  1. A great program but the owner can still say who he lets on. Same people who always did go on, but now he gets a break for them.
  2. same an ncountry. Warming up over the weekend though
  3. You hit it on the head Joe. At my camp, there are 8 of us who hunt. Family and friends. You may have guys who show up once during the season and stay for an hour or two. Others show up before daylight, eat breakfast and then go out fora few hours and go home and come back in the evening. Then you have the ones who show up spend the night and you can not pry them out of bed the next morning. I mean to each his own, but it is difficult when you make plans for a hunt and it all falls apart. You start to think why bother. Yeah it may be because of the way I grew up, but there are always weekends I am at camp alone all weekend. I think to myself sometimes I know guys who would love to be here and would hunt. But how do you say ot the guys who do not show up go away. Just the fast paced instant gratification world wee live in. Then I have one guy who shows up two or three times a year for a few hours and complains to me after season he did not see any deer. Umm spend some time in the woods. It sure increases the odds.
  4. False The next poster plans to participate in the shot heard around NY state on 1/11/14 at noon
  5. False I have a kabar fixed blade little finn. The next poster is hoping that the safe act is repealed in its entirety.
  6. shoulder it ti see if ti is a comfortable fit. Handle it a bit to see if the action and all is also comfortable. Ask to shoot it if possible. Plus the more you look it over and check it. the more likely you might get a better price.
  7. I know a lot of people including myself who use the moon phase and feeding times quite successfully. But a study is better than actual input I understand
  8. yuppers. The real smart money is investing in reloading equipment and making your own.
  9. Geesh you make me sound ancient. I bought my new recurve 4 years ago so I would say no. I have bought different muzzleloaders over the years so again I would say no. I just purchased a new flint lock to hunt with next year and my scope for my rifle I bought I think 3 years ago. You are making my entire point. everyone sees the fools on tv with their free encores and need an encore. The huintign shows are not about hunting, they are about pushing products. I had an encore and sold it after one year because I could out shoot it with my sidelock.. I do have an H&R inline Ml that I had the barrel fitted to my 25-06 frame. I sometimes use it during regular season. I bought a bolt action savage axis last fall and it sat in the cabinet in leiu of the muzzleloader and single shot rifle.
  10. it is not only the land issue. All the newest high tech gimmicks that people spend a ton on every year. What happened to toe old days of hunting in pair of jeans and jacket? I love how people sped big money on cam then cover it all with orange. And everyone needs the most expensive stand and trail cam there is to be successful. I love looking at trail cam pics and you read this one is old crooked horn or what ever. When did we start naming them? All I can think of is the canned hunts on tv. A lot are Michael Waddell wannabe's And you need a range finder to know exactly how far the deer is away so you know exactly which pin to use on your bow sight or which dot to use in your scope. . I remember numbers that went with a deer was weight and number fo points on the antlers, not number of inches of "bone." No one seems satisfied any longer with what there is for hunting. and what is available. It is all about morphing the herd into super deer. I prefer the older slower styles of hunting. My bow has no sights, my arrows are aluminum and my scope has one set of cross hairs in the reticle andmy muzzleloader is a sidelock with a peep sight. It is almost like as the attempts are made to make super deer. the hunter thinks he needs super equipment to kill one. And if you do not get with the times, you are ridiculed and dismissed as not knowing anything about how real hunting is.
  11. I have said for a while that hunting itself will go back to the elites. And we are allowing it for the reasons stated above. No one is happy with what they have. They want bigger racks to hang in a wall. Too many hunting shows to.watch that give the false impression of real hunting. But that false impression seems to be what most want. It is not too far down the road either. I bought my own place to do so. My assessment on my property tripled and so did my taxes. It is becoming a rich sport now. I pay more in taxes for my hunting property than my home. Sent from my LGL35G using Tapatalk 2
  12. Rochester Buffalo Philadelphia
  13. Up in the loft there re 6 beds. Down stairs there is a bedroom in the back as well as three pull out couches. two in the living room one in the kitchen area. So you can sleep a minimum of 9 people. There are two storage buildings on the property plus a wood shed on the back of the camp. One building I keep the 4 wheeler in one building for the summer and fall then bring it home for winter.
