    I use construction grade garbage bags ( those real thick ones) toss in a couple earth scent wafers and throw it in the basement. Works like a charm.

    Yeah.. I tried again today but could not find it. I'll keep looking. I'm just stuck on the fact that if a person is caught in possession, using or selling narcotics (crack, coke, heroine or a lot of prescription drugs) he/she would lose that firearm anyway. Eeeaaarrrllly ...sup?

    Greybeard.. I have to admit that I have not read the law either. But if the police, ATF who ever,, already take the guns of proven drug dealers/users why is this expanded law needed. Can you post a link to a sight that shows the new law? I can't find it. But I'm a computer idiot.

    I got out for the first time today. Trimmed some stands and the neighbor brush hogged a few spots. Lots of sign. Surprised to see a lot of apples. The corn is still up in one field too. i'm heading back out Mon. to hang another stand and scout a little more.

    If a person is caught in possession of illegal drugs and that person has a fire arm, either on him or in his house in his car what ever,that weapon would be seized anyway, whether the person possesses the arm legally or not. Trust me on that!! That article said that the law expands ATF powers to allow them to take guns, from citizens with out due process. If that is correct than an ATF agent can simply say I THINK you're a drug dealer. Im taking your gun. Big difference

    I have never even heard of the ruger compact.. But i'm not much of a gun guy, although I have been deer hunting for over 30 years. (just used what worked and never bothered with the "whys") If that short mag is too much, and it sounds like it is, why not save some money and just get a scoped 30-30? It's plenty for the max range you mentioned and wont break the bank. Just my 2 cents.

    I have to agree ..... I want Texas on my side. Im no Obama fan but I listened to this guys' interview and he sounds nuttier than rat crap on a peanut farm.

    I've always had mixed thoughts on this one. During bow I'm a little more paranoid so I use a bottle. Gun season I do the 20 foot waterfall. But.. one of the best deer I ever took ( with a shot gun) was about 15 mins. after I hydrofraced half the bark off the side of the tree I was standing against. The buck walked straight at me with the wind blowing right at him. He got to about 40 yards and never spooked. So who knows?? I hear about guys wizzing in scrapes all the time.

    When I was a little kid, 6 or 7, I remember we had a nest of bees between the ground and a stone wall that was in our yard. I decided to kill them by pouring a small bucket of water down their hole, after my squirt gun proved to be useless on them. Long story short I ended up running into the side door of our house, covered in bees and screaming. I don't know what hurt worse, the bee stings or the welts all over my back, neck, head and shoulders from my mother beating the bees off of me with her shoe! The good old days.

    Yeah.. I use those, full size, folding nylon chairs with a back. They work well & they even have cup holders! I use to have one that was camo and had a cushioned seat and back. I'm pretty sure I left it in the woods or dropped it of the ATV around 5 years ago and never saw it again. I haven't seen one like it since. I think the wife got it a Wally world

    Thats a good point. You should check and see if not going back to the dealer for the first 100 mi. check up voids the warranty. I think Harley Davidson has a clause like that.

    I switched to a 7mm-08 last year ( Ruger M-77 lefty) and I love it. I took a buck with it at about 80 yards or so, and he pretty much folded right up. It's real accurate, with plain Remington factory 140 grainers, and has a light recoil . If you can get it at a good price grab it. Im sure you'll be happy with it.

    It's their whole arrogant attitude that gets me. They have to talk down to the little people and tell them how to live. A person who thinks he or she is way smarter than they are can be dangerous, especially if that person is in charge. Just look around.

    Sogaard.. Stop...If you try and say that his stance on this is not left wing and traditionally democratic, then you are just grasping. Who cares what he ran as?? His "I know better than you" attitude is way to the left. you can't deny it.

    I'm pretty sure that the 7.62x39 is close to the ballistics of the 30-30. So with hunting type bullets you should be set. I have never heard that the Mini 30 is unreliable ....so good luck!! I would use it, under your conditions.
