I bet the bowling alley that guy went to is gonna be pretty empty for quite awhile.
-
see, nothing a little medicine can't clear up..........
-
oh boy.......better fasten your seatbelts.
-
I decided to omit slugs from my comment due to the fact that the topic is about buckshot......obviously if you start slinging slugs around at running deer the whole game changes.
-
is there really much difference in the safety aspect of jump shooting or shooting at running deer with buckshot then there is jump shooting and shooting at moving game with any other type of shotgun ammo (except slugs)?........not really.
-
The politicians who say there is nothing to worry about, should hold their press conferences in the Ebola patients room.........maybe then I'd believe them.
-
nothing new, trespassers always had a chance to be ticketed if caught and the landowner wanted to press charges. If issued a summons, they have court appearance dates and usually if the person fails to show up for court, a warrant is issued for their arrest. The fines go to the State.

Do You Wear Hunter Orange When Getting To Your Stand?
jjb4900 replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
I notice that there is always different standards for wearing orange when hunting public or private lands, I think that the overwhelming majority of people shot while hunting are shot by members of their own hunting party and not by strangers........ -
sounds like there's a lot more than just hunting in your DNA, maybe an extra chromosome too?
-
of course it's easier, if I had been hunting with one from day one my archery take would probably be double what it is.....when I first started I hunted from the ground, drawing a bow while on the ground is a killer, you remove that aspect with a crossbow, all you gotta do is point it at the spot you expect it to step into your shooting lane and pull the trigger when it steps into your shooting lane...can't really argue with that aspect.
-
it has nothing to do with age, I know plenty of guys in their 30's and 40's who are probably one Big Mac away from death, on the other hand I know guys in their 60's who still run marathons........

Do You Wear Hunter Orange When Getting To Your Stand?
jjb4900 replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
it's not the weapon you have to worry about, it's the guy behind.......the same guy who would accidentally shoot someone during gun season is likely to be just as careless with a longbow or crossbow. -
who cares what the time on someone's post says?......."if it's brown it's down"
-
I used to shoot a specific fixed broadhead that up to 20 yards shot perfect..........25-30 yards it would do crazy things, did you practice at this range with your broadheads?
-
I'm more disgusted by the guy who is only out there to shoot a big mature buck and then after he does, the meat is still in his freezer a year later and freezer burned or is fed to his dog, but the mount is proudly displayed for all to see...........I have more respect for the guy who shoots a deer of ANY size and color configuration and puts it to good use.
-
you would think they would be quick to jump on this issue and put out some type of statement......it's really gonna kill sales if they just let the rumor mill run wild.
-
prices really don't seem that outrageous to me.......especially for something you can walk away from at the end of the year if you're not happy.
-
I'm assuming it's a "ticket honey pot", due to the overwhelming amount of violations.........
-
Remington reduced recoil works fine, and other than the recoil I doubt you would find much difference in performance, both at the range and on deer.......I've used and seen it used in both 30-06 and 308.
-
my thought's exactly..........
-
wow, I wouldn't be too happy if the outfitter wasn't equipped to properly care for the meat......
-
do you mean DEC? no, you don't have to notify them if you can't recover, but don't even be considering that as an option at this point.........point of impact and the arrow can give you a lot of clues, and it should really be the point you start trailing, regardless of where you last saw the deer travelling.
-
not sure how much experience you have, but many new hunters will think they have made a perfect shot and just plow headfirst in the direction they think the deer went, because "it's gotta be right there" and the result is a messed up bloodtrail and lost deer.......back out, take some time to relax and go back at it slowly and methodically and make sure you mark each spot.
-
was tossing around the idea of getting a crossbow and almost bought a Ten Point based on the rave reviews.......maybe next year.
-
I wouldn't start making large circles at this point, you don't want to disturb what little bloodtrail there may be by walking all over it....hands and knees from first blood, and make sure you mark the spot before you move on to the next......liver shot could take a long time to expire as could a single lung hit.
