A hunter was shot and killed whet he was mistook for a deer at 5pm. 49 years old shot in the chest with a muzzleloader as it was the last evening of muzzleloading here in the nz. The spin will be of course he was not wearing orange, even though I am not sure of that. By 5 pm it was dark, so orange was not a big factor. Legal light ended at 4:19PM. 40 minutes later he was shot. I guess stretching the law a bit is no big deal. A real tragedy which could be avoided by obeying the law.

in a 1:48 twist hawken I have shit hornady xtps 240 grains in a harvestor sabot. They shot well enough to kill a few deer. I was using 80 grains of good ol goex ffg. I prefer and have stuck with round balls. Just as deadly and shoot better

I would try a powder change and see. Go up or down 5 grains and see.

I got one similar threatening to have me arrested for not paying a debt. After I sinickerd I said I am the local town justice. Would you like me to issue a warrant? I heard click. I have also have people try the scams on craigs list. They are so transparent it is hilarious.

I weigh my charges on my reloading scale. Everyone the same. That beinbg said, I get the same results from using the same measure you have. I shoot 100 grains bh 209 a harvestor crush rib sabot and 240 hornady xtp. This is inmy Encore and H&R sidekick. I am very happy with the loads. I guess to answer the question, I really do not see any real measurable difference from a measure or a scale. I would suggest moving the charge up or dowan a bit abnd see if they tighten up any.

to me this is a no brainer. I would have anonimously contacted the tip line and then you are off the hook fior pissing people off. Deer or no deer sign, I would stay out of there until the mess was cleaned up. If an officer had checked you in there, which they can do, and found it that close to you, you are busted. You would have a hard time explaining your way out of it. Stealing a stand and leaving a note for a guy who willingly breaks the law is kind of on the well dare I say it foolish. If the cousin does not hunt, he has no clue I am sure. However it may end in a place no one hunts legally. He may be mad about carving in a tree though.

I switched to blackhorn 209 and have never looked back for the inlines. My sidelock and flinter it is good old goex black powder for now. From what I have read they say they shoot like 777 but less crud ring. -
Did anyone ever think it was the biggest predator of all, MOTHER NATURE. I mean one says dont shoot does the next says dont shoot bucks. In the southern tier the past few winters, you have been hit with some pretty heavy snows. Mother natures way of keeping the population in check. (winter kill) About 15 years ago in the nz you would trip over deer to get to a stand. The next few years things have balanced out. Now you still hear there are no deer. No the reality is there is the right amont of deer for the area (carrying capacity). Hunters tend to get spoiled when there is an over population and hunting is easier, and expect to see deer like that all the time. Look at natural predators also. Yeah almost every doe has two fawns a year. Realisitcally only one survives due to predator influence. Stop knocking yourselves out. Hunters are such a small factor in animal population it is almost not worth mentioning. Do some homework find a nce deer and be happy you did instead of mad you arent seeing deer by the herd every day. Hunting isnt all about shooting something.

Late Muzzlelaoding starts here tomorrow. Long range says colder over the next weekend and sunny. I plan to be at camp friday afternoon to hunt the weekend. I got my stuff in my possibles bag tonight, loaded the speed loaders and the gun. Gonna use my H&R sidekick, asit worked well for me early muzzleloading. -

I asked my dauighters for a portable plug in the cigarette lighter air pump. I have a portabkle tank I take to camp, but it seems to leak the air by the time I get there. I usually never ask for anything, then I am never disappointed. -

are they reloads or factory ammo? I have the 99 in 300. I reload for it. If the case is not full length sized, the lever will not close entirely. By entirely I mean within a fraction of where it should be. The gun will still fire, but the safety will not engage. If they are reloads, try some factory ammo. If ti is factory ammo, try a different factory ammo. If that does not fix it, have it looked at.

Yesterday I was in the same area, again on the property line. I had a doe about 40 yards away in the corn filed. All oi fa sudden behond me the shots started abiut 4:10PM. The doe took off running and she was not being shot at. Well long story short, before he exited the field, there was a DEC officer , whom I have dealt with there. He shot a spike from the truck. Tickets galore I am sure. Watching the news to see and if not, I will find out. I am more than sure hunting from the truck is done.
