  1. I know you would think a general code of ethics would apply. Hey I'm originally from hicksville.
  2. great day i wantd to get an out of state and hunt ct this year public land. never got to it.
  3. looks like some sort of tornado cam thru that area trees snaped off at 6' in all diffrent directions. maybe the other night during that heavy wind.
  4. Etiquette my ass, obviously if your there ill keep moving. But just bc you are breaking rules and built a stand i dont care how long you have hunted there or where you live, it's public land im hunting deer sign I found in my climber as supposed to. So if I'm there I hope you carried in a climber just in case.
  5. well thats the thing I know there are Aholes in every walk of life but the up side is it is public land and i did find awesome sign fresh rubs etc while looking for camera
  6. Well I went to check and move my trail cam on public land this a.m.. And I learned the public land lesson when I learned that my trail cam and battery pack had been stolen. Now I have seen many trail cams while scouting/hunting and have left them alone havent even looked at pics on them. I guess all people dont have the same moral values and ethics. The cameras aren a very remote section of public land on LI near a few homemade wooden stands. Which arent allowed on pubic land. Now I thought about destroying the stands being that I think I am intruding in someones "private" sanctuary. Because they are in some deep cover that not alot of people would venture into. So during the season I WILL be hunting that spot and if you would like to own up to stealing them we can handle it then. I seriously doubt that a member of this site is that type of person.

  10. Yes but 0530 is a bad pic time hopefully I found his core which I think I did and all it takes during the season is 1 more hour eating or a distractions and he's coming home at 0630 that's when it game time ahead of his trail there is def his home area.
  11. Awesome buck the thing I hate and its a jinx on me too is the big buck pics in Sept never show in Oct.
  12. Bears are deceiving I don't want to say but I have a few pics of big bear but compared to that deer pic prob not huge 200-250. Good bear though. I'd shoot it I have a 250 half mounted. Came out real nice.

    Acorns

Anyone notice not alot of acorns on trees this summer? I have found a few white oak stands and not noticed any acorns on the floor or in the tree.
  16. I checked my cam and re put out Sun. a.m. since it had a low battery when I put it out on Fri. When I left the woods I lint rolled about 100 of those dead little off of me plus found a few live ones maybe not on lng enough to die. But after looking at pics on internet they a larvae ticks, nymph is the next stage. Larvae do not contain lyme, where as nymphs poppy seed size usually do. Larvae have not had a host yet and nymph have usually a rodent and nymph will usually contain lymes. the coulstons seems to work good.
  17. The syrup and offer money/church charity in the same sentence sound like a good idea. Just curios how did you find permission?
  18. Put the camera out yesterday and did a short scouting trip. I like to use GPS to mark sign, trails, and walking paths,etc... Then download the info to google earth. It's a good way to really get a feel for the land from a birds eye veiw and know where you actually are when you are hunting. I also layer it with a topo. So I got some of that done. Also I kicked up a few deer near where I put the cam so hopefully I have a few bucks when I check it. I also might have gotten over my fear of ticks. I set up a full clothing set with Coulston's Durawhatever and periodically checked myself, twice I had to flick pretty large ticks off my jeans not sure if they would have died had I left them alone. But when I got home I examined my white longsleeve and found about 15 of the same little guys I had on me two Sept. ago in Rocky Point. I was told then they were "newly hatched" ticks "nymphs" I think, and that I must have walked thru a nest because I had about 350 on me (with no spray and shorts and sneakers) unprepared. This time though do to the spray they were all dead. I still bagged my clothes in the garage only to be worn for scouting just in case. Here is my question I have never seen a CHIGGER is there any chance that these are CHIGGERS and not ticks. I know It is a tough pic but they kind of look like ticks and have long wisker type antanea on the front.
