  1. After reading 9 pages of blaze orange I noticed many people didn't say why they didn't wear blaze orange. Some actually take it off or change hats when they get to there spot. I was wondering why you don't or even go to the lengths of changing? For the most part I find the blaze orange to be as good as if not better camo than the majority of the stuff you find in stores. As soon as the weather gets cold my blaze comes out doesn't matter what season it is. I am not a big fan of making it a requirement unless of course they can get ever Tom, Dick and Harriet out for a walk to also wear it. Then it might just be comical enough to do.
  2. I use one all the time. They are not that big and it cant be beat. No more walking around just climb a tree and start ranging. When I am board I will often just pick it up and guess ranges. Also when walking I will quite often stop and guess ranges at whatever and then just take it out and see how I did. When/If a deer comes buy I already have everything ranged so no need to take it out then.
  3. 2nd Archery Connection. And I live on Long Island. It's about an hour from where I hunt. Always treated as well.
  4. how many acres do you plant? Always wanted to try soybeans but have been told the deer eat them as soon as they come up and that you need a lot. Any truth to that?
  5. If I am not going to second guess myself about shooting it I will. I think its different at different times of the year.
  6. Leave it on. The bow feels completely different when I take it off.
  7. Lately on average if I see 10 deer a year I am doing good. I hunt about 20 days a year. Although there has been exceptions where I have seen 14 deer together come into one of our foodplots. That happened once and then we never even got close to that many tracks let alone seeing that many deer.
  8. How do they estimate the population? I think I have the deer take figured out but the overall population I haven't a clue and wonder if they DEC has a clue.
  9. The 80's were good. Saw deer most of the time, not a lot but could figure on seeing 2-4 during a sit. The 90's seem to drop considerably was happy to see a deer during a weekend hunt. Now it seems to have leveled off to where I will probably see at least 1 sighting for a weekend hunt. Deer permits, coyotes, less hunters pushing deer, warmer clothes keeping hunters sitting longer, treestands, food plots? Who knows?
  10. Yes. I also wont go in the tree if I don't have it. I like my life the way it is.
  11. Thanks. I am getting tired of hand picking rocks and was wondering about those rakes. Whats a stone rake?
  12. growalot, What type of rake did you use? Looking to do something like that by me but was wondering if those landscape rakes worked. Is that what you used?
  13. Small light if needed. What's the difference between using the green and the red lights? Is there a reason for the two colors?
  14. I wear orange when gun hunting without exception down to a light blaze shirt underneath in case something crazy happens like I have to drag a deer and it gets to warm for a jacket. "If deer cannot detect blaze orange, then why do bowhunters wear full camo" Most hunting clothes especially lighter ones come in camo and choice is limited. If it gets cold during bow I don't hesitate to grab the blaze camo warm hunting coat and bowhunt Oh and then of course there is the great marketing of camo. Most camo is sold for the human eye.
  15. New here and am just reading what might interest me even if I don't have an opinion. Also will read to see if there would be any response to what I might have posted.
