  1. the one I helped skin out and butcher reminded me of a giant raccoon.........but it was very good eating.
  2. I'm pretty sure the choke you have now will be fine, I've never bought a choke for steel shot, just used what came with the gun.....the only problem shooting steel that I'm aware of, is shooting it through really old guns.
  3. if you're gonna use the blind you built, I would get it out there now.
  4. the most important thing is making sure it's clean and dry before you add a protective coat of oil......after that any of the good name brand protective oils will be just fine.
  5. actually, the tag usage is less restrictive in Suffolk County.
  6. just follow that link......very easy to understand.
  7. has this thread gotten confusing enough yet?.............
  8. yes, you can pretty much use any tag during any season in Suffolk, check out the link I posted it explains it all.

  10. ok, Suffolk technically does not have an Archery season.....they have a regular season that only allows archery equipment.........so you would use your regular tag or both during that season. I called and confirmed this last year.
  11. I guess shooting a deer really wasn't for them........that seemed to satisfy their curiosity and they were done.
  12. I wonder how many who take the course actually continue hunting after the first couple years, both my wife and daughter took the course and hunted until they got a deer, after that they were done..............
  13. my guess is, that if you saw how supermarket and restaurant meat was handled prior to our consumption, it would probably cure you from ever eating it again...........you'll be fine.
  14. seeing the words "Hunters" and "Deer Breeding" in the same sentence was enough for me not to read it...............
  15. yes, Timberpoint is legal to hunt, just not on the golf course itself.
  16. I usually brown the meat in a pan first..........about 6 hours on low should do it....but you really can't over cook it, I just got a new crockpot that seems to cook at a higher temperature than my old one......
  17. venison with a couple cans of cream of mushroom soup, enough to cover the meat, about two tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce and some mushrooms...add about a cup of sour cream before serving......makes a nice stroganoff.
  18. I'm fairly confident that hunting on the golf course itself is not permitted, I used to hunt the tidal wetland that borders the Connetequot River.....haven't been there in years, so can't give you any recent updates.
  19. I've hunted Werteim several times....area 3 is a tough one to figure out, very thick brush, I got picked for that area the last two years and have had slam dunk shots at several bucks, but saw no does..............wish I had good advice for you, but unfortunately I don't.
  20. I have a Traditions Vortex and use hornady SST's the one's with the red sleeves, some can be a real bitch to load.......each gun is different.
