I have dressed out a lot of deer. Most with an old Buck 110 that I have had since I was a kid. And a good amount with an older Camillus lock back, that I use when I bow hunt and muzzle load. I don't know what model the Camillus is but its a bit smaller and slimmer than the Buck 110. My sister gave me the Buck 110 for my 15th birthday and my younger brother gave me the Camilllus for my 30th. I love them both. The knifes I mean…..LOL! I have never needed a saw to do a basic gut job. But one guy I hunt with, likes to cut the pelvis. He has a lock back that has a regular blade and a saw blade. I have no idea what brand of knife it is, but it works for him.

I just use the old school Char-Broil basic wood smoker. The only drawback is you really have to monitor the temp. You just can't leave it for more than maybe 45 min to an hour. It works well though.

I have had great luck with Lacrosse and Wolverine. I have a pair of Lacrosse non insulated, that I wear early bow season and for scouting, they must be 20 years old at least. They are finally showing some cracks but not leaking yet. I have a pair of Wolverines that are about 15 yrs old. The cloth camo outer layer is ripped up but they are still solid. Browning's suck, IMHO… Had a pair, that weren't cheap, and lasted me maybe three seasons.

I think I read or heard somewhere that the super mag was designed to work best with 3 1/2" or at least 3" shells. Run some 2 3/4" slugs through the bird barrel first to make sure they cycle good, before you fork over the cash for a cantilever barrel.

My hunting buddy always had Beagles.. 4 or 5 different ones over the last 25 years. They were all great on rabbits but hard to call off. Once they hit a scent, forget it. I remember, on two separate occasions, going back the next morning to find them, because the day before they got on a scent and just never came back. Maybe it was the way he trained them…Im not sure.

I would say the 220. My brother in law and his father hunt with them. They get crazy groups( for a shotgun) at 200yds with Hornady SST's. My brother in law showed me one of his 200 yd targets (off of a rest) and it was about 3"….maybe. I have heard that the Super Mag has had feeding and ejection problems.
