1. First off you went from 100gr of Pyrodex to 100 gr of 777. 777 is a hotter powder and you should reduce your charges. 100 gr of 777 is = to appx. 130 of BP. A 223 gr bullet should have made a sufficient wound to blood trail by. I've seen shotgun slug hit deer not bleed as well, so shot placement is critical. I'd suggest drop the fancy aero-tip copper plated bullets and shoot a plain lead power belt. Why waste your money~ dead is dead no matter what the deer was shot with.
2. A swamped bbl is say 1" at the breech and taper to 3/4" in the center then back to 7/8" at the muzzle. The reason, (so I was told); is so you can not see any bbl between the rear sight and front sight. With that said, they do look nice. It will cost you extra~
3. www.nygunclub.org 25 miles east of Rochester Rt 104 to Pound rd. Left @ Motts left @ fork about 1 mile north of Rt 104 on the right
4. No matter what the DEC has in its regulations one neighbor or a township will challenge the 500ft rule as being the minumn safety limit. That is one reason why its being reduced to 250 feet. If had been up to me alone it would have been 100 feet. You have to remember what happens in "your" backyard is not what is happening on the other side of the state. Also why would anyone what to leave a regulation "as is" when you have the opportunity to mak it better? Ya know the antis and some of NY's legiscritters want it to be 1,000 ft which is equal to 18 acre parcel.
5. That doesn't sound right . 82 yards ? That less than 1 1/2 times the depth of our lot .......... I wrote it so the 250 ft suggested distance is correct.
6. Yes it should be reduced to at least 250 feet. That is what the NYS Muzzleloaders association proposed to the NYSCC & the legislature this year.
7. I'd 1st suggest you decide on what you want as the 3 styles you've listed are very differnet. Then call Jack Patterson in Crogan ,NY. He builds one fine rifle and has won gold medals in internation competition.
8. LMAO want the canned reply: There're not traditional! Lets see crossbow was invented before the firearm. OK so it post dates the slingshot and spear; which pre-dates the compound bow.
9. I want to say early to mid 1990's. I've had for several years, long nuff to pay for its self.
10. It's already here , I lost a tree 3 yrs ago to them.
11. The question was -------- "In NYS, if you are carrying and you come across a facility that has a "No Guns Allowed" sign but you go into the facility anyways, are you breaking a NYS law or are you disobeying the policy of the facility?" On Xerox Property in Webster , NY , it is illegal to have a firearm on the property . You can be arrested and lose your job there . While it is against Xerox policy it is not against the law! So if Xerox has you arrested for carring on their property you now have a law suit. The right to carry in a work place has been challenged in several states and the corporations have lost in all courts. Many private corporations after 911 now have some hoak a$$ safety policy as suggested by OSHA,DHS and or some other money pit government agency. These are policies only and are not to be confused by actual laws.
12. If we were not "forced" to have a permit, the government could then concentrate on all their inside criminal activity.
13. Back in the 90's I was a master hunter for the mentor hunter trial program in Region 8. There're are some specific laws mentors need to follow to keep them out of troube. Actually thigns like written permissions are required.
14. The shotgun slugs people are using today are not the soft lead slugs we used 20 years ago. I'll see if I can dig up some info. or call Frank Phillips 585-226-2466 and ask him to email you the accident reports. Actually when your involved in the day to day operation of sportsmen groups, its not that you remember everything for fun. You are forced to recall all kinds of facts because their are so few people that help out you have to take on several duties.
15. "If" the club had heeded warnings from other area clubs this incident may have never happened. Ontario refused to enact strict rules and increase their berm size. You can't idiot proof everything or everyone, but that rifle range was a disaster waiting to happen. A shotgun slug will roll land tumble a long ways before stopping. Doc try looking a the FBI's site under ballistics.
