not to jump on any one side, and I may be totally wrong, but I believe that many of these diseases have been around forever, the only thing new is that they now test for them..........now everything has to die from a specific cause...believe it or not, some diseases are naturally occurring and will claim lives...both in animals and humans.

and if there is any question about the reduced recoil ammo, my son took a buck during the youth season at 100+ yards with it a few years ago using my rifle, and I used it as well being that's what I last sighted in it with and took 2 deer at about 100 yards with very good results...........and when all said and done, there is little change in point of impact between that and full load ammo at 100 yards.

Merrel's are a very good, Irish Setter is another good choice.

even scarier that someone had to sponsor and back these laws in order to have them brought in front of him to be signed..........thank god I had all my dogs tattooed and pierced last year.
-
are you going with that because of the size of the gun and the caliber? personally, I would get a rifle in .308 or 30-06 and start him off with reduced recoil ammo and avoid having to upgrade in the future....just a thought.

Have you owned these in the past? Good luck with them?
I generally go with Lacrosses for archery/early gun boots and then a heaver store brand insulated version for late season since the heavier Lacrosses have a bad fit for me. Problem is I generally only get a year or two out of the heavier ones since they tend to be cheap. I know Dick's offers higher thinsulate ones.
I bought them a few years ago and they were very heavy from what I remember, like walking around with weights on my feet.........not sure how they last because I returned them after one outing.

and Lotto
absolutely, can't believe I forgot that.

Beer, porn and tobacco store.......thats gotta be a winner

could try these and paint to your liking, just get a size bigger than you would normally wear............I know a few who use them when waterfowl hunting in the snow, from what I remember they're made from quiet material.

Unless she was laying down, a near vertical tree top shot with a 22 wouldn't hit her in the chest. Even then, it would probably not result in more than a slight bruise at worst. Rifle shot trajectories are parabolas. At a steep angle, the blunt shape of a 22lr slug will soon fall vertically & would have no more energy that if it was dropped from a tall building.
More likely it was someone shooting at a squirrel on a low branch, on the side of a tree trunk or even the ground resulting in a richochet. Maximum range with a 22lr is achieved at about 35° muzzle angle. Maximum travel distance is achieved with shallow angle shots skipping along the ground.
does that apply to New York or back when you lived in Indiana?.........

the better question would be is "if you had $200,000 to lose on a business venture what would it be?".........if someone handed me that kind of cash to blow, not too sure a new business is the best way to invest it.

very sad..and eleven children too.

50+ year old gun in question here.
yep, so a little history on whether or not it was ever successfully sighted in before could help in narrowing down the problem.
-
was the rifle ever sighted in with this scope or another attached?

I have done this with the scopes that I have Millet rings on . Both sides get tightened so if you screw in one side more than the other , your scope is off . It works for me and I will continue to do this easy adjustment .
ok, I misunderstood your first post......now I get what you were saying, and I agree, uneven tightening of the screws can rotate the scope.
-
I've never done it, but was told that if having difficulty with the amount of adjustment, crank the elevation and windage as far one way as possible, then count number of clicks going back the other way till you max out, than go back half the amount (make sense?).........I don't know if "tweaking" the tightness on the rings to adjust a scope is a good idea, I use a torque screwdriver so that all screws are equally adjusted....

Since President Barack Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued 3,120 new final regulations, equaling 27,854 pages in the Federal Register, totaling approximately 27,854,000 words.

and probably just as questionable...............

are you upstate or on L.I.? all recreational use of DEC land on L.I. requires a seasonal pass.

why does the term "spray and pray" come to mind when I read some of this stuff?

Without a doubt there is always some on there.. Typically going for 150-200.. If I can get a bead or rifle sights on the old barrell for less than thats what I'll do... If smithing exceeds the cost of a barrel on eBay .
I may have an extra barrel for a 500 laying around from a gun I no longer have, if I do, I'll pm you the details and a price if you're interested.

UPDATE:
Today was a success............I stopped and got two gift certificates for my father and his wife, both restaurants. One is a fancy breakfast place, Breakin' Eggs and the other is Rizotto on Maple Rd. Both places are winners.
last night I was laying in bed and it hit me.........back in October we were at Tractor Supply getting dog food and my wife was snooping around the clothing area. The place is FAR from her favorite places to shop was there just killing time with me. Well she spotted a pair of those weird tight stretchy jeans from Levis (IIRC). They were $50 and she said "naa, too much money" At the time I took a picture of the tag and thought I'd Google it and see if I could score them cheaper somewhere else. I never did find them cheaper but damn the luck....they were 15% off today, WOOT!! Because I took a picture I knew the exact size. Smart? No, VERY smart.
Also yesterday I thought of something else she has been nagging me for; an extra thing to hang clothes behind our bedroom door. I checked Kohl's, Pier 1 and finally Target before I scored what I wanted.
Under the "Lame" category you can add the FREE $35 Gift Certificate for Banchetti's Sunday Brunch that came with the $100 to Rizotto's. (free is good)
So here's what I have now:
-Work shoes
-Delta Sonic 3 car wash package & dinner at Applebee's
-Pants
-Clothes hanger/rack
-$35 GC to Banchetti's Sunday Brunch
Tomorrow I'll grab some perfume and a card.......maybe something else too????
I really liked the idea of a musical or play not nothing really caught my eye and a couple that did were sold out. I thought about a movie deal but ahhh, boring.
sounds like you earned yourself a manicure, pedicure and a facial after all that work!.........

Have someone shoot you with it and then you'll know what you are doing to someones pet.
But before you do that why not check with the DEC and see if that is legal to do. I'd bet it isn't..............................
I have a neighbor near our house that was issued a permit and some rubber buckshot by DEC to deal with nuisance bear, so you're probably right...I'b be surprised if you could just shoot nuisance animals with it as you see fit.

even though the taking of a doe is not part of the lease deal, and the landowner is not obsessed with herd reduction, the fact that he even mentioned he would like one for meat should have been hint enough that your Dad should have absolutely killed one.........do you not agree?
WTH Is Wrong with king Andy!!???

and to think, I was about to have my dogs nipples pierced, her idea not mine..........she has 8 so it would have cost me a fortune.
