  1. It should be good! But as a lifelong Jets fan, I still cannot lose that sense of foreboding.
  2. Lets wait to see what the license sales were this year. in any event, the DEC will invent some new machinations to pique hunter interests in the future.

How much snow fell up there?
  5. Pudding you say, I love pudding! Bread pudding, chocolate pudding, butterscotch pudding,Pudding Street, grandmas pudding......... Lets have a pudding thread!!!!!! :-*
  6. Like Fast Eddie, I tried the Hansel and Gretal method of locating my stand site. It did not work!
  7. The Hill is too quiet. I did not see a deer today or on Thanksgiving morning. There is very little hunting pressure.Hopefully, things will return to normal for the ML season.
  8. My friends camp in 4H has killed 4 does to date.

Eddie, they do profile people and to even the score they also search other people who do not fit the mold. I have passed through the gate into the waiting area several times only to be pulled out of the boarding line and subjected to a random search along with several others who fit the profile. When flying these days, you have to be prepared to be searched at any time! Before entering the gate to the waiting room I already have my pockets emptied and the contents stored in a clear zip-lock bag. Everything is ready and goes in the bin for x ray. I wear loafers, place my jacket in my carry on, have all my ID ready with my boarding pass. Scan or search, whatever is faster. Its not a big deal!
  10. We have to be out of the woods by noon and be at the relatives by 4pm for dinner. You never know, we may be eating leftovers. Got my blanket ready for the "dog house" just in case!

I fly a lot, and the inconvenience is a necessary evil and if you want to fly these days, get accustomed to it.It seems to be working for there are no hijackings or planes blowing up these days. How many here would would get on a plane these days if these methods were not employed and you were flying with passengers wearing Burkas, or who appear to be suspicious looking?
  12. Congratulations, thats a big deer!
  13. Well, my lucky charm (nephew/godson) is down from Sienna College for the holiday and we are going hunting together tomorrow morning! :-* The boy is a natural deer attractant; and for each of the last two Thanksgivings, we each filled a tag early in the morning.
  14. Dr Wost and I were hunting the same side of woods separated by several hundred yards. What is troubling about this older gentleman dressed in full camouflage is that he shot twice on Sunday at several does that I had just immediately let pass (30 or so yards from my stand) and I had no idea that the hunter was in such close proximity to myself. It makes me sick to think that if perhaps I had elected to take a shot at the larger of the does and being certain that no one was in the line of fire, had I missed, the potential for tragedy was a distinct possibility!
  15. I will not hunt with anyone who drinks alcohol while hunting; its potentially a dangerous situation for all. Its bad enough that I have to suffer fellow employees who enjoy liquid lunches at work.
  16. My favorite quote is "you're disgusting". My reply is always; "thank you"!
  17. A 5% increase in hunter reports over last year is still woefully low!
  18. I heard a lot of shots after sundown (4:34pm) yesterday. The DEC presence was not like it usually was. Normally where I hunt on State Land (dead end road to State Land) the DEC blocks the exit and checks every hunters license etc. As I was only able to hunt the afternoon yesterday, there were few cars parked along the road. I was stunned for the place is usually crowded. I hunted this morning and saw only 3 cars parked along the road. Saw two does, allowed each to pass hoping a buck would follow them; no such luck and packed it in at noon. Heard several shots before sunrise. For the most part today, things were pretty quiet after 9am. Lots of squirrels, had several approach my stand to within arms length. Boy were they surprised when I moved.
  19. Way to go Ed. I let a doe and 2 fawns as well as a small spike pass. Cleanly missed a 6 pointer :'( I will say one thing though, the bleat can works! Got into the woods at 1:30, been sick as dog since Friday night. Montezuma's revenge has taken hold of me. Swigging the Pepto Bismol.
  20. I pass all the fawns, however if the opportunity presents itself............
  21. First mature deer that presents an opportunity to me is going to die from lead poisoning!
  22. I take along five slugs. Its more than enough to kill one deer.
  23. As I sit all day, I am unashamed to admit that I pig out. Popcorn, sandwiches, fruit, candy, soda, water, cookies, jerky, pudding etc ( and a roll of TP).
