  1. I will be down the road off Waywayanda Court.
  2. I intend to be up there this upcoming Sunday to do some Turkey hunting with my youngest nephew.
  3. One must consider modern land utilization within the state these days and how it affects deer populations. For the most part, public land that is available to hunt deer is in short supply compared to the amount of private land. Much privately owned land cannot be hunted or for that matter hunted effectively enough to manage deer populations. Suburban sprawl has enabled deer to find a nice niche where their reproduction rates are uncontrollable. It is true, that there are more deer today than ever before. One of these days nature will respond in the most unkind manner.
  4. Forget the Yankees, the Bills are the story these days. Just ask Fasteddie.
  5. I would most certainly agree with you Steve. The DEC wants deer killed period. If the hunting community exceeds their expectations they will be ecstatic. On the other hand if fewer deer are killed and DEC expectations are not met_________________? One can easily fill in the blank.
  6. I have planted acorns in plastic dixie cups filled with good soil. They do very well and the clear plastic gives you the advantage of seeing how well the root ball is progressing and conversely when to either re -pot the seedlings or plant them in the ground.
  7. You do realize that the term 'wingnut' that you used, refers to right-wing Republicans? Most Republicans are in favor of hunting. Your definition of "wing nut" does not necessarily refer to right wing Republicans. The term "wing nut" is a derogatory term for any person who holds extreme political views.Consider it a proper description for a Liberal Democrat.
  8. This may be a bit premature considering bow hunting topics have taken up much of the posts lately, but are we gun hunters ready?
  9. From what I remember he said he said after he shot it the first time it went down in a pile, got up, he shot it again, knocked it down, again, it got up, shot it a third time and it just took off. We looked all night for the deer finally finding it. It should be noted that the guy was a marine and a dead shot! The darn deer did not want to die.
  10. A friend of mine once shot a deer three times with a 30:06 and the bugger would not die. Thankfully, after 8 or more hours we were finally able to recover it after a an extremely long track.Upon recovery it appeared that the first entry wound should have been enough to kill the deer but for whatever reason the deer had other plans.
  11. Usually, the pollsters call you at home. In some case a booth is set up at at shopping mall. How about those Bills, almost!
  12. I will tell you this, at a camp I used to hunt on (private property) in West Fulton, NY we had all our stands stolen, the house broken into and the oil tank siphoned of fuel!
  13. Doc, I know where you are coming from regarding this issue, point taken and keep the John Wayne quotes coming!
  14. I remember you from Empire, glad to see that you found this site.
  15. Google Youtube Videos concerning deer poaching and you will see firsthand the stupidity of people!
  16. I hope that all of us intend to vote this Tuesday despite what the polls say; for it is our civic duty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I would bet that Anne Causy is not on the top of HSUS' required reading list.
  18. Doc, Are you quoting John Wayne?
  19. The bear appears to be patiently waiting for the waitress to give him a menu.
  20. I stop by the SCWA parking lot once or twice a week on my home from work to see what deer are feeding in that area. I have seen mostly does and small bucks. I would imagine that some really good bucks live in Connetquot Park. Too bad we cannot hunt them.
  21. Oh please, you are passing judgement upon others for filling tags. If thats what you are going to do, then dont sit there and get defensive when someone calls you on it. There is no shortage of deer in my area, so Im not worried about filling my tags. See, you sit here and make assumptions on people and its just making you look foolish. Im far from being a "brown its down" kind of guy. BTW, why are you bringing AR into a venison donation thread? It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Just more patting yourself on the back. : Wheres that worlds greatest hunter thread? You would probably feel right at home in there. I agree, put him at the top of the "worlds greatest hunter list".
  22. The DEC tags isssued to a purchaser of a big game license are specific as to what deer one may legally kill. I see no problem with that!
