  1. THAT's a HOG! I'm your newest buddy ... right?
  2. I went fishing on Black Lake (in the Adirondacks... near Alex Bay?) once and I SWEAR I saw a gar fish! Is that possible? It's the only one I've ever seen and he was swimming near our boat. It was probably 3' long and it had a long skinny snout. I know it wasn't a pike - I've caught them before... this was shaped like a pike but the head on it was long and real skinny. I couldn't get it to strike/bite my Rapala lure. Have any members ever seen a gar fish in Black Lake or heard of 'em being there or caught?
  3. Hammered them - yes! What a day we had. 5 guys / 23 hooked / 13 boated. Largest caught was 32#'s... lost one that would probably go around 40 (so the Captain told me) I got it to 38' from the boat only to have him say, "Good-bye!" What a fight - 28 minutes of fun, fun, fun. All fish caught were Kings - except 1 Coho and 1 Steelhead. We were fishing about 2 - 3 miles out of Irondiquoit (sp?) in about 120' of water. Most of the fish were hooked in 50' to 80' feet of water. The majority of them were caught on rods hooked to downriggers and a little 4" round disc. The Captain kept refering to a lure called "Dirty White Boy". All were caught on silver hammered-backed spoons. The water was TOO CALM! The temp was about 87* and I kept putting on my Equate 50SPF Sport Sunscreen every half-hour. I also had that wide-brimmed hat (as suggested by my Dermetologist the day before... ). I'm sure glad I did... that sun was brutal - the Amish guys didn't use sunscreen and on Saturday they were beet red and sore! Hope that helps guys! If you ever want to go out on a charter - hook up with Sam... he's awesome! www.dreamcatchercharters.com
  4. My grampa and great-uncle use to kill fawns every year while cutting fields. It seems that when 'mother' says "stay here and lie still", that is exactly what they do... even to death.
  5. I gotta' check that out when I go visit my cousin up there!
  6. Took some Amish guys up to Rod-cha-cha Thursday. Boy did we have a BALL!
  7. His peripheral vision is probably outstanding!

  9. That is one ugly... oh wait
  10. My old boss had a Forrester - absolutely loved it! Yes the AWD takes a little more fuel, but the benefits of AWD outway that (in MHO anyway). Yes Culver... best of luck with it. Drive carefully - hehe.
  11. My nephew does that too! He and I have shot HUNDREDS of arrows into those blocks... they hold up okay, and like Fantail says, after awhile you just pop in a new one. They give those foam blocks away all the time.
  12. I look to see where a person might be from... always looking for a new hunting spot or a friend to share hunting areas with. psssst: really haven't found anyone though. Dan... your posts remind me of the movie, "The Outlaw Josey Wales".
  13. And it looks like... ??? Come on Man - show is some photos... please?
  14. I'm so close to using my pickup like this.
  15. Too funny Wooly... but I know what you mean. I never thought anything would become parasitic to a cold-blooded creature.
  16. Oh... thanks Paula. I've attached the photo here. Seems they just sucked the life out of this snake.
  17. Lived in NH - military, job and consulting and absolutely loved it... but upstate NY is where I was born and is home.
  18. Check this post out from the Bowhunting.com forum: http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?35007-For-those-wondeiring-how-bad-the-ticks-are-this-year&p=476092#post476092 I've been visiting my hunting areas and scouting (I don't have any trail camers) around. I haven't seen any ticks on me or my clothing - yet. Guess I better get some of that stuff they mention to help me continue to not see any.
  19. They at least need a visit from the Sheriff... if for no other reason than to educate!
  20. We really do live in a beautiful area (Upstate NY)... Great photos!
  21. Dang... I never knew there were so many different frogs around here.
  22. Saw a set of triplets today near Addison. Been a few years since I've seen that.
  23. I didn't notice when she could have been 'busted' in the nose . I was too busy looking at her other attributes!
  24. Just reading this thread Eddie... WOW - 50 years! Awesome... congratulations to you both on an outstanding milestone. I remember those wide whitewall tires... and the lighted Chief Pontiac on the front of the hood. We have 7 more to go to catch up with you and your wife. Where did you get married at?
  25. So... that makes him a 'barrel' frog? Perhaps he was a little thirsty or wanted to go swimming. I've never seen a frog that looks like that one - pretty neat.