16. The History of New York State Archers & Bowhunters N.Y.F.A.B. NEW YORK FIELD ARCHERS (NYFA) was organized in 1949 by a group of "bowhunters". The members of this group believed that the bowhunters of this State needed to group together in order to address their needs. Dr. Paul Crouch, a bowhunter who was responsible for the two week bow season for the antlered deer in 1948, was NYFA's first Bowhunter and Conservation Chairman. Dr. Crouch, along with his successor, Bill Wadsworth, and NYFA, were instrumental in achieving many of the hunting privileges we enjoy today. These include: In 1952 it became legal to take a deer of either sex while bowhunting. In 1967 bowhunting stamp was first issued. The stamp plus a big game license enabled a person to hunt deer with a bow in the early "bowhunting only" season. In 1974 the bow season was extended to four weeks in the Northern Zone and to five weeks in the Southern Zone. In 1975 a five day bow season was added after the gun season. In 1976 the Junior Archery License became effective. In 1977 the pilot course of the Bowhunter Education Program began with volunteers from NYFA holding classes for all new bowhunters. In 1979 use of the mechanical release was approved for bowhunting. In 1980 the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation adopted the BEP course and required that all bowhunters complete a bowhunting training course. NOTE: This course is being used throughout the United States and the world. NYFA boasts very proudly that we piloted such a prestigious and timely program. In 1982 NYFA becomes New York Field Archers & Bowhunters ( NYFAB). In 1986 the "second deer permit" was adopted. In 1987 NYFAB supported the Deer Search program which was adopted by the DEC. 17. Yep sure is, the DEC compiles a list every year. In fact, as I recall meatsticks posted this information on the old empire forum. You guys sure forget easy, that is, all the info & links meatsticks posted. Every hunted ed instructor alos has the list.
18. T7 is hotter than APP that is why you get a better wack for the grains. Shooting 90 gr of T7 is like shooting 120 gr BP
19. On Tuesday, July 20 at the Speak to Council session beginning at 7pm, I will advise the Rochester City Council to repeal Ordinance No. 93-62, commonly known as the so-called Assault Weapons Ban. Non-residents may speak to the Council on this issue, although residents are given preference. Non-residents would be affected by this law if they travel through the city with prohibited firearms. To speak to the City Council, you must call (585) 428-7421 on Tuesday, before 6 pm. The earlier you call, the earlier you will appear on the speakers list. Residents will speak before non-residents. City Hall is located at the corner of Church St. and State St. Parking is available in the Sister Cities Garage directly across from City Hall. Google Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=30+church+st+rochester+ny "2A" signs will be available for those who want to show their support. The Greater Rochester Libertarian Party intends to pursue all avenues to repeal this law. At this time, that is all I will say on the matter. Chris Edes Chairman Greater Rochester Libertarian Party
20. Cuomo was in charge of HUD and was the person who pushed the cheap loan deals. Look it up it's history. LAzyOH is rated an D- by the NRA. Paladino is not from either of the 2 parties were so stuck with. Pataki would have never gotten his AW bill passed if it were not for the Albany gun clubs getting 100k grants. You knew that already and forgot it.. That was one of the things meatsticks wrote about last year. I never voted for Carter either, he screwed me out of a pay raise when I was in the Navy. Didn't care much for either bush. I'm stuck with voting for the lesser of 2 evils and all of them graduated from he same law schools. Which means they all think the same. Make your own decission I only post the news. I'm not going to waste my time trying to convince anyone of anything. You guys are debating the same BS now for over year cept' on a different forum.
