  1. A good friend of mine just won this in the Walleye Challenge Ice Fishing Contest over the weekend. He has no use for it so he wants to sell it. We just picked it up from the dealer today. It's a sweet machine and BRAND NEW!!!!! Here is a link to the specs of this machine: http://www.kawasakia...-force-650i.htm This machine is over $7,000 new. He is asking $6,000. It's located in Fulton County, about 5 miles north of exit 28 of the NYS Thruway. (518)-762-9612 Ask for Scott
  2. I may be wrong but I thought any electronic calls for deer were illegal.
  3. I'm pretty sure that Dick's had the 3x9x40 Monarch on sale for $199 which is a good deal for a great scope. I have 3 Monarchs and won't buy any other scope. I like to use rings that use torx screws instead of regular screws on my scopes. Leupold makes great rings.
  4. Does anyone know the date this deer was shot??? I was just in Ithaca for the last 3 days and stayed with friends who live about a 1/4 mile give or take from the cemetery mentioned. If the date is the same as the story I heard I doubt this guy will be showing this deer off too much. If the date this deer was shot matches the date of the story I heard I'll share it with everyone here.
  5. Wow. Great buck!!! My buddy's uncle is one of the best deer hunters with a rifle I've ever seen. He killed a buck in the northern zone 20 years in a row, which is more than impressive to me. Most of these were on the stalk but a couple were kills from a treestand. He always told us to pee in a bottle because the smell would spook deer. We did what he told us to do because he was successful doing it this way. I've heard a bunch of stories saying guys just pee out of their stand and it either attracts deer or doesn't affect them at all. I think I might have to give it a try.
  6. Congrats!!!!! Your bucks way better than my first!!!! My first was a button buck. You're gonna be addicted to bowhunting now! Great job!!
  7. Wow!!!!!! My biggest weighed in at 205lb dressed. That is a BRUTE. The backstraps on that buck will weigh 20lbs!!!
  8. I have to agree. The draw on the Elite's is so smooth. The backwall is unbelievable. Quiet, no hand shock, and there camo finish's are awesome. Can't beat their waranty and customer service either!
  9. I think everyone that has ever hunted has had a good one get away. Here's mine: I was bowhunting in late October when I had a nice 8 point approach a nearby scrape and rub. After watching him tend to the scape and rub he proceeded to walk to my right at about 25-30 yards. He didn't stop in any of the openings at this yardage so I picked a spot up ahead and waited. He was now at 30-35 yards and stopped. I took the shot and quickly saw him do the donkey kick! I'm thinking I put a good hit on him. I watched him for a few seconds as he ran off. There was rain in the forecast so I figured I'd wait 30 minutes to an hour before going after him. About 15 minutes later it started to rain a little. I talked to my buddy and we decided with the rain we better track him now. When I found my arrow I was a little disappointed, it had only had blood on about 9-10 inches of it. I thought I had a good hit and coplete pass through bases on the donkey kick reaction. I tracked him for about 90-100 yards into an open field. The blood wasn't great but I was moving along. The field came to a point where there was a small thicket about 40 yards for the edge of the field. There was getting to be less blood. As I approached the edge of the thicket I looked across the field to see the buck walking slowly with his tail down. I pushed him out of the thicket where he was bedded down! You can imagine I am furiuos for going after this buck too soon. My buddy and I deceded to back out and get something to eat. I waited 4 more hours to look for him. I couldn't find any blood in the area where I last saw him walk off. There were large rolls of hay in the field so I didn't see exactly where he entered the woods. I looked for 2.5 hours and found no sigh of him. I was just getting ready to give up when I found one tiny drop of blood!!!!! I turned around and started following every runway I could find. I did start finding a littl more blood but it wasn't easy going. I could see a couple spots where he stopped, there was a couple drops of blood or a tiny pool of blood. I tracked him for another 150-200 yards. It was no getting dark. To say I was unprepared for this tracing job is a HUGE understatement. I went out thinking I'd find the buck bedded down 50-100 yards in the woods. BIG MISTAKE. I didn't have a flashlight, a compass, or my GPS. My cell phone battery was low and evevtually died on me. My radio didn't work well because of the heavy tree cover. This area is surrounded by roads so I wasn't concerned with getting lost. The area of woods I was in wasn't the property we hunt but we have a gentlemen's agreement with the guys that hunt it that if you're looking for a wounded deer then it's ok. I tried to contact my buddy to get an idea of where I was but my phone died and my radio wasn't clear. The only thing I had to mark my last spot for blood was a plastic grocery bag. I tied in on a branch hoping I could find it the next day. I started my walk out in the dark. I came to a dried up creek bottom. I marked where I crossed it with some rocks and sticks. After about 25-30 minutes of walking I came out on the road about 3/4-1 mile from where I was parked. I did see one of the guys that hunt the property and told him the story. He said you'll probaly find him tomorrow. I went back the next day and tried to approach the last blood spot from a different direction. ANOTHER BIG MISTAKE! I looked for 3 hours and could not for the life of my find the spot I had marked! You could say I was a litttle upset! Here I lost out on a nice 8 point( probably around 120-125") because I tried tracking it too soon and because I was completely unprepared!!!!! I asked the neighboring hunter a week later if he or any of his guys found a dead 8 point anywhere and he said no. He thinks he might have survived but I don't know. There was good blood in the spot where he bedded down. I think I did hit him a little low and maybe a little back but after tracking him as far as I did I thought I would find him. I probably would have found him if I hadn't made the mistake I did. Good luck. I hope noone else has to go through something like this. It is not a good feeling.
