  1. ok what does he need to shoot it? Everything I would assume. Is it 50 caliber? If so send me a pm and I will send him a shoot black powder safely book as well as some patches and balls. I love to help getting a young shooter going. And that is a T/C no doubt
  2. Glad it worked out. And of ocurse I care. It was a pet project and I like to know it was a good one. Wanna sell the old one? I casn modify it and make it work
  3. I beat it at camp a lot. It just stands up to it all. It hauls wood, deer, pulls equipment for food plots hauls tree stands goes through the mud and just loves it.
  4. it is not worth arguing over and to say your rifle was still loaded after legal hours to shoot a coyote so you can have it loaded to shoot a deer after legal hours is attempting to beat the system. If you gave the line to a dec officer here, he would follow you the rest of the season until he caught you. Then he would be a jerk and should go catch the real criminals, But to each his own. I know whan I shoot a deer I played by the rules and that is all I have to worry about. All I can say is I am glad I have my own land and choose who hunts on it and they choose to obey the laws and keep us all safer.

    Legal is legal

As long as a person plays by the rules, it is a personal choice what to and what not to harvest. Who am I or anyone else to say it is wrong or right. That is why we have laws. Ones personal choice is just that, a personal choice. I guess after the years go by the thrill of the kill diminshes and the joy of the hunt takes over, which has me looking for something I want. Does that make me more ethical or a better hunter umm nope. Again it is a personal choice. One guy I hunt with has been hunting 15 years. He has harvested a few does over the years. This year he shot a 5 point 135 pound buck at my camp. He was proud as can be, and I was very happy for him. Would I have shot that deer? Probably not. Was I glad he did and he was happy with it. You bet I was.
  6. I stand corrected. My apologies. It is legal to try to beat the system and hunt before or after legal hours.
  7. check the regulations guide, there are 2 sections one when deer season is open and when it is closed. During open deer season, you can use only a rimfire rifle, shotgun bow or handgun. If hitting on a typo proves your point so be it. I am not the confused one. I have the guide here in my hand page 51 center column top of the page.
  8. check the regulations guide page 51 under hunting furbearers at night during open deer season. You will not you can only use a rimfire rifle and a shotgun bow or handgun. But I guess when you have no problem breaking the legal hunting hours law what is another one
  9. now read the part about hunting during open deer season. You quoted the part about when deer season is closed. Two separate sections. So check again
  10. I believe you better check that. During deer season, it is illegal to hunt with a deer caliber rifle. page 51 in the guide under hunting furbearers at night. It states if you are hunting in an area where any deer season is open, you may use a shotgun muzzleloader bow handgun or air gun. you may use any rimfire rifle except in westchester nassau and suffolk counties.
  11. It will go in a special place after I kill a deer or two with it. The serial number is in the 64 thousands.
  12. Most shooting accidents are either before or after legal light when things are not as easily seen. But I guess if I wear orange head to toe, you after hours guys are less likely to kill me in low light. When was the last time someone got shot at noon? And as far as shooting coyotes after legal hours, it is illegal to shoot coytoes with a deer caliber rifle during deer season. So your way to beat the system does not wash.
  13. umm nope. You are right keep the oil changed and just ride it. For a 300 it has lots of power. Nothing like my 750 king quad, but that is more of a plow machine and work around the camp toy.
  14. here are some pics of my 1988 honda fourtrax 300. I keep it at camp and it has drug out two deer this fall It runs like a charm and handles nice.
  15. pics added I took these a while ago.
  16. the doe I shot during muzzleloading this fall was with an H&R sidekick I bought for my fil befoere he passed away. My mil gave it back to me and first time in the stand within a half hour I shot a deer. Cant wait to use thi one duting late ml season
  17. so I guess if you wore brown it would be ok to shoot? Never ever depend on color as a safe target identification.
  18. will do soon I was just glad it wasnt my ex saying they willed her back to me.
  19. bear with me this gets complicated. My neighbor was is also my ex mother in law passed away on the third. Long story short, we were still close and I did a lot for her as her heatlh got worse. At 67 she was way too young but 50 years of cigarette smoking takes its toll. Anyway, my father in law passed away 5 years ago. I had purchased him a couple muzzleloaders in the past, and she gave them back to me a couple years ago. One was an H&R sidkick I finally shot a deer with tis fall and a cva staghorn. I kept the H&R and gave the cva to my nephew who is his grandson. I got him (my Father in law) started in muzzleloading, and he and I built a couple kits together. Her son came knocking on my door tonight. This would be my brother in law in the past. He had one of the sidelock kits we built. A t/c renegade 54 caliber and wanted me to have it. I did my best to turn him down, but he had papers my father in law had wrote out before he died and it was stated he wanted me to have the renegade. The gun is pristine. So I proudly put it in the safe. I just ordered some 54 cal supplies and hope to use it for late season in December if I can get it sighted in. It has a tang peep site on it. I will post pics when I get my camera back from camp, or when I take the gun to camp lol. It meant a lot to me.
  20. I know if one in the OGdensburg area which is about an hour away. He charges 60 bucks to do it and will grind and season for you also. With it quartered he will probably charge less. His name is Carl Cougler his number is 315 344-2428. If you call him tell him bubba sent you. he is actually my neighbor 4 houses down the road.
  21. lets just say that he was lucky he was not in my court. It is against the law to shoot a dog under the ag and markets laws. No one can legally dispatch a dog unless it presents eminent danger and you are a police officer, or a deuptized dog warden. And there still has to be justification. He would have had the book htrown at him in my court.
  22. I have an encore, but I put the aftermarket bergara barrel on it. Now it is a shooter.
  23. switching primers will be the key
  24. the problem falls in length. As the primer expand length wise an runs out of room, it expands diameter wise. ifit is only after you have shot it, it may be a dirty breech plug problem. What powder are you shooting and forgive me if you posted this, but I am too lazy to look back up the list. If you are shooting a dirty powder, just remove the oring and shoot without it. The oring takes up the room for the primer to expand. As stated some guys went to a narrower oring. MU recommends t7 primers. I use them in the mu plug with bh 209 and have never had a misfire, and stuck primers are a thing of the past after switching from win and cci
  25. some guys you just cant please.
