  1. Plain and simple actually. Celebrities already have an incredibly large and established fan base. If hunting and fishing gear suppliers and manufactures can tap into even a small percentage of that population by association, they've reached out to a new potential consumer crowd they otherwise had no access to.
  2. Not really sure what's growing out there ny hunter. That field just got cut... I know there used to be lots of clover out there, and the obvious corn field beside it, but new owners don't allow anyone in the fields anymore, so I have to shoot my pics from the woods edge property line where I have permission. I'll get back up here tonight and see if there's any new bucks that step out. I'm running all my cams up here now, so hopefully I'll have some fresh pics up tonight.... if the skeeters and deer flies don't carry me away!
  3. You could always mount it on a tripod at home and plop it wherever you want whenever you're good and ready.... should be able to do that one handed. Hope the arm heals up quick.
  4. No action around the cams last night. I did see 3 bucks on the far side of the field last night, but it was too dark and far for the Nikon to catch any rack detail. They looked like young ones. Had a couple does work across the field also, but for some reason, things are still pretty slow. While checking the cams tonight, I saw this guy out beside the corn field, so I'm hoping he stops by one of the trail cams for a better look. I set the new Moultrie at one of my favorite summer time water holes at the field corner tonight. Lots of sweet sign there, so fingers crossed for tomorrow! Man are the skeeters thick lately!
  5. If I were George, I'd close the damper on the fire place.
  6. Dang people.... you act like this is the first time they graced the cover of their magazine with a terrorist..... Obviously they have some brilliant marketing strategists... this stuff sells!
  7. A few years back I had one run into the side of my truck, so on my way back I scooped it up and threw it in the bed thinking it just broke it's neck. Once I opened it up, all the innards were jello, and every bone in that deers body was splintered into the meat....just an absolute disgusting mess! Dragged that one out back for the critters. A southern buddy of mine from SC then told me about a method they use down there where they just skin down the back and cut out the backstraps without messing around with any of the other stuff. A few years later, I hit 2 more deer in consecutive days, in the same spot on my way to my hunting grounds, lol. I tried his method right on the shoulder of the road on my way home and it worked out great! I'd never take an entire carcass again, but his technique was worth the 5-10 minutes it took me to extract them tender, tastey, prime cuts! Just pray you don't get pulled over after this with bloody hands and knife in the truck....
  8. Finally got a pretty good series from one of the resident bucks I've been keeping tabs on lately at the corn field. Wish I could have put my cam closer, but I have to shoot from the woodline. He's kinda weak in the tines, but he's still got time. ....and I think this is him again going back the way he came about an hour later.
  9. Don't fight it bro....... listen to the voices!
  10. I always cheat and peak at the link in his signature for his recent pics. He's probably busy trying to train his hawk to retreive Genny's from the cooler!
  11. Yup, he's a nice one! I'd shoot him with my camera............ then I'd shoot him with my gun too...................... then I'd shoot him with my camera again!
  12. Sometimes if you take the dead ones back to the bait shop, they'll give you another dozen for free!
  13. Things have been really slow lately from my evening observation stand, but I suspect that change is about to happen! The corn shot up about 4ft overnight, and the tall grass in the green fields beside it was finally cut earlier this week. I was beginning to wonder what the heck the hold-up was, but the wet weather seems to have set the farmer back a few weeks. Normally I can watch 20 different bucks a night with fireworks on the horizon by the 4'th of July! Slowly but surely, they are starting to show themselves the way they're supposed to this time of year... I just wish they would come a little closer. Things should start picking up some now....but I had to add a few TC pics from the area to hold me over.
  14. I like the topic for discussions sake, but I've never based my intrusions on the weather. Don't kid yourself.., rain or shine, deer know when we've been there. I guess what it boils down to for me is if it's an area that recieves high deer traffic, the odds are higher more deer wil have a reaction to human scent...and conversly... just as many more are apt to have no reaction at all, so it makes it a good killing spot if you want to play the 50/50 odds. My few experiences with Deer Search trackers leads me to believe a good bit of precipitation can improve the odds of recovery hours later as it dissipates the scent for the dogs, opposed to a "dry trail". I'll take their word for it! Play the wind and weather all you want.., but the fact is, these animals make a living out of surviving by paying attention to the most miniscule stimulous we overlook simply because they know they taste good!
  15. Blackberries still need a few weeks here. I've been plucking rasberries for 2 weeks now and they are chuck full o' flavor if selectively harvested. I imagine what you all call "black caps", I call black rasberries. They seem a little on the sour side this year..... but they never compare to the red ones!
  16. I don't think they would know if it's from a different year unless you gave them another reason to check it up close and personal. Obviously a yellow or tan tag on a green year is gonna raise a red flag even to an officer just doing surveillence from afar..... as dumb as it may sound, people do it thinking something is better than nothing I suppose. It's these blatant dumb arses that are often found in violation of other infractions upon closer inspection. I wasn't insinuating you were doing anything wrong..... just my dry sence of humor, but my money is on tan again this year if you wanna take a gamble and try to save a few bucks!
  17. That kinda proves my point just how many folks don't pay much attention to little details like what color their tags are before they stick a phony on their back. 2010-11 I believe was yellow.. 2011-12 was tan.. 2012-13 was green... Your guess is as good as mine as to what color they will be for 2013-14....but if the one you've been using all these years has been good to ya, no sence messing with it now, lol.
  18. The licence plate #'s on the backtags are pretty pointless unless a perps tag falls off durring a pursuit or he leaves it at the scene of a violation. Much like the inspection stickers on your vehicle, the color is the most obvious clue that tips off LEO's and gives them good reason to investigate further if it doesn't match.
  19. Dang, I don't know what that means for sure but at those prices, unless it means 'demo-lished' it's looks like some really sweet deals.

    Baby #3

Congrats Red! You're such a stud! Let us know if you have a buck or doe fawn!
  21. If getting hit in the head with a flying guitar doesn't make your ears bleed..., the tune will, lol! This is one of those few times you're safer in the "Mosh Pit"!
  22. Looks like axel grease...... she's probably bedding under that trailer in the background!
  23. Thought I'd start a little photo journal of the bucks I see pre-season while roaming the woods or sitting a stand in the evenings. Photographic exellence isn't top priority here, so excuse the poor quality.... most of these will be loooooong shots from an observation stand, or poor light distant encounters in the timber. I've already got trail cam vids of these first two bucks, but there's always something special about seeing them live on the hoof for the first time. This first guy is a little 3pt. Next up is his bachelor buddy 6pt. And lastly, my first decent buck of the year from tonight at the corn field. I didn't get a real good look at him, but I think I may have pics of him from last year as well if that left antler is as palmated as it looks here. I'll know more next time I see him. I'll try to get a trail cam hung in this area soon.