  10. Nice pics. We have a couple good bucks on camera in Cayuga county. We are seeing quite a fews rubs but no scrapes yet. Good luck with the big one!
  11. Cool. What are you using in your scrape??
  12. Wow, he's a stud. Good luck!!!
  13. We had this same problem last year. There was no buck sign anywhere opening weekend where we hunt last year. This year we have found a lot of rubs but no scraps yet. 2 years ago at this time we found both rubs and scraps. Who knows???? We did see a few different bucks this past weekend. I passed on a tight 7 point that had a short drop tine. I had him a 5 yards Sunday and 15 yards Monday morning. My buddy saw a couple forks and a few does. We have a couple good bucks on camera so we are holding out for one of them.
  14. I'm selling my left handed Bowtech General in Realtree camo. It has the CPX 3.5 mods in it making it a 27.5 inch draw. It is a 60-70lb bow and comes with a Octane Tripwire fallaway rest, 5 inch Fuse stabilizer, peep, and D loop. I bought this bow to use as a backup but haven't had time to use it at all and could use the money right now. It is in great shape, it has been hunted with by the previous owner and has a few slight marks on it. The limbs have been updated. I will post pics soon. I'm asking $435 shipped. I'd prefer MO or Paypal as a gift for payment. Bowtech General Technical Specs Brace Height 8 1/4" Speed MOD IBO 307-315 fps Draw Weight 50-60-70 Kinetic Energy 77.13 fpe Draw Length 26"-30" IBO Smooth MOD 300-308 fps Axle to Axle 31 3/16" Adjustable Let-off 65%-80% Thanks for looking![/indent]
  15. I shot a big 8 two years ago that grossed 147. If he looked like that without the velvet I'd say he would push 140. He's 130 plus all day long. Looks like he's been eating good too. Good luck to you!
  16. I'm selling my LIKE NEW FootJoy DryJoys long sleeve rain jacket, size (XL), extra large. It is red in color and in excellent condition. I wore this jacket ONE time to a golf tournament that got rained out. The tags are still in the pockets. This jacket was well over $100 new. I love Footjoy jackets but the sleeves are a little too big for me. Price is $65 shipped, you won't be disappointed! Thanks.
  17. I am selling 4 125 grain NAP Thunderhead broadheads. I got these with some arrows and don't have any use for them, I shoot 100 grain heads. I would say they are used but don't know much more than that about them. I have 11 replacement blades, 6 o rings, and I'll throw in 6 125 field tips. Price is $18 shipped.
  18. BTW, Elite bows have a fully transferable lifetime warranty!!!!!! I don't think any other company stands behind their bows with that kind of warranty. A friend of mine had an issue with his bow. He said he was on the phone with the guy for about an hour. The Elite rep wasn't giving him the run around he was actually interested in what his problem was, they talked mostly about hunting, bows, etc. He sent it in and it was taken care of. They actually did 1 or 2 things that company's warranty's don't cover for free. Their headquarters is here in NY so I decided to make the switch this year to a 2009 Z28!
  19. I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport that I picked up used for $125. I doesn't have the angle compensation feature but it works pretty well. A friend of mine picked up an Archers choice new off of eBay and got like a $50 rebate. He is very happy with the rangefinder and the price.
  20. We use chain ons for bowhunting. Ours have 24x30 platforms and are between 12 and 16 feet up. For gun hunting we use 12-15 foot ladderstands. I have a Tree Lounge climber that I haven't used in a long time but boy is it comfortable!
  21. I'm selling my Octane 11.5 inch camo stabilizer. The camo is Realtree Hardwoods Green. It is in great shape, it was only on my bow for one hunting season. It has 2 weights on the end that can be removed to shoot with 1 weight, 2 weights or no weight. It was over $70 new. I'm asking $55 shipped for it. Thanks Mike
  22. I've used Beman ICS Hunters for the past 4 years. They are great arrows for the money! I used Easton Axis arrows before that. I broke 3 arrows and my buddy broke at least 3 maybe 4 of his. I have yet to break a Beman. I killed my 200+lb 8 point with a Beman. I picked up a dozen Bemans with Blazer vanes back in January on clearance for like $53 for a dozen! You can't go wrong at that price!
  23. I shoot Bemans ICS Hunters, 340's. My bow is set at 66 pounds with a 29 inch draw. It's plenty fast enough. As long as you're shooting well with them I wouldn't change anything.
