if you're looking to use a rifle or shotgun I believe they must be 14/15...... http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/46245.html

the way I see it, this is considered by many as the equivalent of someone coming to the U.S., luring Mickey Mouse out of The Magic Kingdom and killing him..........
-
I will have to say that what's happening now is 10x's worse then those two..........this one has been running on every news channel for 2-3 days and is all over the internet. I don't do facebook and quite honestly would not have even known about those two if it wasn't for the hunting websites I visit......and not to mention many in the hunting community is bashing what happened.
-
I bet if I went to Africa on vacation and got stabbed to death in an alley, it wouldn't get the news coverage this has gotten.......
-
a $50,000.00 payday probably helped them make the decision to engage in shady activity.

if what the outfitter did is true, that's a pretty shi**y move on his part and I hope they punish him appropriately, the fact that the Lion was crippled and killed 40 hours later is also something that bothers me, but it happens in hunting. The attack on the hunter via Social Media is disgusting.........other than that I'll wait to hear the rest of the facts.

So you say deer is your number 1...

not quite that simple...........I just would rather have the chance to get out and take a few deer and enjoy myself while doing so, I certainly will pass on some deer based on several different factors, so I'm certainly not an "if it's brown it's down" guy. I would guess if my life was consumed by deer and I spent the majority of the year watching and patterning them, things may be different, but I'm not and doubt I ever will be. I fully understand what drives the trophy hunter, but that's not me......the only challenge I face deer hunting is finding the right spot to hang my stand. -

if I had a choice to hunt a piece of property that offered me a chance to take a few doe and maybe an average or small buck, or one that offered me the chance to take only one deer of trophy size, I'd take the first choice every time........... -
so, if genetics and nutrition are considered by many to have the biggest influences on growing big deer, is there really a point in imposing antler restrictions in an area that historically have neither? I'm assuming the nutrition would have to remain consistent throughout the year(s) and not change drastically from year to year. Take the Catskills for instance, after 3 years worth of AR's, all we're really seeing as far as legal bucks are ones that would probably get a pass in many other areas of NY that do offer those two things.....
-
I apologize....I in no way intended to to offend anyone. I was just thinking that if you're hunting them with a shotgun you really don't have to overthink it.
-
does she do the real canning where you boil the jars and the whole 9 yards? I've always wanted to try that but have been leery that I'd do it wrong and get food poisoning.
-
softer recoil? yes......and also consider the fact that early season you may have foliage to deal with so more shot may be needed. But, you're hunting squirrel, so don't over think it.

I've dragged a few doe by the bag legs and it's definitely easier......but it does make a mess of the hide, wouldn't do it for a deer I planned on having mounted -
my theory has always been that if a deer runs for the next county after every little sound it hears, you would never get one........I've killed deer literally within 10-20 minutes after rattling my climber up a tree.

Bingo!!!! -
probably because it's like any other ammo that's not "mainstream".

When do you know you have coyote problem?
jjb4900 replied to GR HUNTER's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
yeah, raccoon's are pretty ornery creatures when they need to be........I witnessed a raccoon get into it with a Pitbull a few weeks ago and although he wound up losing he put up a hell of a fight, not pretty at all. -
6's or 7.5's is all you need.........
-
.410 is more then adequate for squirrel...........I bet I killed more small game with my .410 growing up then I did with all other gauges combined, not including waterfowl and turkey.
-
I would think you're probably correct......I hate to make assumptions, but I have to think that the story behind taking a trophy like that is not very impressive.
-
yeah, I'm sure it's a nice vacation, and the more I think about it the less crazy it sounds..........I think a week in Disney for a family of 4 or 5 will put you over 10 grand if you don't spare costs, and that's more like work than a vacation.
-
I'm just surprised that killing something to stick on a wall is worth that kind of cash to somebody.................but by the looks of it, it's gonna probably cost him a lot more when this is done.
-
I was wondering what that meant......
-
because I believe the law states crossbow is legal during the last two weeks of archery, not a specific date..........much like the regular southern zone season starts "the 3rd Saturday in November"....not a specific date.
-
while the date may change, it still starts the last 2 weeks of archery....so it's still two weeks of crossbow, you don't lose any time..........last year the regular season opened Nov. 15th, this year it starts a week later on the 21st.