21. FYI: velocity is velocity, be it a round ball or a 30-06 2,000 fps is still 2,000 fps. Once it leaves the barrel The bullets spin and balistic coefincency play a bigger part in down range tjectory. 22. Another group files against NY's commie firearms ideals: SAF Files New York Lawsuit

http://www.saf.org/images/saf-alertsA.gif[/img]http://www.saf.org/images/saf-alertsB.gif[/img]http://www.saf.org/images/saf-alertsC.gif[/img] http://www.saf.org/images/saf-alertsD.gif[/img]

SAF SUES IN NEW YORK TO VOID 'GOOD CAUSE' CARRY PERMIT REQUIREMENT For Immediate Release: 7/15/2010 BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit against Westchester County, New York and its handgun permit licensing officers, seeking a permanent injunction against enforcement of a state law that allows carry licenses to be denied because applicants cannot show “good cause.” SAF is joined in the lawsuit by Alan Kachalsky and Christina Nikolov, both Westchester County residents whose permit applications were denied. Kachalsky’s denial was because he could not “demonstrate a need for self protection distinguishable from that of the general public.” Nikolov’s was denied because she could not demonstrate that there was “any type of threat to her own safety anywhere.” In addition to Westchester County, Susan Cacace and Jeffrey Cohen, both serving at times as handgun permit licensing officers, are named as defendants. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, White Plains Division. Attorney Alan Gura is representing the plaintiffs, along with attorney Vincent Gelardi with Gelardi & Randazzo of Rye Brook, NY. Gura recently represented SAF and the Illinois State Rifle Association in their landmark Second Amendment Supreme Court victory over the City of Chicago. Under New York Penal Code § 400.00, handgun carry permit applicants must “demonstrate good cause for the issuance of a permit,” the lawsuit alleges. This requirement violates the Second Amendment, according to the plaintiffs. “American citizens like Alan Kachalsky and Christina Nikolov should not have to demonstrate good cause in order to exercise a constitutionally-protected civil right,” noted SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb. “Our civil rights, including the right to keep and bear arms, should not be subject to the whims of a local government or its employees, just because they don’t think someone ‘needs’ a carry permit. Nobody advocates arming criminals or mental defectives, but honest citizens with clean records should not be denied out of hand. “Thanks to our recent victory before the Supreme Court,” Gottlieb stated, “the Second Amendment now applies to state and local governments. Our lawsuit is a reminder to state and local bureaucrats that we have a Bill of Rights in this country, not a ‘Bill of Needs’.” The case is filed as Kachalsky v. Cacase, U.S. Dist. Ct. S.D. N.Y. 10-05413 The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation's oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control. SAF has previously funded successful firearms-related suits against the cities of Los Angeles; New Haven, CT; and San Francisco on behalf of American gun owners, a lawsuit against the cities suing gun makers and an amicus brief and fund for the Emerson case holding the Second Amendment as an individual right. 23. http://paladinoforthepeople.com/images/LOGO_yardsign.jpg[/img] FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 15, 2010 Contact: Michael Caputo 716-863-0806 [email protected] PALADINO FORCES REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR PRIMARY WITH LOBBYIST LAZIO Paladino Files Double Legal Requirement of GOP Signatures for Governor Race (BUFFALO, NY) - Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino, Republican candidate for Governor of New York, today announced that his campaign, after the hard work of thousands of volunteers across the state, will this afternoon file 28,000 Republican signatures on petitions with triple the requirement spread across 21 Congressional districts and 62 counties. This petition submission will successfully place businessman Carl Paladino in a Republican primary for New York State Governor against lobbyist Rick Lazio. "Today we will file a bullet proof package of 28,000 Republican petitions to place Carl Paladino on the Republican primary ballot," said Michael R. Caputo, campaign manager, Paladino for the People. "With tens of thousands of Republicans calling for Carl Paladino to be in the Republican primary, only one thing could explain why Rick Lazio would decide to challenge our petitions; fear. Rick Lazio can not beat Carl Paladino in a primary so he wants to knock him out of the process." Carl Paladino, a successful Western New York real estate developer and attorney, declared his candidacy for Governor of New York in Buffalo in April. He and Tom Ognibene have submitted for approval enough petitions for the Republican primary and are now collecting petitions for the Taxpayer line. 24. Think so, but something is different. I've shot over a case of APP and went to BP as it was cheaper.