  14. exactly throw a bone and some will be happy. Delay ammo checks and they will remain happy until after November.
  15. My little shack. There is a new window in the kitchen the big one and the siding is finished. I also put in a new wood stove this fall. It has a wood cook stove propane stove lights and refrigerator. Also wired for the generator.
  16. Internet sales shipped to an individual are done as of January 15th. Ammo has to be shipped to an ffl or an ammunition sales place. Not all places who sell ammo have an FFL. for the background check. Now here are a couple things wrong with that. 1 The background check has been delayed, but the internet sales restrictions have not been. So to get it it needs to be shipped to the person who can do the background check and paperwork. If you get someone willing to receive it, which I bet will be a chore in itself, can they release it to you without the check or does it have ot sit there until the check can be completed? So you buy a brick of 22's and they get shipped to the person who says they will do it and it has to set there for a year until they get this all ironed out. I know in my area no one is planning to do these transfers from internet sales. They make nothing on it. They have to turn the money over to the state when they do the transaction. Plus a ton of paperwork, so there is no incentive to do it. Would you do it for nothing. I would pretty much plan to give up on out of state ammo sales.
  17. http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/202309/federal-judge-upholds-safe-act-with-a-few-exceptions/ this article tells it better
  18. I certainly am not saying throw up your hands. In fact just the opposite. Dig in deeper and fight even harder. Just saying these are the types of battles we will have in the courts. The way to win this is to get rid of the bums in Albany who pushed this through and get a new set who will repeal it. Remember the 4 boxes of liberty Soap box Jury box, ballot box cartridge box. Get out there and educate your family and friends nullify by jury and attempts to convict, vote the bums out but do not settle for the lesser of two evils. Keep your guns close.
  19. these three paragraphs say it all and why I stand by this is not good. In resolving the pending motions, this Court notes that whether regulating firearms is wise or warranted is not a judicial question; it is a political one. This Court’s function is thus limited to resolving whether New York’s elected representatives acted within the confines of the United States Constitution in passing the SAFE Act. Undertaking that task, and applying the governing legal standards, the majority of the challenged provisions withstand constitutional scrutiny. As explained in more detail below, although so-called “assault weapons” and largecapacity magazines, as defined in the Safe Act, may — in some fashion — be “in common use,” New York has presented considerable evidence that its regulation of these weapons is substantially related to the achievement of an important governmental interest. Accordingly, the Act does not violate the Second Amendment in this respect. Further, because the SAFE Act’s requirement that ammunition sales be conducted “face-to-face” does not unduly burden interstate commerce, it does not violate the dormant Commerce Clause.
  20. True the next poster prefers not to hunt with a bow
  21. As I said but I will repeat it again. The only part of the law he found unconstitutional was the number of bullets you can have in a magazine. Banning guns was not unconstitutional? You find that ok. Please look up the background of this judge. He is a member of a gun control group. Every group in Ny to include NYSRPA and SCOPE are saying this is bad. No one will argue any part now but the number of bullets you can have in a mag. trust me I do not mean ot sound crass, but I am very well connected with people in the know on a first name basis. You are falling for this just as they hoped. This is slap in the face to gun owners. It is not ok that you can now have a 30 round mag for your ar, but you can not buy the ar. Look big not at this little bone.
  22. Believe me this is not a start. This is a set back. All that he said was bad was the part where you can have more bullets in your gun. But you still can not get the gun they go in. This is far from good. Very far. Look at ti this way. He is saying all but the number of bullets is ok with the safe act. Really? There is no victory here. He threw a little bone to make us happy. I for one am not happy
