  1. Last thing they'll be smelling is gun powder............................ ;D I like that quote about the gunpowder! :-* The pickled gizzards on the other hand must be an acquired taste, just like Doc's egg sandwiches.
  2. "DEC supports voluntary antler restriction programs. However, DEC does not see a critical biological need or compelling management advantage to mandate such restrictions" The quote was copied directly from the NYSDEC website.
  3. Every rifle, pistol or shotgun carried by small game hunters and Fall turkey hunters. No doubt about what you refer to. However, including a special firearms season for the handicapped during bowseason may well increase the possibilty of a tragedy. Do you know of any states which permit the handicapped to use a firearm during the early season?
  4. The DECALS system does have its flaws a times but nonetheles every hunter is required to report their kill. The system is an excellent tool for the DEC to manage the deer population within the State. Too bad that the majority of successful hunters are uncooperative. Such individuals are rendering a disservice to the entire huntng communty.
  5. I guess an automatic cocking device on a crossbow would be acceptable under the A.D.A. :-\
  6. This thread is not about including anything in bow season for all hunters. At least that is not the way that I read that bill in the original post. My comments are limited to only those individuals who need assistance to participate in hunting. My thoughts are that it would be the right thing to do, and that the actual number of individuals involved would be relatively insignificant and completely transparent to other hunters and bow season harvest results. There is also an assumption that a system could be devised and enforced to eliminate fraud (important caveat). My opposition to the inclusion of anything other than a bow in bow seasons for able-bodied hunters remains unchanged. Doc Doc, Your interpretation of the bill is correct. As far as enforcement to eliminate fraud is concerned, the State (DEC) being in such financial distress would be hard pressed to enforce the law as it is written considering the available resources. As far as your stance regarding the inclusion of crossbows in bow season, your position is clear and I respect it. However, these days I can attribute such a position as tantamount to Crockett at the Alamo. It is obvious that in the near future crossbows will be included in the regular bow season. As far as allowing handicapped individuals to hunt deer with firearms during bow season, that would be a mistake.
  7. You can find Rusty Duck products on Amazon.com and most everything else these days.
  8. Get over it, and deal with it. You are worse than a Liberal!
  9. Cuomo has only been in office for 8 days for Pete's sake. Perhaps, we should give him a chance before jumping to conclusions and throwing him under the bus!
  10. There are not too many things more depressing as leaving for work before sunrise and returning home after sundown!
  11. Giada, a beautiful woman with a delicious sounding name!
  12. The problem will not be Cuomo, it will always be the legislature led by Shellie Silver and his cronies.
  13. Sometimes I think that the DEC resorts to the ancient art of Divination to come up with their deer population statistics.
  14. PM me I am available next year!
  15. It must be hard to shoot carp through the ice!
  16. I fish a lot down here on Long Island, and the fishing for the most part sucks!
  17. Joe, The DEC has no clear estimate as to how many deer inhabit the state. FYI, google deer in Greenich CT where an INFRARED flyover was performed some time ago. It is eyeopening and was expensive!
  18. You guys crack me up. I never said the soil sucked and we can't grow in N.Y. There is different contents and amounts of minerals in the soil that help promote antler growth. In no way did I say the soil sucks, the soil on my farm produces over and over year after year. Lets think twice before twisting words, thanks. I never accused you of such. NY as whole has a diverse soil profile (by area)which includes mineral and nutrient content. Keep spreading the manure! :-*
  19. I have been hunting for over 35 years and elect to let the legal runts and dinks to walk for in years past I have taken my fill. But I do not begrudge anyone from killing any legal deer of their choice. Deer management in NY is at at crossroads and I hope that those in charge (based upon sound science and not political influence) make the correct decisions for the future of deer hunting within the state.
  20. I am a lot calmer now that my insurance company is willing to pay for the cost of replacing my roof that was blown off this past MondaY!
