  1. "Personally, if a regulation of law effects a person of a given age, the person of the given age should be able to understand the law as written"

that's what you said, and I took that to mean if a law affects a 12 year old, the 12 year old should be able to understand the law, no?.........maybe I misunderstood. That's why I said that's why the law requires an adult to help them understand and follow the law.

  2. a child awakens to the sound of his parents having sex, the child runs into the room and screams "Daddy leave Mommy alone you're hurting her" the parents calm the child down and explain to him that they were making a baby............hours later the Father returns home from work only to find the child crying hysterically, the Father asks the child "what's wrong?" to which the child replies "remember that baby you made this morning? well after you went to work, the Mailman came over and ate it"

  3. I have never had any issues with well packaged venison, vacuum sealed lasts longer. I also am calling some bull on the pork no longer than 6 months. I buy whole loins when on sale for smoking and have no issues as well with sausages I make with venison and pork mixed. They are all just fine and tasty.

I think there's a few guys who raise and butcher their on pigs, I doubt their eating it all in 6 months...maybe they can jump in and tell us about it.

  4. Kind of goes back to some of the comments. It can happen easily enough without trying, but I'd bet there isn't on person on here  that hasn't at least broken one law. Personally, if a regulation of law effects a person of a given age, the person of the given age should be able to understand the law as written. That should be the litmus test.

And for some of our resident members, I will refrain today from bashing lawyers...lol. You know, the ones that write them and then the others that make a living prosecuting and defending the folks that don't stand a prayer of understanding them.

Most of us on here have been around firearms and hunting a very long time.  Some their entire lives. I am 49 and been very active in the hunting and shooting since 8 following my father around. I bet many of us, myself included have had some "well, didn't know that" moments over the years. Imagine the new comers and how hard it is to know all of it.(and this is totally a side note and not saying this douchebag that pulled this was a new comer or didn't know the law)

true, but that's why some of the laws, whether we agree or not, state that there needs to be supervision....I assume they realize that a child who is affected by the law needs that parental control because the child isn't expected to understand and know them.

  5. Do you see how convoluted these laws are written??

yes, I didn't put to much effort into reading them, but they do seem a bit all over the place...and like I mentioned earlier, paintball guns look like they fall into the same category as BB and pellet guns, but there seems to be little enforcement as to who is using them as far as age goes...not there should be, but those places are pretty popular.

  6. 265-20 subsection 7

firearms Under 12 is a no go under any circumstance. instructor or not, parent or not. range or not. hunting or not.

I put it up for the ones who were debating age...........I didn't go back through this thread to see what ages were in question.

  7. I Believe it reads A instructor or parent with a hunter certificate can allow kids to target shoot with a gun...I have that and have been members of a gun club for years....if not the law enforcement officers also shooting...didn't seem to know the law either...hhmmm

pretty sure you're right about that, it's all in here if you feel like digging through this...

  8. and another time when I was 13, my Dad, who doesn't have a drivers license, let me sit on his lap and drive while I was sipping a beer, luckily my Aunt was there to slide into the driver's seat when we got pulled over.........close call, and then dopey Dad went and put it on Facebook........as they say, the rest is history, or you can read it in the local paper if you want.

  9. Yeah, then this kid tells his 10 year old buddy whose parents abide by the law and plan to take him hunting when he is of legal age that he shot a deer. How will that pan out?

Absolutely mind boggling that you guys would allow your kids first deer to be an illegal one. Bending the rules for yourself is one thing, but starting a kid off on the wrong foot with their first kill is as bad as it gets. Don't give a crap who this offends either.

one time my Dad and I were smoking pot because he said it was ok, and when the cops came I handed the joint off to my Aunt and she said it was hers, thought we were in the clear until my genius Dad put it on Facebook..........really went south after that, I hate when that happens.

  10. Hard to tell what the weather is here where I am.  There's a big antlered buck peeking thru my window and I can't see the sky.  I've had to turn the lights on in the room because he is blocking all the window light coming thru.  F^ing AR's has made all the bucks so damned big that it's making me waste money on electricity!

if you have a child under the legal age to hunt, let him shoot it and have your sister tag it..........nobody will care!!!!

  11. Well I can't find either where I said "what if" or other "states allow"

was talking about responses in general...and you did pick out the part that you found acceptable, unless I read you response wrong.........but this thread has pretty much ran its course and we learned that breaking game laws is not really as frowned upon by some as I thought.

  12. Well I can't find where I said it was OK they used someone else's tag, so shouldn't that just give you a clue and answer for your question

right, so let's look at the story in it's entirety instead of picking it apart and finding the acceptable parts and adding a lot of outside "what ifs" and "what other states allow" and every other twist that can be put on it....but like I said, this is a hunting site that many express their displeasure of hunting violators on, but chose to twist it every which way and what not....it is an eye opener as to what is accepted as far as hunting violations go.

  13. I have no problem with a father letting his son shoot a deer with him under parental supervision......heck if there was a law that sent people to jail for shooting there first deer before they were 14 this sites members would drop in half......hell I'd be in jail too

and you're ok with the part of them using someone else's tag so they could both continue hunting? last I saw on this site, that really pisses people off, along with every other game violation that people say lack enforcement....but I guess that's just people talking......guess I was way off on how people feel about this kind of stuff, and that's why I initially started this thread.

  14. I wonder how a barrel gets bent?  I realize it's probably not impossible, but really it must take some serious forct to bend on!

that's what I was thinking, I would think it takes some real rough handling to bend it in the mail or during regular use.....maybe a factory defect?
