  1. Guinness isn't beer, it's lunch...a sandwich in every can. I'm really enjoying all the latest micro brews.....Bud, Coors light and the the likes are just refreshments, far from good beer in my book....

  2. Meat is meat.  With slight variations in taste based on the animals diet, you will find most meats taste similar.  It is plants that has the biggest variations and chemical compositions. Biologically, if you can eat one meat from one animal, you can eat the meat of another.

but what about when you venture into the other stuff that some cultures eat.....raw stomach matter, raw bile....half cleaned out intestines? that stuff probably has bacteria that would kill most of us.

  3. I've never seen Anthony Bourdain refuse anything offered. Maybe that's why he is so skinny even though he eats like a horse.

I think it was Andrew Zimmern....he tends to venture a little further out with the odd foods.

  4. Anthony Bourdain said, "the most disgusting thing I ever ate was a chicken McNugget. The worst meal I ever had was a Wart Hog's ass in Namibia!"

I saw that episode. After squeezing the turds out of it, they just threw it in the hot coals. After stirring it around with a stick for a few minutes they fished it out & chowed down.

Elmo: The same bar that had hog fries tried turkey fries for a brief time. I tried them, but they were too strong tasting for me. I didn't like the texture either. Hog fries were just like (somewhat) tender chicken gizzards in taste & texture.

yeah, I saw that episode....some of the guys on these shows that go and eat unusual stuff, do say that there is some stuff they can't eat because they would get extremely sick, something about their bodies not being used to it, or lacking the right stuff to properly digest / process it.

  5. I don't know what they are, but there are areas I hunt that have trees that look identical.....they are a haven for Grouse and I flushed quite a few birds from around them.......usually multiple birds each time, I would definitely keep them if you have Grouse in the area.

  6. I just saw the movie "Concussion" yesterday. It kind of gave me quite a different perspective on football. I had no idea what kinds of things those guys put themselves through and what the end-results can turn out to be.

I hate seeing anyone hurt or suffer a long term injury from most anything.....but it's kinda like a guy hitting himself in the head with a hammer everyday and then being shocked that it caused long term or permanent damage? much like Boxers......sad, but can they really have thought that abusing your body on a regular basis is not going to cause problems at some point??

  7. I have been using Evercalm and I really like it. It isn't an attractant but a deer bedding smell that it suppose to put the deer at ease when they come in. I didn't have any deer spook or act on high alert at all this year other than the one deer that blew at me as I climbing down my ladder. I shot a 8 pointer on opening day with a doe less than ten yards away from me. I figured she would bolt the second my gun went off. She didn't care at all. I had to wait for her to slowly wander out of the area before climbing down.

Evercalm.....probably the only scent I will ever spend money on again, I'm convinced it works.....but like you said it's not an attractant.

  8. I really wouldn't bother unless you're hunting a piece of private land where the deer haven't been chased around for the past 3 months........not too sure it would even be worth the money if you are on private.

  9. Ramcats worked great once again. Pass through on a doe at 15 yds, pass through on a 9pt at 32 yds. The ramcat went through the shoulder blade and still exited the last rib on opposite side on 9pt.. 736f551cebab86742fbb470731b5b634.jpg

are those fixed blade? if so, I would think they definitely fall into the "barbed" category.......

  10. Horrible, 3 blade rage ,never again. This big boy is thankful though. I haven't told anyone except for my dad who helped me track the 200 yard blood trail til it dried up. I hit him at 7:30 in the first days of archery, walked straight lines for hundreds of yards the rest of the day from the last blood spot ,we ended up getting pics of him on the trail camera a few weeks later which really set me at ease. It must have been a solid shoulder ball hit because it only entered the depth of the broadhead. Sick to my stomach for weeks until we saw him again perfectly fine.

I knew there was a reason the 3 blade Rage were illegal in NY.........
