  1. If you have problems and decide to return to the original, I iwll buy the other one off you. Just let me know
  2. the oring is something that is only in the aftermarket mu breech plug for H&R muzzleloaders
  3. it is a new breech plug yes but it is a replacement plug made to basic specifications. As I stated, head space varies in the guns so it may need adjusting. Also as my post stated, it was ome of many suggestions, one of which was to try different primers.
  4. If it is after you have shot 12-15 times, change the oring to see if that helps. I had the same problem when I first got my MU plug. I called Nick at MU. He said with the head spacing different from gun there is slight tolerance differences. he told me to drill out the primer hole approx 5/1000 of an inch which is not very much. This accomplshes two things. it gives room for slight more expansion horizontally rather than vertically and it also cones the end of the primer hole. he also suggests using 777 primers which are a little less hot. I use them with blackhorn 209 powder, and have not had a misfire yet. I was kind of instrumental in getting the plug going with Nick, whom I have known for a while. If all this is confusing, shoot me a pm with a phone number I will will call and explain better. The simplest solution by far is just remove the oring and shoot it without. This however does tend to allow for more blowback. One last fix is to change the brand of orings you use. Some have went to a thinner ring with good success also. The simplest solution has been to drill the plug.
  5. I pay 75 a year combined for both my atv and motorcycle. The atv is on as a second vehicle. I only use it on my own property, but I still like them legal. That is for liability only. For the 12 bucks a year, I will resister it. I insure by bike anyway and no extra cost for the atv, so why not.
  6. I have an encore 50 cal ml and an encore 25-06. Neither are prohunters, but still encores. I love them both. I have hunted with a single shot for many eyars to include H&R and T/C. I do not feel that hunting with a single shot has no limitations. In fact I believe it makes you a better hunter all around. No spraying the woods with lead. One shot one kill.
  7. I am not that old, plus I do not bait deer with a lunch pail full of corn. I wear orage suspenders under my jacket so it is all good.
  8. Hi Ken I hunt 6c also in the dekalb area. near hd school. Lots of activity this weekend
  9. a buddy shot a 5 point this evening who was trailing a doe with his nose to the ground. He bleated the buck stopped dead and headed toward him. I know a 5 point no big deal, but this is his first buck ever, and his first deer in 11 years. I had a doe and a I belive 6 point buck go by me this morning like they were flying a jet. The doe first, and the buck right behind her right on her tail. Much more activity than I have seen so far this season.
  10. 6 c here also but not familiar with the areas you mentioned. Good luck and welcome aboard
  11. 6 c here. Just starting to see some activity. I expect this will be a good wekeend.
  12. no snow here sunny and cold oh yeah loving it
  13. and predator hunters are LEGAL when doing so. I can not recall the ever hearing of an incident where someone was shot predator hunting. Again I callit hunter insanity. The new reports coming out about this one which is pretty local to me, they were also drinking and both the shooter and shoote were under the influence of alcohol.
  14. agreed 2 1/2 between 85 and 90. A nice first deer no doubt. Thay being said as a 2.5, Iwould let him walk just because he is the stock I would want. But he no doubt has a daddy and brothers somewhere.
  15. he kitchen at camp. eggs toast on the wood cookstove bacon homefries and heavy coffee. No charge just bring your appetite
  16. There was obe in franklin county last year during ml season. A guy shot his hunting partner after dark with a shotgun. REAL ETHICAL GUYS AGAIN.
  17. legal light ended at 6:13PM. Kind of negates the agrument that 15 minutes before or after legal light is no big deal.
  18. I think I heard that in Waddington yesterday geesh it is loud
  19. wasnt justifying myself, I was answering youer inquiry as to why it is a challenge. I se eno challenge is using a gun that shoots 4 or 5 times whether shotgun or rifle. My rifle is a single shot also.
  20. plus when you live and hunt in rifle country, the ml is much more challenging.
  21. I started hunting many years ago when I was 16. I hunted then with a T/C hawken 50 caliber sidelock which I still have. I wont go into the details as to why I started with one, because it seems to come back and bite me on the butt when someone gets a burr under their saddle. I just love the ml. So, I guess you could say I was into muzzleloaders before it was cool to have a ml, and there was no special season for them, Ed if I had not shot a nice doe last saturday, I would have shot her too. it was my observations and what I saw that made it a good evening 1 the doe was alone which tells me they have run off the fawns, to get ready to rut. 2 the buck paid absolutely no attention to her which tells me she is no where near ready yet. So all the scents and attractants will be more of a bad thing than a good one right now. 3 Deer love sugar beets.
  22. I was watching a sugar beet plot this evening. The rain quit about 4, so I headed out at 4:30. Around 5:15, a doe came into the plot, then shortly after a spike horn. I was 30 to 40 yards away most of the time and they were clueless I was there. I watched them for 45 minutes or so, then they left the plot. I enjoyed watching them, but was happy to let them walk. Back to camp tomorrow for the last evening of muzzleloading, then rifle starts Saturday. I intend to keep using the ml, but it is my choice as it was my choice to pass on the deer. I like having choices and not being told what I can shoot.
