Found a dump site along the Susquehanna river between Vestal and Owego NY one time while Kayaking. There were litterally 100's of deer piled up. I think they compost them now and dont dump them in Broome County. They have a big wood chipper thing that grinds them up and spits them out.

If it was me there would have been quite a few dead wolves in that pic next to a cut up moose.

I think a JackDaniels infused fertilizer would work well on the plots to. It seems to be all the craze today.

Ah what a load of crap!! They have been throwin more and more money at education for yrs and it hasn't changed a thing. Only thing its done is make Union payrolls fatter. You want your kids to learn like the Japs than you got to treat your kid like a Jap kid and take away all their free time and put their face in a book 24 / 7. I dont see American parents doing that to their kids, So no amount of money or time is going to fix anything. If the kid doesnt want to learn they arent going to. And another thing, birth rates are at an all time low so why do we need more money to teach less kids than we did 10 yrs ago?

Had a 4 point walk up under my stand last yr with a hand size hole in his neck and a arrow down through the neck into his shoulder. Looked like it had been there for weeks. I put him down with a double lung. He was so weak that after the shot he just fell over and died on the spot which suprised the heck out of me. After inspecting him I didnt even gut him I just tagged him and called the DEC and they came out and gave me a new tag.

It seems like its worse this yr than in yrs past. I have been getting into my stand 1/2 hr before sunrise every day I went out this yr and without fail I would hear 3 or 4 shots before I could even see the reticle in my scope. Same with sundown.

Funny thing is I asked my Daughters teacher today about it and she knew nothing of it. Can you say Union fight.

I border Stateland and scumbagland so I dont hang perm stands. I dont trust them to leave them alone and they can access with ATV's and haul my chit away if they really wanted to. Funny part is most of the tresspassers are coming off the 500 acre's next door and the 500 acer stateland on the other side. For some reason they think that all the deer within miles must have to be on our 200 acre's?

I think it depends on the size of the deer. I have shot small deer that I have cut up within hrs of the kill and they were fine. Ive also shot bucks in the 160 to 180 lbs that I have cut up soon after the kill and ended up thawing out what I cut up and grinding it into sausage it was so tough. I crock potted a buck roast for 10 hrs once and it was still tough and stringy.

Shoot, next time im walking right up to them, stick my cell in their face, snap a pic and walk away!!! Lets see them get out of that one.

That was kind and gentle!! Next option was cut half way through the top rung on the stand so it broke and he busted his hump from 20 ft up.

When I was a young ruttin buck I use to be thin to. I got married and stopped chasing does and now im fallin apart and got plenty of fat up my backside. Thats why now is a good time to switch from hunting doe's to hitting the food sources again. Bucks that dont fatten up soon on some good eats are doomed.

So Ive been reading up on the subject of ageing your deer before butchering. Everthing I have read says to hang your deer ( or refrigerate ) above freezing but below 40 deg to keep bacteria at bay but allowe the enzymes to break down collogen in the muscle tissue. Most suggest 3 days for younger deer up to 7 for older deer and more for tough older bucks. And the worst thing you could ever do is cut up a deer during rigor as this causes shortening of the muscle fibers and an everlasting state of toughness. Which would explain alot about some of the venision ive been eating. ; ) Next deer I get is def getting hung for a week before I cut it up. Whats everyone else do?

Funny how the DEC and Gov is expected to control Fracking but they do nothing about habitat loss and over development. I dont know if I would say that. The housing development they put in up the road from my house has more deer in it than the 200 acres of pristine forest I hunt.

Heart shot = no more blood pumping to brain and instant death with a bullet. Doe I shot this yr with 240 grain xtp hollow point from the smokepole, dropped on the spot. Centered her right through the heart and she died just as fast as the three deer I have head shot. I prefer double lung and heart, heard to many horror stories of guys taking hero shots and them not turning out like they expected it to. I no longer consider the head a viable option. If you keep it in the ribs you wont waste any meat. Take your time and aim. If you can hit a small target like a head you should have no problem with the vitals. Guys waste meat because they rush the shot and spine the deer or they shoot them through the shoulders and need a follow up shot. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!!!
