  1. from a hunter's point of view, it's probably a more accurate depiction of the average group of guys that hunt together than the shows made up of professional hunters that sit around after the hunt, eat expertly prepared meals and drink from their red cups while acting like choir boys watching video replays of the days hunt and footage from the trail cameras.......that's all after they drive back into their $500,000.00 garage with their badboy buggy after laying the smack down on a mack daddy  buck.

  2.   not that I need to explain to you but since you invoked the ASS-U-ME clause..

I have served every time I've been ask...My daughter turns 30 just once in either of our lives...I lost my mother to cancer when I was 12yrs old...and never had a chance to celebrate lifes mile stones with her...I'll be dipped if I'm going to miss out with my daughter...Because some twit didn't want to follow the laws or some Cop /DA wanted to be an a-hole...What ever the case they can find another person  in this case and call me another time...or perhaps track down some of the ppl around our area that refuse to register to vote ...just to avoid being called....

By the way Lawd's is right ....but he also should realize how much I'd like to get a good case to make a decision on...last time I was foreman ..and it didn't turn out for the sheriffs to well....

G-man...Told Mr B that I was just going to tell them that my bladder is the size of a pea...and there is no wait a moment....lol ;)

my comment was in no way intended as a dig towards you, but a comment towards a flawed system that forces people to be inconvenienced to do something they would rather not do.

  3. I wonder how the large ammo manufacturers are set up to produce. Take Remington for example, do they produce all calibers at the same time or do they set up and run a specific caliber or two until they produce a certain amount and then switch over to another caliber? It would also be interesting to know if they've stepped up production or if they're just going about business as usual.

  4. I liked it more than watching those overly obnoxious "pro-hunter's" on a lot of the big production show's, and I would think a non-hunter would find it less offensive and maybe get a better understanding of hunting by watching this type of show compared to the others. As far as the guys being idiots, I think many of us would cringe if a camera crew filmed us for a weekend at deer camp and then we had to sit and watch it replay on tv.

  5. I definately don't want april hunting I beleive that is a bad idea

I definately remember the old days 1 before the 15th and 1 after or both after

I do wish people would take predator control a little more serious, as that would help us all

not just fox and coyote, but the others, raccoon opossums and crow

I have no doubt that coyotes take a bigger toll on Turkeys than deer..........and the other ones you mention? all they need is to find a nest and they wipe out the whole batch, and probably can get the hen because the few I've stumbled across on the nest sit tight unless you just about step on them.

  6. all land is owned by someone, public lands are almost always properly marked..but I know of instances where private owners like to remove public land signs to keep people off......DEC has a very good interactive map.

  7. That is just BS. From all the cops I know, they are all pro 2nd amendment.

That is the way things are done in Suffolk. If there is an allegation, the pistol permit is pulled, and an investigation is performed. That is just the way it is.

Is it right? No. Is it going to change in this political climate? You tell me.

Mr. Mayer got his pistol permit suspended based on an allegation. It is a sad state of affairs.

If you recall, a few years back that same dept was at a home for an incident and one of the residents had a pistol permit and pistols. They had no reason or saw no reason to seize them and didn't..........fast forward, the guy robs a pharmacy and kills 4 people with his licensed, legally owned handgun, the result? million dollar lawsuits against the dept. from all victims families.............damned if you do, damned if you don't.

  8. The other half of the problem is the lawsuits that follow whenever something happens regardless of who's really at fault.........I'm sure that following the Sandyhook tragedy that lawsuits will be filed against the people who sold the guns to the shooters mother regardless of whether or not the sales were legal, the school, the gun manufacturers, you name it.......this country is swamped in frivolous lawsuits and the people who are scared to death of them.

  9. I see some of you missed some things in that...like ppl that have had restraining orders against them..

Experience here...I have a crazy neighbor ...that got a bee in her bonnet because after 9 mos of me calling to ask her to keep her dog off my property...I called the dog warden....The dog was carrying one of my chickens down our drive..

Mind you she had told my a dozen times to just shoot the dog...my answer was no I'm not shooting your kids pet....the night we went to court...Oh and she got a lawyer...I get a knock on my door...2 sheriffs...I was being arrested for child abuse..

Oh ya she told her young daughter that I was going to have her dog killed and she needed to tell the police I threatened her...This all went down hill from there...long and short...It was almost thrown out..I'd retained a lawyer...whom by the way never sent me a bill...but I had to demand mediation because of a tip that she had plans to next accuse me of actually touch her kid...In the mean time a restraining order had been placed against me..

We went to mediation where the things she said...legally, I can't repeat..but made the mediators face turn red...signed a contract that she would not shoot or run me and my animals or run us over...you can imagine why it was worded that way.... but I also had to sign...

So If you think something like this could not happen to you and you have your rights taken away ...for NO REASON...other than a vindictive nut job...Then you are sadly mistaken...

so at what point should it be ok to take someone's guns away? I'm assuming when all was said and done you were able to legally own guns again...not saying what happened to you was right, but if the shoe was on the other foot would you be ok if the other party was really nuts and they were able to retain the means to do you harm?
