  1. isn't the one link from last year and the other current? I would think it would be self explanatory being that the new regs state the license year runs from September 1 through August 31.....
  2. if there's no policy against is and they don't care, what's the problem? and one would have to think that an employee would have to buy a sh*tload of discounted merchandise to turn it into a profit that would harm a company or even be worthwhile for the employee.........whether or not it's ethical is one thing, whether it's even worth the time and effort is another.
  3. and it would actually eliminate more than one deer, which I have absolutely no problem with because we do it on Long Island.................but, put your seatbelt on because the comments about killing future bucks should start coming pretty fast.
  4. I've been doing mine at home via the internet since it first became available that way........never had a problem.
  5. there's plenty of State's that have deer season when the temperature is way up there.........I guess all their animals rot before they can be processed.
  6. no matter what weapon I carry, I very rarely pass up an opportunity on any deer that I can legally tag......I'll pass fawns in most situations, and this year was the first time that I can ever remember, in recent times, passing up an adult doe while I had a dmp in my pocket....
  7. amazing isn't it?, and I'm not siding with gun or bow hunters, as I am equally both. it started out with anger at the DEC and then the blame game started....the old divide and conquer.
  8. yup, it was like tossing a piece of meat to a pack of hungry dogs and watching them attack each other.
  9. I'm no mushroom expert, but not too sure I'd be eating that one.
  10. oh, thought you were asking because you planned on taking a kid hunting..........had I known why, I wouldn't had bothered finding the link for you.
  11. no, appears to still be either sex. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28605.html#deer
  12. and the finger pointing and infighting has begun...........
  13. I think you left Rolaids off the list.........
  14. we missed this one, but got hit with the antler restrictions a few years ago........we make do with the cards we were dealt, I'm certainly not gonna sell the property/house and go where the grass is greener, we get enough dmp's to keep things moving along and soon enough the AR's are gonna pay off BIG!!! ahh, who am I kidding, I doubt it.....But, it's just deer hunting, not like I lost my job and need to go searching for a new one....
  15. back in the day, you got one tag that was good for either sex during archery and buck only during the regular season, if you filled it during archery you were done (that changed later on)..........doe tags in most areas had to have 3-5 guys applying for one tag.....usually guys would take turns carrying it until it was filled. I think the multi tag system we have now was began in the early to mid 90's (maybe?) if not later.
  16. nah, actually that's not too far of a stretch..........but on the other hand, the real problem is not guns, it's the unchecked mentally ill, so you gotta control one of em............the question is, which one?
  17. #1- I hunt with all weapons except crossbow, start in archery and continue through the seasons as needed. #2- No preference as to when or what I shoot a doe with. #2- I don't care of the sex or age of the deer (although won't shoot fawns in most cases).
  18. um, they're harder to butcher....did you miss that?
  19. Biz, from the pictures you posted on here last year of your Dad and his buck, he looked like a pretty young 61 year old..........he may very well get to enjoy it for another 20+ years, I'd help him find what would make him happy, The Catskills are a beautiful place.
  20. seriously, how could you make a guy, who holds out for and only kills big bucks, feel bad? I've never seen it....what are you gonna say to him "maybe one day when you learn how to hunt you can start killing yearlings"? on the other hand I've seen other hunters make derogatory remarks to total strangers about the small deer they've killed.......I have nothing but respect for the real trophy hunter, more power to him, But too often that's the same guy who'll look down his nose at the guy with the 1.5 year old buck because he killed the next potential trophy.........if you can show me otherwise, please do.
  21. we have a place just outside Margaretville and Arkville..........more than enough State and DEP land where if it was me, I'd spend the majority of the cash on the house with a smaller tract of land. Hunting is ok, and from what I've seen in your other posts, probably on par with what you've been seeing with some areas slightly better. Now, hunting aside, there is no shortage of stuff to do year round....golf course nearby, Pepacton Reservoir for fishing and boating, Trout Streams, hiking, skiing, you name it.....plenty for the non hunting family members to do as well. Oh, and the bear population is growing every year.
  22. let me know when you come down to Long Island, I'll put you in some good spots and maybe we'll get lunch.........no real competition in the dmp lottery, pretty much unlimited tags.
