  1. I would think "possessed" means just that, you are in possession of the means to fire it regardless of where you have it.

To the one above who talked about store policy vs law, I don't think you get the point.

If you have a 50 cal muzzleloader rifle and supplies and buy a 50 cal muzzleloader pistol you are technically in violation of the law if you do not have it on a permit since you do possess the means to fire it.

Whether the authorities find out or not is irrelevant, it needs to be licensed.

yes, I initially missed his point, when he said " you can not get the fix-ens", I thought he was referring to stores not selling pistol ammo to those who were not licensed to possess a handgun.......we all know that rifles also come in handgun calibers.

  2. Just not something I'm used to.  I probably shouldn't use the word violent because that sounds like a crime or something.  I'm still kinda surprised that I did it.  I don't regret it at all.  And yes I'm hooked and very appreciative of my experience and hearing everyones congrats.  I'll Probably come down from this rush by next season.

shooting a gun that shatters the silence of the otherwise peaceful woods and killing something is pretty violent....I don't have a problem with its use.

  3. never used the word entitled. but again, if he shot it, has some trail cam photos and his story checks out then I dont have an issue giving to them. I'm certainly not mounting them, so why am I keeping them?

no, you never did....but if the guy goes through all sorts of trouble digging up "evidence", then it would seem he does have some sense of entitlement......and yeah, I kinda get it if the guy had some type of history with the deer, probably how the guy came off when he was looking to get them from me.

  4. I shot the biggest buck of my life...immediately called deer search....they came out that afternoon in the rain we searched my calling all the land owners for permission...they believe we were on a live deer ..backed out at dusk and they came back the next morning..in the rain...seached hours and came up with a dead end that circled back to a particular property...One year later I found out where that buck ended up...another neighbor told me I should talk to another land owner(non residenton property but local) neighbor...I checked around..yep I know where he went now and was dead when found and knew we were searching...Oh well...I won't give the satisfaction letting him know I know...but you can bet a dollar I have let everyone around here know the the story behind it...My loss for not getting a dropping shot...

someone who takes a deer that they know someone is actively searching for is a totally different story as far as I'm concerned..........that's a sh**ty move in my book.

  5. I'd have zero interest in hanging on to antlers that I didn't harvest myself. Can't say I would just toss them, they'd find a spot in the garage... but if another hunter presented some good evidence they were his? They'd be his for free.

what possible evidence could someone have to prove that he's entitled to antlers that were found attached to a deer that has been laying in the woods rotting for 3-4 weeks?......?

  6. IMHO, B&C promotes this exact kind of behavior with their "Picked-up" class of trophy listings. Hard to believe any "finder " would have any gratification, not to mention bragging rights from simply locating a dead deer!

not too mention, what gratification and bragging rights would someone get out of having the antlers of a deer that they failed to recover and were found by someone else 3 weeks later.....

  7. So if I am dead.on at 25 I should be fine out to 75ish then I take it....

I can turn her back up 2 inches the scope is adjusting perfectly.

Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

quite honestly, I wouldn't just turn it up two inches and assume that it's gonna hit where you want.....I've played with some scopes that what it said the adjustment was and what it REALLY was, turned out to be quite different......not to mention that some ammo can do different things once you start to stretch the distance.

  8. The slug doesn't arch, it just seems that way since the scope is above the barrel.

I think it's the picture on the back of ammo boxes that shows the bullets path leaving the barrel and arching up on it's way to the target that gives people the impression that it does........

  9. you can buy one for show only you don't need to have a pistol license  you can not get the fix-ens to shoot it unless you have the same caliber in a rifle

if you have a 50 cal. pistol and a 50 cal rife you then can own the shot for them both  but if you want to shot the pistol  you must then be placed on your pistol license

pretty sure that's not accurate...I can by black powder and round balls all day long with no questions asked......as a matter of fact, I recently did just that......and the whole rifle/pistol ammo thing is the policy of some stores, not the law.

  10. Nuisance permits are a horrible thing! Just a waste. Not very keen on the idea but people filling tags just to donate a food pantry. Better, but still uneasy about it.

I'm not a big fan of either myself....but have killed deer on a nuisance permit, because as the farmer told me "if you don't do it someone else will".....and at least I put them to good use.

  11. He was apprehensive at first but is loosening up now and enjoying the biggest buck he ever shot. He even posted the buck on his Facebook page. I would love to know if its a white deer or a piebald... unusual for piebalds to get that mature without the roman nose and to be all white... it happens, but it's really rare.

the article said it was "nearly" all white and called it a piebald.

  12. What are you saying?I'm not going to do anything

just saying that what are "you", as in "we" going to do about those who look for any reason to attack someone for any reason..you are correct in what you said......as in, not much we can do about the vultures who look for an easy meal and attack someone for any reason.

  13. I could be wrong but don't think so.Farmers/land owners can drive their equipment on paved surfaces for as many as 3 miles with only a orange triangle on farm equipment.I see a Gator is being nothing more than a tool to maintain land

exactly.............but the vultures need to eat, so what are you gonna do?
