Quiver and sight suggestion for new bow
MuzzyLoader replied to HuntOrBeHunted's topic in Bow Hunting
Hello HoBH and welcome to the Forum(s), My suggestion would be to get a detachable quiver. I take mine off when I'm on stand and find I have better control over the bow. My sight suggestion would be to get one that has the fiber optic threads FULLY protected. Since I went to this style of sight, I have never had to change a broken fiber thread. That's my 2 cents... -
Oh let's stir it up... we would if more AR's were implemented.

I think I'll find me an old deer hide and put it over my back and crawl around the woods this year. What could happen? hehehe It takes all kinds... and they're all here folks!

Hello Bill... welcome to the site! Diamond bows are excellent... but here's some food for thought. Big Box Stores are going to push bows they have on hand and in stock - period! A pro shop will have you shoot and try out different makes/models/etc... and a really GOOD pro shop owner will tell you to go try out some more. Try out as many as possible before you purchase one.

They ALL look good! Nice job(s)!

Not yet Paula... but the reports I read said to expect everything early.

I've read where 'old goats' can actually loose mass and have their racks go downhill. Guess this guy is really old... or could it be the dry weather not having enough nutrients to enrich his growing antlers?
-
x2 I was taught to draw while always pointing at the target... that way if you accidently release you'll be close to where you were aiming.
-
And it looks like.... WHAT so far?
-
I got invited to go up there this year and archery hunt. The landowner says that the field out back has a minimum of 20 deer in it each evening. Looking forward to hunting a new spot.

WOW... what a ride! That dude was blown about 7' into the air. Notice the size of those beer (?) bottles. hehe -
Nice grouping there young man! You better not shoot your broadheads at the same spot or you'll be refletching arrows over and over again. Good Luck this year!!!

STOP posting photos... there are NO big bucks in Steuben County (everybody knows that!). Especially over bait sights!

WOW... the amount of information on this thread is overwhelming! I've been out shooting... I've found my arm WAS more comfortable when it was rolled in verses rolled out. I also noticed my cables are VERY CLOSE to my arm (I'm shooting a Bowtech Equalizer). I don't get hit very often, but when I do... WOW! I've also noticed that my draw length is set correct (26.5")... according to the calculations noted above. When I tried to roll my arm out away from the bow the cams started to slam forward (hard). It was difficult for me to hold the string - the bow wanted to 'shoot'... right now! My anchor point is comfortable where it is now. I have a kisser button, the peep is secured with wrapping (so that hasn't moved), and my release is the same one I've been using for several years (albeit has stretched a bit over time). I absolutely enjoyed shooting this bow... but I feel like a fish out of water right now shooting it. I'm all out-of-wack (even though the arrows are hitting the target straight, penetrating deep, and actually hitting where I'm aiming). I think I'll go over to Barrett's and ask Don check me out. He's the largest Matthew's dealer in NYS, so I've been a whole lota' reluctant to go in asking for help carrying a Bowtech.

Jeremy Hurst answers them also... great bunch of guys!

Say Doc... How about showing me that spot come October 1st?
-
Okay... so why am I hitting my forearm with a 7" brace height? Isn't it because my draw is too long?
-
Okay... so I've been bowhunting for some time now and have shot longbow, recurve and compound. My draw with a longbow and the recurve was 28". Now that I'm getting older it seems my draw length has shortened. I need a 27" (so I'm told). So, with that in mind... Should my compound cam be 26" and my 'loop' be 1" so I actually draw 27" total? Would it be smarter to have the cam set at 27" and have no 'loop'? I know w/o the loop I'd get a couple more fps out of the bow (but to me speed ain't everything). I also heard that sometimes you can't draw directly from the string because you might get something called an arrow pinch(?). What are your thoughts, comments, etc...

I've carried a pocket knife since I was about 15 years old. Had and lost many over the years. Currently I'm carrying a Smith & Wesson First Edition folder. It has an ~2-1/4" clip-point and a 2-1/4" razor blade. It holds a mean edge! I was at a tool show and this guy was selling knife shapeners and asking people to give him their knife and he'd show them it couldn't cut paper. Well I gave him mine... he cut the paper without any hesitation and then just handed it back to me - quickly. (It was too sharp for his liking... I told him. "If you think this is sharp, you should to see my hunting knife!").
-
If doe hunting only.... I'd be there! If buck hunting only... I'd be there! I enjoy both - hunting & venison... which is why I hunt. I also like to be in the woods to just enjoy the smells, the sounds, and the feeling of being closer to our great Creator. So... just sell me the license - I'm hunting whatever is legal
