I think the loud shitty weather rain, wind, etc... makes them gather in the open feilds to use many eyes as a defense since their normal senses are impaired in the woods from the swirling winds and loud forest.

I think it will def. be atleast the very end of Oct. at the earliest before you start seeing them really hounding the does in the SZ. I've never seen it before the 1st week in Nov..

i dont use alot of scent and def wont use any this weekend i wait for the full blown seek and chase

i drove and hour at night and basically camped out for a few then planned to hunt sun up 5 or 6 years ago got in my climber and no f--ing release! that was bad i def would have rolled the dice with the back tag and license i am lifetime guy so i would hope they would have some slack but you might have to wait and fight the ticket.

i like it bc once those guys start running youll see them and others during the day and a trail they use at night only, in the early fall is a better bet to be one theyll use during the day late fall then one they never walk on. more so if its one from a bed to a doe feeding area.

i had a problem with two dogs afew years back but i knew the guy and i told him the options i would sit all morn and just at sunrise hed let them out and theyd run circles thru the woods off his property he stopped but if he didnt i was very close to wacking them. hes lucky bc i know a few old timers that would have done it the first time they saw them

what county are you located? and what do you get for a yote?

Nice long coat looks like a smaller bear though. Good Luck this season I have atleast 5 diffrent bears pics on my cam all summer and early fall doesnt suck heading in their during bow in the dark I walk a long way. Do you carry the pepper spray for bears?

I'm going to go out on a limb and try this question out. Does anyone belong to, or is their any hunting clubs on LI that own priate deer hunting property? Or does anyone know of any private property such as farmers etc... That are looking for someone to help out around in exchange for some hunting access?

how about scent i am very carefull with my hunting gear and i never need spray where i go upstate so i was always concern about contaminating my gear.

i try to sit all day expescially now my trail cam has deer movement at noon a nice large ten pt. at 1230 the other day. i also shot a bear last year at 1130 opening day of bow and i only noticed him went i stood up to leave he was coming down the hill straight at my stand didnt want a bear but still wasnt getting down with him their when he passed perfectly broadside couldnt resist. i shot a 7 pt the opening day of bow the year before at noonish so they move during the day early or late season can get a deer from the rack!

I would love to get out im a city fireman so i can hunt all day on weekdays when pressure is probaly down but my one experience with LI is that i scouted rocky point in early sept and left there with what had to be 300 ticks on me none bit me but i had to use a lint roller to get them off and shower like crazy later found out they were "larva?" left a real sour taste what do you guys use for tick prevention i would love to get out this last 2 weeks is the hardest part of the wait.

I actually hunt 3k but the very border area and I have to say that over the last 5 years the antler sized have a considerable improvement and bear numbers have grown also. Even with the illegal spotlight shooting a state trooper told me about. I had gotten pulled over driving at night with a spotlight but when he saw I had a car full of kids and I told him we were just looking at deer for fun he explained that they have a big road hunting problem. he came out of nowhere as if he was waiting for something like that so it must be a problem.

I shot a bear last year too that I also missed at 10 yards never have I missed before I have to stop misjudging and using my 20 yard pin. Those close shots seem to be the toughest!

having a hard time with this pic this is my 8 from last year. missed at ten yards with the bow the doe he was trailing ran about 20 yards and stopped so did he i connected with the second arrow at thirty yards.

Well I'll probably get slammed for this but I don't think baiting or supplement feeding in the off season should be illegal. Or at least the second def. shouldn't be. I think it is purely a revenue for the d.e.c. the thought that it will cut down on disease spread is rediculous I have trail camera pics of does licking each other mouths. I don't personally bait but many states do allow it and for a weekend hunter who lives far away from his hunting area and doesn't have time to make a food plot it is a good way to make the most out of his short hunting time. I think if it were to be legalized there is not alot of guys who wouldn't.

that was up by us actually the three days following when he shot this deer our triail cam had a huge 8 and a huge bear under his stand but we had been hunting alot and decided the night he got this to hang it up and head back to long island until rifle season
