. There is still so much food available for them in the woods they really don't have to move until darkness and cooler temps. I feel if you can find an area in the woods with a lot of acorns or apples it might be a good place to set up. looks like Sunday of next week will have the temps cooling off.
  12. Just picked up my kids at the x's house. Her boyfriend told me one of his workers was testing out a new stand in the backyard. (This is on Long Island) He wasn't strapped in and fell 20 feet. Broke his back and shoulder. Be careful guys!
  13. Schuyler county off of rt 79 near Watkins Glen. There is government property that holds big deer, pretty big track of land you could get lost. Try that.
  14. Crows......When Sandy hit last year all you heard day in and day out were generators. I got up to camp and thought opening morning would be so peaceful and quite in the woods, nope! The camp down the road didn't turn off their generator until early afternoon, thought I was going to be sick.....lol
