  1. Well , that messes up the Head Cheese ! ??? ... ??? Like I said, you have too much time on your hands. In any event your reply is priceless!!!!!!!!!
  2. Plenty of meat, if you can shoot them in the head with a gun!
  3. Ed, you just have too much time on your hands, lucky you!
  4. I believe that Deer possess a long term memory. They can surelay recall the location of a particular hole in a fence and a food source. In addition, they remember where to cross roads where the deer crossing signs are located ;D
  5. By law your children are covered until age 26.
  6. I pay $1,600.00/month for a family plan!
  7. They probably are wary of the poison ivy.
  8. About 85 percent of people are allergic to the urushiol in poison ivy, according to the American Academy of Dermatology [ref]. Only a tiny amount of this chemical -- 1 billionth of a gram -- is enough to cause a rash in many people. Some people may boast that they've been exposed to poison ivy many times and have never gotten the rash, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're not allergic. Sometimes the allergy doesn't emerge until you've been exposed several times, and some people develop a rash after their very first exposure. It may take up to ten days for the rash to emerge the first time. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Do not shoot until you can see the white in their eyes or have a tape measure handy, oh well whatever comes first!
  10. Mahican - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Mahicans (also Mohicans) are an Eastern Algonquian Native American tribe, originally settling in the Hudson River Valley (around Albany, NY). ... History - In popular culture - Notable members - References Are you sure it was a Mahican?
  11. Over the years I have lost interest in hunting from tree stands and these days strictly employ ground blinds. I have numerous ground blind locations which I have improved each and every year which blend in perfectly with the surroundings and are only obvious to keen eyed hunters. The various blinds enable me to select a stand location to suit the wind conditions.
  12. There were many Democrats,Independents and Republicans in NYC, Long Island and Westchester who were on the fence prior to the primary. Be reminded that a large bloc of registered Republicans who voted supported Palladino over Levy! Palladino, by his own actions has lost a large portion of these early supporters. I am pissed off that Palladino has sh-t the bed and perhaps hurt other Republican candidates as well.
  13. Its raining sideways down here on Long Island! Hopefully the forecast is correct for the weekend, no rain but wind. Have the opportunity to hunt ML in the Northern Zone on private property but my wife would have a cow if I went now considering how much I have been bitching about the pain in my shoulder. Shooting a bow is still out of the question now.Two percocets would probably eliminate the pain but carrying a loaded firearm afield or trying to shoot a bow would be stupid and selfish on my part. Gotta go to Plan B, that is; when I think of one. Opening day for me is weeks away and it is killing me! Good luck to all and be safe!
  14. I used to use and enjoy hunting from tree stands all the time; lugged them in and out of State Land and on numerous occasions at the same time while dragging a deer. The experience was excruciating to say the least. Nowadays I prefer to be ground bound and to have the opportunity to make a quick an easy move to a prescouted location. These days I am well aware of my physical limitations, in good shape by running several times a week, however carrying gear, tree stand and dragging a deer at the same time is a risk that I am unwilling to take. That's just my opinion.
  15. Only kidding! Your prices are competitive. Hope to see you.
  16. I agree! Some of the guys there are not customer friendly. I believe they are former Edelman's (sp)employees. In any event, I too will no longer patronize them. I hope the owners are reading these posts! I have found that the guys over at Long Island Gun Traders opposite the Nassau Coliseum are great to deal with. I dropped my shotgun last year the day before the opening of gun season and suspected that the scope was out of alignment. They bore sighted my gun for free and felt that it was OK. They were right, the following morning I killed a buck at 75 yards just where I aimed.
  17. How about a discount for the members of this Forum. OOPS, Sorry "Had a Doc moment"!
  18. I mentioned some time ago my experience with screw in tree steps. I do not trust them and have the scar on my leg to prove it when one broke while I was climbing up into a hung stand(yikes).
  19. The author mentions that most falls from tree stands happened to hunters using hang on stands.
  20. For all you old farts out there, do not forget your "Depends".
  21. State Land in and around Summit in Schoharie County has a pretty good population of turkeys.
  22. Perhaps if she was a Republican, she would have my support!
  23. Is Pat Paulsen still alive? If so write him in. In all seriousness, Cuomo is the better choice for governor. What is most important though is that we all vote for our local Republican candidates vying for seats in the NY Legislature. A Republican majority can make a difference. I just hope that everyone backs up their opinion by casting a vote. By the way, Gillibrand(sic) has to go too!!!!!!!!!
  24. I always bring an extra pair of eyeglasses.
